Our political environment was perfect, but economic policies were disgusting. We were given a chance to annex Bangladesh in 1971, we could've been permanent security council member twice in 1950 and 55. It's not about separate from India. After British conquest Burma, They united it with British Raj. In the 1937, British created separate colony called British Burma. Some people in Burma supported it. Some people in Burma opposed it. Main reason for them to oppose it was They thought British do this to discriminate people of Burma. They thought British Burma won't get constitutional reforms which British Raj got.

Also our state gdp per capita is $4000. So it's better for Myanmar to join India, it's a growing economic and geopolitical power. Fyi, govt is working on North eastern States and they will surely be richer than Myanmar.

british India. Myanmar conquered Assam and Manipur and carried out 7 years devastation and came into contact with the British Bengal border. That triggered the anglo-Burmese wars. The british won and annexed Burma to the British India.

It was not called British raj dear. It was known as British India. Infact Europeans were so desperate to discover a country called india that Christopher Columbus mistaken Americas as india and called indegenious Americans as Indians. Infact when Europeans reached indonesia, they referred it as India's island from which the word indonesia came into existence. India is the only country which has it's name on an entire ocean indian Ocean

Then South India won't be included, better question what if Vijayanagara Empire never fell. Entire South India would be united and it would be the richest and biggest cities of the world. It was the second biggest city in the world after Beijing, sometimes overtaking Beijing to the first place in that era and was the richest and largest city to have ever formed until modern era with great civic amenities and pan South Indian imperial culture.
