You didn't know about the "St. Brice's Day Massacre"? You're not alone. I don't remember it from the English history I learned in University. I wonder why that is? Could it be ,as a wise man said (Frank Herbert, in God Emperor of Dune), that the past is always changing but few people realize it? But of course if you want to make a show about the Vikings you have the problem of audience sympathy. So a massacre and war of revenge definitely sounds better than an atrocious extortion racket (more Danegeld!)

No can do, it's America as a whole which is responsible for that. They don't have a civilization, yet they try to brainwash the entire world with their soft-power tactics (despite not having an actual culture, so influencing other cultures with emptyness = destruction). It's like Disney, they take folklore from all around the world and rearrange it to their political views. Then they can count on their mediocre fanboys to tell us "it's fiction stop being mad, you can make your own accurate version if you want" yet we all know these people don't actually care about the real stuff because it's more appealing to watch Marvel movies and Star Wars, to purchase all of their merch, watch all of their spin-offs for the sake of fan service and more profit by bringing artifical content to their stories. These people don't actually care about art and culture in general and don't even know the definition of one of these two to begin with.

First minute already contains a tremendous amount of nonsense on my bullshit-o-meter. If you want to learn about the ancient scandinavian folks and the other people of that time period, don't watch Netflix to begin with. Go watch documentaries, go to school, read serious books, don't listen to random paid actors giving their opinions instead of legit historical experts who will back their claims with sources, studies, debates and other findings into this and not some "omg I think viking wahmen were sooo liberated, they could marry and divorce unlike us karens nowadays (LMAO)". That's clearly propaganda and I know there are going to be fanboys responding "tHiS iS fIcTiOn, MaKe YoUr OwN sHoW iF uR nOt HaPpY lulz". It's like them finding that their outfits were heavy to wear, when we know that Vikings costumes were highly criticized in the first series, especially the armors which were looking nothing like european armors of that era, and even the regular civilian outfits which looked dull because the people who worked on that show didn't bother with doing any kind of research. This video is mostly opinions and no facts.

There are characters with the same names and roughly the same big plot points, but this is still a netflix action/drama/adventure series, not a documentary or a history book, which is what you should be looking at if you want to get educated, I don't think this show ever claimed to be historically accurate, it's simply based on real life characters. Also, I don't think you understand what propaganda means, there are lots of women that are not this liberated, not where you or I live, but in other parts of the world such as Asia and Africa. I can't really figure out what point you are trying to make with the armor

Best thing we can do is keep the real history alive. Those who watch this show and expected it to not be as convoluted and raped as it was were setting themselves up to fall. I watched it as I watch any decent fiction series. As fiction. Give it about 50 more years and all of western history will be rewritten and there is nothing we can do about it because the rewrites will be forcefed in schools. Keep the culture alive for as long as you can. Ragnarok has already happened I'm afraid. Best we can do is keep it alive at least for our generation.

0:41 What women is she talking about specifically? She can't possibly be talking about western women, that's for sure.

@@reckual6947 Then I'm really curious to know which group of women she is referring to. Because no other culture in the world is allowed to be criticized by western feminists for mistreating women other than white culture. But western culture is supportive of women. So it makes no sense. Either way she's in trouble.

the decision to change haakon so much can be critised sure, but it is very far from "pure political propaganda", it is just historically innaccurate in a show that never claimed to be anything else.
