I love the sound, too, but if I'm comparing it to the version on The Black Album I wouldn't call this version "crispy". It actually sounds quite a bit warmer in the mids (especially with the guitars) whereas The Black Album has more attack and a darker drum sound.

I never thought Ride the Lightning had a thinner sound on guitar at least. It sounds huge. Maybe the thickest tone they had.

The vocals sound to me like a fourteen year old boy doing a really good Hetfield impression.

Man James' "Eeexit liiight!" in this song is one of this best vocal moments. Too bad he lost that voice. He doesn't even sing it that way live anymore. Just cuts it off short.

I think if Enter Sandman would have been on Ride the Lightning, the riff would have been much more aggressive. There is not enough downstroke in it as it is!

They have enter sandman with ride the lightening sound. It's the first recording of it Metallica did and they still.had the old sound. It's on KZread. Pretty cool version
