I've had the Merrill biography by Langdon Hammer in my personal library for a while now and it's still waiting to be read. I'll get to it eventually! I'm curious now to read his letters. I recently purchased "James" and plan to read it this summer after I re-read Huck Finn. I always have reading goals and try to meet them when I can. Have a good week, Jonny. ✌🏻

Thank you for the comment. I look forward to reading the biography on James Merrill. I read Mark Twain's book 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' when I was nine years old. I have the Complete Works of Mark Twain in my library. I also should read Tom Sawyer. peace

Thank you for your video Jonny. There are so much to read that I don’t often read fiction books. But recently I started reading Elif Shafak’s books and I am enjoying them so much I can’t put them down. Worth checking them out, especially if you can get them used for few dollars. Two to mention are “The island of mission trees” and “10 minutes 38 seconds in this strange world” Please show us your recently acquired used books as soon as you can. I can’t wait to see what treasures you managed to find. Happy reading brother. Peace

@@saintonfire77 Honestly, aside from Whitman, none come to mind. I've become more conservative with age and see the necessity of meter of some kind in verse. I think the novelists Hubert Selby is a great wise man based on his AA talks, but I find most of writing to be degrading and profane.

@@marchowe1629 I also like the poetry of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickenson. I read poetry because I love language. I have come across the name Hubert Selby but have not read any of his poetry. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

When I mentioned secular historians I was referring to works on the puritans. People like Samuel Eliot Morrison, Perry Miller, Edmund Morgan ,etc. Also how about Peter Marshal and David Manuel on the Light and the Glory etc. The Salem Witch Trials, colonial law based on the Word of God once again like the New England puritans. Thanks!
