What I learned when I quit drinking alcohol. This could change your life!
I am Simon Chapple, founder of Be Sober, This Naked Mind Certified Quit Alcohol Coach and author of The Sober Survival Guide - in this video I talk live on stage about 3 things I have discovered since I quit alcohol.
This Naked Mind Live 2019 in Denver, Colorado. Filmed live on stage, what I learned when I quit drinking.
I was a heavy daily drinker for over twenty years, I drank 1-3 bottles of red wine every day. The thought of even one day without drinking seemed impossible. As the years went by my anxiety got worse and worse, I was never truly happy or fulfilled in my life and I kept searching without success for a solution to unlock the key to my missing happiness.
But I couldn't find it, no Doctor, Counsellor or Hypnotherapist could get me where I needed to be. Why? Because the root cause of all my issues was inside those bottles of wine that I kept drinking day in, day out.
I finally realised I had become caught in an alcohol trap, that I was addicted and I needed to find a way out. This was the first step on an incredible journey of self discovery and personal development. Once I knew I had a problem with alcohol, I started to work on learning how to deal with it, then I started to take action and put what I had learned into practice.
I finally managed to cut alcohol out of my life for good. I have shared the tips, tools and tactics I used in many of the other videos here on my KZread channel. It was the best thing I have ever done, slowly my life turned around in so many wonderful and positive ways. My anxiety has since faded to almost nothing, I am happy again, my relationships with my wife, son and my friends has improved beyond belief. Not to mention the improvements in my sleep, motivation, overall health and happiness.
Since I quit drinking alcohol I have gone on to become a Certified Quit Alcohol Coach for This Naked Mind and released my first book The Sober Survival Guide, I also run one of Facebook's largest quit drinking groups. I have also talked on stage at a number of quit drinking live events and appeared on TV, Radio and in the national newspapers talking about how to quit drinking successfully.
ABOUT THIS NAKED MIND LIVE
This Naked Mind, founded by Annie Grace (author of the books This Naked Mind and The Alcohol Experiment) is a truly transformational weekend.
The event in 2019 was a sellout and was a life-changing experience for many people who attended. I witnessed people experiencing incredible breakthroughs, making commitments, and showing love and kindness for themselves and others.
It was a moving and powerful experience for everyone involved. This Naked Mind is a real community and experiencing it in person and having the honour of talking live on stage at This Naked Mind Live was incredible.
You can find out more about Be Sober and Simon at www.besober.co.uk - you can also get the first 10 chapters of my book free of charge here.

I was walking my lovely dog listening to this and cried my eyes out. I think I must have pressed reset about 60 times on Annie's alcohol experiment. I'm on day one again. I've felt really crappy and emotional today but have listened to a couple of your talks and starting to feel more positive. Looking forward to hearing more of your talks. Thanks Simon for giving us the REAL lowdowns and positive outcomes from ditching the booze. I really hope I can do it this time 😊

So inspiring, Simon! You were there at the start of my journey last year and now I'm at the point where I want to inspire others as well. I'm still pretty early in my new AF life, but I've never been happier. I can't wait to help other people get there too. Everything you said here is spot on 😊 Thank you for inspiring me, Simon!

Hi Jennifer, thanks for such a lovely comment, that means so much! You are doing amazing, well done. When we feel we have mastered an alcohol-free life I do think it is often a natural step to want to help others. You learn so much on the sober journey that it seems a shame not to share the knowledge, what worked for you, what didn't etc. To me I found this ramped up my accountability levels in a very positive way, it put a nice kind of pressure on me to never ever go back to drinking. I started out by helping people in my Facebook group, from there I trained and became a coach with Annie Grace at This Naked Mind, started being invited to speak in publuc and then I decided to write a book about my story along with all the tips, tactics and advice for quitting alcohol succesfully. It has been a life changing journey, I still have to pinch myself sometimes, I have been on the radio, TV and in the national news which is very surreal. I have seen so many other people go from a place where they are caught in the alcohol trap feeling like they can never escape then move onto helping and inspiring others to make a powerful and lasting change. Good for you, do keep me updated on your progress and if you ever wanted to share your story with me on a KZread video I would love to do it, I am sure it would inspire many people!

Simon Chapple - Be Sober - Quit Drinking I could not agree more! I’ve always wanted to help people in some way. And, I actually studied to be an addiction counselor in college, but I quit because I didn’t believe in the methods. This whole experience has reignited that. I am attempting to follow in your footsteps and it all sounds amazing (except maybe the public speaking part haha). It definitely provides a positive sort of responsibility and accountability. I am starting as a mentor now and definitely want to pursue coaching for Annie if I’m lucky. I was lacking a purpose for so long, it was actually something that fed my depression and led to drinking to numb that. Now I feel like I have a new lease on life and a purpose to work for. I want to be a sober rebel and get in on this sober revolution! I will definitely keep you posted, Simon. And, thanks again for all you do!
