WHAT I PACKED vs WHAT I WORE ON ALASKA CRUISE 2022 | PACKING TIPS FOR AN ALASKA CRUISE

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey guys! We just completed a 7 night Alaska Cruise on the Norwegian Bliss. We departed Seattle and were able to go to 5 different ports. I wanted to share with you what I packed versus what I actually wore. So this video may be helpful to better understand what kind of outfits and clothes you need to pack for your next Alaska cruise. The cruise was between 6/4/22-6/11/22. I hope you enjoy!

You did a great job of packing for that many temperature and rain possibilities. The layering was a great move (and I spy the Lug packable you used to stick your coat in when it got warm by the springs)! I'd love to do an Alaska cruise...on my bucket list, so thank you for this series.

Oh don't be worried. I way overpacked. You can definitely get away with just taking one outfit per day to wear to shore excursions and the same thing to dinner. Hardly anyone on this itinerary and ship dressed up for dinner at night. Just make sure everyone has a rain jacket and waterproof shoes. I do believe they had laundry service available from your room, no self serve that I know of. You will love the Bliss. Don't forget to check out the observation lounge on deck 15. Amazing views from the front of the ship. I hope you and your family have a wonderful trip!!!

Thank you for working so hard while you are suppose to be on vacation😁. I definitely under pack most of time and end up buying clothes when I travel which is fun to do anyway. On our trip to Iceland, I did learn an important lesson though. I thought I was prepared for the weather but I greatly underestimated it. I have that same Columbia jacket with the reflective lining for warmth and I brought leggings for laying with jeans and Columbia hiking boots and also a pair of sneakers. Well, I was prepared for cold but not torentual rain! I found out really quick that the Columbia jacket may be warm, but not waterproof! The weather was nice most of the time but traveling to different areas of the island, the weather can change drastically. I think I spent 1/2 of trip completely soaked to the skin. Even my backpack which was just like the Lug one, leaked water through the zippers. And I had to buy a thermal hat because just my jacket hood wasn't enough. At least now I know for next time to always bring waterproof EVERYTHING.

Full disclosure tho, it is 2 blocks from a warming shelter and there are a lot of people that hang out there. I'm so glad you found the video helpful. There are also 2 more videos on this trip. Congrats on your upcoming trip. It's so close I bet you are excited. So I have been on an Alaska cruise a few years back and it was a little warmer than when I went in June. I'm not sure what your itinerary is but most of the inside passage is part of a rainforest. I would say to be cautious that it could rain any day you are there. It might be only for less than an hour or all day but the chances of rain are always high there. I hope this helps you somewhat!

I used a 25 inch Travelpro soft side suitcase. it was packed really full and almost hit my 50 lb weight limit for the plane. I definitely learned that the Alaska itinerary is very casual and there is really no need for extra dining room outfits. If you haven't been to Alaska before I would definitely make sure you had a rain jacket, duck boots and layers for sure. I learn more each time I go about what I need and what I don't. Haha. I have been to Alaska in May, June and August and I feel like you just never know if it is going to be rainy or not so definitely prepare for that. Hope you have a wonderful time on your trip. I'm assuming you are not going on a cruise if it's in a few months. I have to be honest that flying into Anchorage and doing the trip on our own without a cruise ship is the way to go. You see so much more of the beauty of Alaska. Have a wonderful trip.

I know this is a couple of years old but do you have those links for the Columbia raincoat and the waterproof boots?

Thanks for watching. I'm guessing you are planning an Alaska cruise. I hope you enjoy it!! It's truly a magical cruise experience. I am including the link for the waterproof boots. Amazon has been the cheapest place I've ever seen them. Also i wasn't sure which Columbia jacket you wanted. The first one is the lightweight one that is a rain jacket and the second one is the thicker one that has that omni heat technology inside. If you do this type of video again, you might want to clarify that the luggage weight restriction is for the plane, not the ship. For those of us who live close to a port or who drive to a port, weight doesn't matter.

Thank you. I didn't even think about specifying it was for the airline. I guess I'm just used to having to fly to all my cruises and that was what my mind was thinking. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!

I realized after the cruise that I definitely could have left half the clothes home. It is definitely a laid back itinerary and you could get by with wearing the same thing day and night. When re you going on your Alaska Cruise? I would finitely say to bring a rain jacket and water proof shoes for sure. Thanks for watching!

Yea I have a tendency to overpack somewhat but this time I didn't overpack too much when you factor in that I changed from port to dinner. Definitely if you stay with the same outfit all day you wouldn't have to pack as much. You could cut the packing in half. Thank you for watching!!

@AmandaPerkins815 thank you. We are going end of July into August. We have been to Alaska several times, but never the Inside Passage, or on a cruise. It has never been very cold, but I am thinking this could be cooler than usual. I will keep an eye on the weather for sure.

@@loriunderwood3734 oh gosh I hope you have a wonderful trip!!! Like you we have visiting from Anchorage going North to Talkeetna and Denali Park. Also we have visited Anchorage going South to Homer. We have visited mostly in June but we have done one cruise the first week of August and the weather was quite nice. You are familiar with the weather since you have been other times. I really don't think it's cooler doing the Inside Passage except when you do the glacier viewing. If your itinerary called for viewing Glacier Bay or another glacier it does get cold there. I suggest some kind of hat covering your ears, a warm jacket and gloves for that. Other than that I think you can base it off your previous experience for sure. If you are visiting Ketchikan you will most likely have rain. You sound just like my husband and I. We love Alaska so much! I hope you have an enjoyable and memorable cruise.

I carry my own luggage. I never pack more than I can carry myself. I have been on many cruises and always dressed differently for dinner than during the day. It just seemed like this itinerary did not call for that. I realized I brought way too much so I thought this video might be helpful for that reason. Thanks for watching!
