Biggest advice I have from CSU (but this applies to all college/roomate situations): take the roommate agreement/rules form seriously. As a freshman, one is taking on harder education, while living with someone else outside of home. Be sure to communicate and set ground rules. Noone needs to be five feet away from a stranger "getting it on" when you're trying to sleep before a final. And advocate for dorm changes if anything is odd. Oh! Make sure your RA knows if their parents' phone number is the listed contact for them. When my parents got involved due to my roommate in Allison doing drugs and planning on killing someone. They called the RA's listed number, then I was threatened by the RA because she didn't know that CSU had her parents' # (instead of her's) listed to contact. Moved to Durward. Best decision ever (especially the food). *and be the roommate who buys the fridge vs the microwave. My opinion.

Great tips! I'm sharing this with our CSU-bound freshman. He's afraid the Honors College is too hard and requires so many more credits to graduate, but it sounds like you were in the same classes with honors students, and I hear they get priority registration for classes and don't get wait-listed. Is there someone else who can comment on the rigor of the Honors classes and program? Thanks!

Hi Rina! All of my roommates are in the honors college as well. They say that their classes are the same as non-honors students; the only difference is that while other students have to take some required non-major related classes (for example, history, science, etc.), honors students take classes that are focused on one topic with other students however these classes are typically their easiest ones. The other difference is that honors students typically share and defend a major-related thesis at the end of senior year - CSU professors help guide this. I wish I would have been honors personally! - Jamie
