I just realized Goku in canon can be as strong as Beerus if he wanted too but his body can't handle the multiplier. He would die in less than half a second. I wish he had an indestructible body

It's only permanent if one of them are a Supreme Kai doing it. Goku is not a Supreme Kai so the fusion would not be permanent.
