What I Wish I Knew BEFORE My First Marathon

It’s one of the first things I began to search about when training for my first marathon, what did others learn from their experience so I could get mine right? Well after running one I can say there were multiple things before, during and after my marathon that I learnt.
Today I share with you some things I wish I knew when it comes to training for and running a marathon. I’ve split the video up into three parts to go into detail about what I wish I knew before, during and after running my first marathon.

Thank you, Jack. Some really useful tips. I've done 2 Halves and will be doing my first full Marathon in October this year 🙂

Can totally relate to you talking about pain and setbacks. I am 1 month from my 4th marathon, and I pulled my hammy last week. On a rest and recovery track and just have to trust the training to get me through it since I had to dial back the running to almost nothing...😢

Oh no, that's a major bummer! Reckon you're a chance to make the starting line for the 4th marathon? Or is it a bit too close 😪

@@JackRuns Thank you! Finished with a time of 3:57:03! It hurt more than I ever thought it could, absolutely brutal last 10km. But got my goal of sub-4.

Hoping to train for a marathon soon. Started running 6 months ago as a means to lose weight and I have come to love it ever since. Trained for 5k x 16 weeks, currently training for 10k. Might do another cycle of this and then do a 21 km running program. The reason why I take it slow is because my baseline pace is very slow (55 mins for 5 km). Was able to improve it to 33 mins after 16 weeks. Hoping to meet the milestone/s needed to do a sub 4-hour marathon before actually training for it.

That's a massive improvement in your 5k time in just 16 weeks! That's a great progression towards the marathon distance too - happy running! 🏃👟
