The good ending is what happened in real life. It was the panthers 30th bday. They never had a win and this franchise has suffered and been done dirty for 27yrs since 97. The oilers are already a powerhouse and have 5 cups and tons of moments of glory. The panthers needed this and deserved it more for sheer survival of the franchise. Of all teams for the oilers to lose to there couldn’t be a more deserving team than florida

Had florida lost it would have been fatal to the franchise. Literally. They would never recover from that collapse in every way possible. Better edmonton took the bullet and the sacrifice because they can survive it and shrug it off. The stakes were not the same for both teams. If you know your hockey history then you know this to be true regardless of your allegiance. Its gut wrenching to see your team lose, but in the end it went the right way. Had it been edmonton winning over the rangers or another powerhouse team like edmonton it would have been great. Both Edmonton and florida deserved it. But only florida needed it. Edmonton will have their 6th cup soon.

Reality is better than fantasy. The Oilers made the series more interesting by pushing the series to 7 games but ran out of steam. Congrats to the Panthers on winning their first Stanley Cup.

@@Carter-px6nxhe didn’t show up in the games to win the cup bob did end of story. Obviously mcdavid is the best player and probably top 3 of all time but he didn’t show up when it counted and his name isn’t on the cup because of it.

Well for one, it would have changed all of our feeling we have about the league being rigged. And 2, Canadians would finally have something to be happy about for the first time in 31 years. Thank you for putting this together for us.

Gutted man. I was there for almost every single game of the playoff, either at rogers or one of the watch parties. I've never cheered for any team in any other sport like I did for the oilers. We deserved that cup more than anyone, McDavid's face at the end was heartbreaking. He deserved the Stanley.

Bettman hates Canada, and the league is suffering. They needed a Canadian team to make it for viewership, otherwise they dont care. I am done with the NHL, they have soften the league and calling calls that are not actual penalties. I have been watching hockey since the 1980's and the game is not better after the 2000s, now they got rid of Don cherry and league is worse. Keep it in the states, i wont be watching
