DIO is honestly the pillar (no pun intended) of the Joestars story. He was a true poison for them, yet also, the very reason of his own defeat. He thought he was destined for greatness, and because of this the Joestars became a bloodline of heroes, all admired by their closest friends and allies. Without him, the world would not be as safe. This is the sheer irony of fate.

And even though DIO hated the Joestars and wanted the entire bloodline wiped out, he still added to their family, by taking Jonathan's body and using it to sire four bastard Joestar sons (though he didn't know about any of them by the time he died).

Dario gets sent to prison for some other reason (probably stealing other things in the house) but the woman is nice and is like a second mother to Jonathan, and George marries her. Reason why no Dio is because Dario is sterile, and JoJo gets a 1/2 brother or sister instead.

Don't forget the fact that the only reason DIO has a Stand is because Enya gave him the arrow. Diavolo is less important to the plot than Enya, since she was literally the one who bought the arrows from him and brought them to DIO, granting him The World and making all the Joestars Stand Users. If Diavolo simply discovered the arrows and Enya didn't want to buy them off of him, JoJo wouldn't have happened.

Without DIO, nothing in JoJo could happen. The only parts that could possibly happen are Battle Tendency and Diamond is Unbreakable, but even then they're going to have massive changes. Parts 1 and 3 can't happen without DIO, Part 6 can't happen without Part 3, and Part 5 especially was only possible because of Giorno, who wouldn't even exist without DIO.

Without the battle on the boat at the end of part 1, Lisa Lisa would've been raised with her biological family and likely would've never met George Jr. So the Joseph we saw would never have existed to go to Japan and bang Tomoko Higashikata, so Josuke wouldn't exist either, and the Morioh gang wouldn't be able to come together as they did to stop Kira.

Literally without DIO in part one, Kars would have won in Battle Tendency since the Jojos at the time either wouldn't have hamon or their hamon strength wouldn't be enough to kill Kars at all

Jonathan would pursue the stone mask as an archeologist like his father, which would lead him to awaken the pillar men early. Maybe some fate shenanigans make it so he still trains hamon with Will and defeats the pillar men/it becomes a generational battle against them. Or you could make it so Jorge/Dario out of desperation in his old age actually activates the stone mask on himself and it would make him the main antagonist, with the rest of the parts still being possible (with some rewrites here and there).

Series realistically ends at part 2 without bullshitting our way through it

Makes you realize how much of an impact DIO had on the story. It’s amazing storytelling by Araki tying in DIO to EVERYTHING, showing that the battle against DIO and Jonathan goes FAR beyond the grave.

Diavolo would still be in this timeline. He would probably still find the arrows whether Dio was alive or not. I don't think Kira would be a stand user in this timeline because that would require the arrow being sold to Dio's organization and passed down to Kira's father. Kira would just be a normal serial killer who would eventually mess up and be arrested.

Another thing to bring up. No Dio means no ship gets blown up at the end of Phantom Blood. No explosion means no baby to be rescued. Meaning Lisa Lisa wouldn't even meet George Joestar, which means no Joseph and therefore the Joestars we know wouldn't even exist. Unless Lisa Lisa meets George anyways later in life because of Gravity. So that means even on that level Dio is responsible for the Joestars even existing the way we know them

i would love a video of what if Fate didn't exist. so like, events truly are unguided. Stand users aren't attracted to Stand users. The Zeppeli family don't NEED to die. Bites The Dust doesn't loop events, King Crimson doesn't have the fate stuff, so Epitaph is useless too. looking at the future without fate existing would make the future change because there's no solid set of events and you'll now act differently that you saw a future. Made In Heaven is one i don't have to explain.

i like this concept a lot of villains missing, then just causing the whole thing to change. you should do more of these, but with different characters, like "What if Kira Never Existed" because it's not only just really fun to think about, but also makes for really good videos. good video overall!

Counterpoint: Without Dio, very few of the canon Stand users would have ever gotten their Stands.

I have a question. How strong would DIO be if he can stop time as long as he wants? Let's say that all his stats are the same, but he can stop time indefinitely. How strong would he be?

It wouldn't be a stretch to say Diavolo would search for the Stone Mask eventually, to keep his empire and "future" eternal, and Pucci could be the new Dio with some tweaking, but I don't see him developing the Heaven plan on his own unless he spends centuries like Dio to know what to search for.

It ironic how many horrible fates DIO's mere existence stopped, considering DIO is probably the most evil character in the show

On a side note, assuming the world manages to make it through the Pillar Men crisis… Somehow, no Dio means Polnareff isn’t gonna be on the hunt for Diavolo, who could potentially get the Requiem arrow before Part 5’s original timeframe so depending on how King Crimson Requiem would work in this context, Italy may have problems somewhere between generalized memory losses and something much worse

at least part 3 would still happen, but instead of defeating dio, it'd be defeating all stand users. it'd be a stretch, but maybe the stardust crusaders would still travel the world.

It’s crazy how despite how much terrible stuff Dio has done to the Joestars and having essentially ruined their lives, without him they basically wouldn’t exist nor even get any of their Hamon powers or Stands. So I guess you could call him a necessary evil.

@@HabitualThinker Considering how easy Josuke's life post and pre part 4 seems, along with everyone aside from Rohan, and the fact that only like 1 of his friends died, and he gets a super strong, super fast bodyguard that summon at anytime that heals any injury instantly, I'd say its worth it.

Part 2, part 4 and part 5 can happen. As the video said part 1 and 3 are heavily influenced by Dio. Part 4 I think could still exist because Enya would still exist even without Dio. Enya was the reason Dio even got a stand, so it would only make sense that she would be selling stand arrows without ever meeting him. This means eventually Morioh would have stand users (maybe even Josuke) to defeat Kira. Part 5 can also happen as Diavolo would get an arrow if Enya existed, this means Bruno’s gang would be there but Giorno would never exist. Once again Bruno’s gang can turn on Diavolo and someone could get the Requiem stand instead of Giorno. Part 6 would just be a wholesome family story I guess (because no Pucci). Dio seems very necessary to the stories but you can honestly write a version without him by slightly buffing the side characters to make up for the lack of Jojo.

Only part 2 and 4 would probably happen without Dio

To the people who are talking about Weather Report, Weather gained his stand because he was a blood relative to Pucci like how Jotaro, Joseph, Josuke, and Holly gained their stands when Dio used the arrow (They gained their stands due to Dio Having Jonathan's body which was still as it's own being), and since Pucci never met Dio, he never obtained the arrow meaning neither Pucci or Weather gain stands.

Jonathan already had an innate "drive to stop evil" even before he met Dio. The first time we see Jonathan in the series it's him jumping into a losing fight because Erina was being harassed by some bullies and that shows us that Jonathan is the kind of person who will find cause to involve himself if he sees someone is being harassed or an injustice is being made. Dio made it extremely personal (so much that Jonathan's desire to stop him became one of revenge more than trying to stop an evil, it's something that Jonathan shamefully admits because it's not proper gentleman behavior to feel that way) but I still think even without Dio it would have eventually and inevitably been something or someone else that would drive Jonathan into action because it's in his nature to do so. Not to mention the Stone mask itself is pretty cursed and eventually leads to misfortune so something could have happened there (Vampire Jonathan could still be a pretty plausible outcome). Zeppeli also was coming (he knew the Joestars had the mask) but more importantly is the fact that Zeppeli would have never trained Jonathan in hamon unless he somehow found out Jonathan was adept to it (after all it's after he heal Jonathan that he sees how Jonathan conducts hamon like a pro that he decides to train him). Also if what Dio said about gravity still applied maybe Lisa Lisa and George II would still have met and had Joseph, but Lisa Lisa would have been a different person and so would Joseph.

Now that I think about it, Stands would mostly exist purely in Italy because Diavolo discovered the arrows. Of course there are exceptions for characters who have natural stands and live elsewhere but that's just a small minority. For the most part since Dio doesn't exist, Enya wouldn't buy the arrows from Diavolo which means Part 3, 4, 6, and presumably 7-9 would not happen.

Even though the story does get reset a lil bit they still all end up good (least the part 6 crew does)

It's basically the world where Emporio is stuck in. Also although its non-canon. It's stated that the pillar men are always meant to awaken. Kars is always meant to become Ultimate Kars. And he is always blasted off into space by some version of Joseph Joestar. And that it has happened at least 24 times before the start of JoJo.

Now I wanna see a video about what would happen if Kars and the Pillarmen didn't exist (like if it would mean that Dio would be more easily defeatable, if the future Parts would be less likely to happen, if Stands could have been introduced sooner/through some other means, etc.)

There's a reason why the word Antagonists is one who causes change and Dio fits this Criteria to a T , hell some people would argue Dio was the real main character of part 1 xD

Honestly without Dio existing to push him along Pucci would just be a fairly normal priest but, he just feels like something is missing but, he doesn't know what which is pretty be since it means the universe doesn't end up getting accelerated and reset.

Diavolo sells the rest of his Arrows to Enya, who still exists, but Enya might not send two Arrows all the way to Japan without 2.5 years of DIO's influence, as DIO probably did it by using HP and divining there were Joestars there. Joestars may not even go to Japan either: why would Joseph marry Suzie, etc? So, it could be that there's no Stand Kiras, even if Junior's still a normal killer although his dad might still be a ghost, OR Nijis... ...although if they both travel to Egypt and get noticed: she is after all, still trying to expand on the Stand Using population, but might choose different people. Also, Enya has no way to control an untrustworthy Niji-dad... he will not be a blob, or controlled by a bud either, even if he does get sent an Arrow... Another influence is No SPW... Also Rey Infinito has a different outcome

If there’s no Dio, are there more Joestars? Jonathan could have more children, George II could have more kids. More Joestars vs less strength per Joestar is an interesting idea. (And yes, I am thinking of this inspired by the SBR verse)

While watching this I realised something non of the joestars past George the second probably never would’ve existed unless gravity made so that Lisa Lisa’s parents met the Joestars and became family friends or something and then they hook up later but even if that happens Joseph probably never would’ve met suzie Q because Lisa Lisa wouldn’t have needed to flee the country meaning Holly wouldn’t have been born and neither would Jotaro or Jolyne. Tomoko meeting Joseph is a maybe but yeah the birth of pretty much every Jojo past Joseph is pretty damn unlikely in this scenario

Wes got his stand through a family link/curse, I'm pretty sure, (like the Joestars) because Pucci got pierced by DIO's arrow, unlocking White Snake BUT ALSO Wes' Heavy Weather. So: no DIO = no arrow for Pucci = no White Snake = no family link/curse = no Wes' Heavy Weather = Wes successfully kills himself.

Imagine a world where Diavolo never unearthed the Stand Arrows and the pillarmen are not a threat, lets just say main character Ceasar managed to beat them

Tbh there wouldn't be any Lisa Lisa, because the boat Jonathan and Erina were in never exploded, so no orphaned baby Lisa Lisa, leaving even less Hamon users

Here's an idea, and it's actually based on a fanfic I've read... What if Dio became a vampire much earlier due to an accident as a result of playing around with the stone mask as a kid, before he or the Joestars really knew what the mask actually did? In the fic, what happens is that Johnathan, Dio and Erina journey to America (accompanied by Speedwagon and Zepelli) to try and find a cure for Dio's vampirism, and while Dio is still a little shit at the beginning he actually, well... not necessarily mellows out, but becomes less of a little shit and directs his remaining little shit-ness towards more constructive outlets. Their journey leads them to the Yucatan, they encounter Santana who fights them for a bit, gives them some advice and a warning, and then goes back to sleep, and that's kinda where everything came to an abrupt end before the author went on hiatus. It's a good read, but it's a bit fanfic-y as it requires Dio to be less, well... Dio. I'd like to see your take on this scenario.

Pretty sure there is no Kira in this timeline, the arrow that got him was one of the ones used by dio to make his army of stand-users.

Jonathan's life would be good and happy, he would get no Hamon training, Joseph wouldn't learn Hamon and his life would be fine. None of the Parts would also happen. Although I don't know about Steel Ball Run because it's an alternative world and the final boss is Funny Valentine and not DIO.

I've had a few "what if" ideas. Not sure if they have been done (although I'll be surprised if no one else has done this) but: What if Joseph had died in Part 3 but gave his hammon to Jotaro? Just an interesting thought that probably doesn't have a huge impact. and What if Jotaro and Polnareff had switched who was going to explore where the arrows went? It could impact Part 4 but would for sure have Diavolo meeting Jotaro instead. Would Jotaro still be "rusty"? Would he have even met Jolyne's mother?

imagine polnareff taking jotaro's place, killing kira in morioh, meanwhile jotaro gets confronted by diavolo, and kills him early. giorno wouldn't join passione, unless he feels the need to join because why not. so, part 5 mostly wouldn't happen.

mikitaka would probably still go to morioh, and he would still have earth, wind and fire. so maybe he could fight yoshikage kira?

If kira and diavolo are still stand users, kira just hurts one town on ocassion and diavolo rarely even used his stand, he just kept his identity hidden, so really only difference between him and giorno is he sells drugs, so there's no world level threats besides the piller men, who might not even awaken yet

I mean in the SBR Universe Dio doesn't have as much of an impact as he does in the PB Universe so I could see another chaotic stuff happening

No, Diavolo found the arrows on a dig in Egypt, and Enya bought all but one off him. It's unknown whether two arrows would end up in Japan w.o. DIO's 2.5 year influence over Enya

Isn't becuase of speedwagon that the pillar men are found, so it might be possible that the pillar men are never discovered or at least their discovery is delayed.

Haven’t watched video yet, but my predication is if Dio didn’t exist, there would be no Speedwagon Foundation. Without that, the Germans would’ve still found the Pillarmen, except there would be 4 instead of 3, and the Pillarmen would’ve created a German army of vampire thralls before any of the Joestars or Hamon users even heard about it. There would be no agreement to have the various contests in which the Pillarmen each die, since they never put rings on Joseph. 4 Pillarmen with an army vs a presumably successful and strong Joestar family, except they never would’ve found Hamon because it was never needed. After all, Joestars can take on worldly threats without any kind of otherworldly means. Caesar is also never instructed in the use of Hamon, if he exists at all in this timeline. The Hamon users would probably find the Joestar family through some complex series of events that could go in all kinds of directions, and they would team up. But it would be too little, too late. No time to train, no helpful German cyborg with his UV lights (he’s dead, and they never put up lights because there were no survivors from the first one). Kars becomes the Ultimate Lifeform with relatively little opposition and doesn’t even need to betray his allies to do it. He might kill them after, but he wouldn’t even need to do that since they are loyal to him and haven’t failed him this time. Decades later, after purging a large portion of the human race or enslaving them, he discovers the Stand arrow. If he hasn’t awakened his Stand naturally, he pierces himself and becomes the Ultimate Stand user. He’s an order of magnitude more powerful and dangerous than P1-3 Dio ever was, so his Stand is probably something at least as strong as stopping time. He has all the time in the world to eventually make the discovery of Requiem, becomes a being above all other existences, and remakes the universe from the ground up according to his twisted vision.

Joseph would have both Lisa Lisa and his dad during his life cause he lost his dad to a zombie that Dio made so if Dio didn't make him both of Joeeph's parents would be present (but Speedwagon wouldn't befriend the Joestars if it wasn't for Dio)

Realistically during Part 4 if it was going to end with Yoshikage Kira's death with all the characters there, the only Stand user I see that'd be able to pull it off is probably Rohan? Okuyasu probably wouldn't have The Hand since they don't have the arrows and if Yoshikage still ended up with Killer Queen, then the only person capable enough would be someone else with a fast Stand and after rewatching and rereading Part 4 it's interesting? Seeing Rohan's feats, he should be at the very least relative because he could outspeed an enraged Josuke and his Crazy Diamond, and later on in Part 6 can still keep writing even during accelerated time by Made In Heaven so other than Jotaro or Josuke, that's probably the only person who could get rid of him, as for Diavolo? Pretty hard to argue who could beat him, if Jotaro is still the same as in canon then sure, he'd probably win in a high difficulty fight..if Jotaro just so happened to be in Italy, but nobody else could realistically beat Diavolo that we know of..unless Doppio is in control and in that case, he'd lose to a handful of pre-existing characters like Bruno, Risotto, maybe Fugo? Very few could actually fight King Crimson because of how broken the abilities are and funnily enough people argue there's a cooldown on his "Time Erase" but that isn't the case, he was clearly shown using it back to back..sure it last ten seconds at a time, but people don't know what happened in that ten seconds and he can just use it again if he needs to avoid an attack, and another thing people don't bring up is the fact this man can y'know, use the ability on other people? Do you realize how broken that is? Feeding information of the future to other people to confuse them or skipping time by ten seconds to pull off a sneak attack? A lot of things could go wrong with just one move by him, if the arrow still exists and someone like Bruno or Fugo somehow gets it then they'd probably beat him pretty easily, the evolution into Requiem is implied to be connected to desire, so the desire to defeat him should give them something to counter both Epitaph and Time Erase so in that case, there's no way he wins..Sticky Fingers and Purple Haze are superior to Gold Experience in base, so their Requiem could probably be something just as broken if not more than GER.

I see the first continuity as the story between dio and the joestar, and looking at it like that, nothing in the first continuity happens. Diavolo and kira go their stands from the arrow from dio, puccini got the theory of gravity from dio, who developed it in the coffin, and I imagine the pillar men not being awakened as the stone mask isn’t used, but that might be a stretch.

Without dio the ship at the end of part 1 doesnt get blown up and lisa doesnt meet george so realistically anything after part 1 of jojo doesnt happen except the pillar men taking over or diavolo getting the stand arrow

Isnt Kakyoin, a born stand user? And Polneraff awaken his through training and avdol through his psychic abilities? Also I can imagine him running into jotaro at school and became friends and somehow jotaro tag along on kakyoin's adventures with avdol and polnerafff and got into a situation where he awaken star platinum.
