It's crazy how a situation/person can attempt to put a whole damper on your life and hard work only to turn everything around and make your life and achievements even more wonderful. I know it's been said over and over, but you truly are an inspiration to us all, and thanks for the continuing and awesome journey.

Looks like you made good progress Shawn! Every job done is another one off the list. Of course you got a ton of them still on your list, but it is wat it is. Still an incredible job you did this year! This winter you wil sit warm and cozy in your cabin! Maybe even a family-holidays/X-mas @ the cabin! I wish for that!

A lot of work yet to do, but you've accomplished so much this year already. 2023 might be your best year yet.

Thanks Shawn, you've been an inspiration to me when I was working on my square log cabin and built the roof structure alone this summer. Someone else on another channel said the same about you, sometimes building alone is difficult and you just want to give up.

Shawn, the use of Roxul insulation is the best way to go, the stuff is water, fire proof and a sound barrier. This would be great to use to insulate your ceiling from the sound of a metal roof and too finish the root cellar. Your getting there, she's almost done and won't be long now. Pretty soon just cosmetic stuff. What a nice home you'll have. Well Take Care Brother

I remember when you polled the channel about what your content should be. I love the main channel, I love seeing the progress. But explaining what you're doing while you're doing it? That's just the best. A few weeks ago some of that slipped into the main channel and it was magnificent.

Cut a span in the flat roof from inside and have storage above the flat roof and peak in the mud room.

Well getting the cabin insulated and all chinked up with the caulk and trim and roof all sealed is priority number one right now for sure. So the outdoor kitchen will be built during the winter months, that will be great to see, fall is coming quick to Michigan this year, it been cold windy, and raining for a week now, next week upper 30`s F. with frost at night, still good working conditions, as long as it`s dry, you have quite a to do list, all the best to ya. I wondered why there were no canning videos, your wife has been doing all of the canning, makes sense now.

I’m shocked that here in Ohio the trees are not all changing many are still green , the farmers almanac says it will be cold and lots of snow and it’s the old almanac the new one is only 40 percent right , the cabin came out great glad it’s all dried in , yes it’s crunch time for winter

I get tired just listening to all the work you have left to do before winter.

For sure wear a respirator when working with the Roxul/rockwool. You can get rigid sheets of Roxul and can be used as wrap and strap systems. The season is changing its nice to see the change but there is still the push to get all things set before the old man shows up.

More and more I can hear in your voice that Time is becoming more of a threat in completing projects to the point you have to postpone them until better weather comes. I Still say Jimmy that you have more than proven your hand tool skills and determination thus far but with so many other projects left to complete you really need to consider using more power tools and perhaps even other methods such as a prefab metal shed for the firewood which is essential for winter and easy access of wood during heavy winter weather.

SHAWN & OUR CALI !!! So great to see you on the Sunday Morning !!! I know the picking up is something for all of us to do around the home or cabin!!! I have found that Look up on the roof and do that when no Rain is there !!! Then go on 1 side and work around the area to do things !!! Had a wheel barrel but that I gave to my Son so I use a wagon got things to pick on up and make a wood pile inside of the garden area !!! For electrical wiring I always put my butt in weight for pulling the wiring on down!!!

Rockwool is really good stuff. Our home we recently built is insulated with it. So easy to install also

Excellent job Shawn. A well thought out plan for the junction of the cabin and breezeway roofs. However, I’d like to see how you will handle the overhangs. I think they would be uneven now but will they eventually be even after the cabin logs shrink/settle? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I always have a list of little jobs making the big ones look like a piece of cake. By the time this video ends you've probably accomplished half of them.

With this tempo and work ethic, it seems that all major tasks should be over by next Fall. I bet it's going to be such a relief for you to do only seasonal jobs like harvesting and storing vegetables, preparing fire wood etc. without having to juggle that with all the building. Very well done on job well done!
