This is exactly what happened to cause the "Broken Masquerade" timeline in SCP Foundation stories. One day, the entire land mass that comprised North Korea simply disappeared, which understandably caused a lot of issues as there was suddenly a bunch of empty space, causing hurricanes and terrible waves as air and water rushed in to fill the now-empty space. Apparently the Foundation says that they don't know if the people are alive or dead and that North Korea was "spacially displaced" and not actually destroyed, but yeah, I don't think anybody in that world was particularly torn up about North Korea being gone either, except for the general distress at millions of people possibly dying. But the fact that North Korea no longer existed as an entity wasn't really a problem for anybody there either.

​@@franzsantinoplayz doubt it Most South Koreans today don't want or don't see reunification as necessary Even if the whole Kim dynasty died today and North Korea wanted to reunify it would actually cause a lot of issues for South Korea A large influx of low skilled workers will go towards the South and there will be need for the South Korean government to invest large amounts of money in the North. Probably worth it in the long term but will cause short term issues. Also China wouldn't be happy in the slightest So if it just all sunk into the Ocean South Korea would probably be happy

I think a more realistic scenario would be mass panic, an entire land mass would suddenly disappear, not due to continental features, but due to land borders. This means that either a country has the technology to do that, or something else does, while demonstrating they have an understanding of human good enough to understand the countries borders, and knowing which one we consider "the worst".

A better ending would've been reuniting Korea back into one.

I love how the only reason why North Korea acts like that isn’t just because they have nukes because they know America would decimate them if they used one but they tease them with the fact that they also are friends with China and Russia

Also its great for South Korea since its now an island no enemy can get to it by land
