This is wonderful, thank you so much. I love how your little one just gets in there and helps you out, and you don't freak out at all about him being so close to the stove, knives, getting his fingers in the food, etc. lol. Keep it coming. Your presence and info you share is incredibly grounding.

I'm always trying to research the relationship between food and ADHD and lately that rabbit hole has taken me down to looking at estrogen etc. I watched a video earlier on a talk on histamines by Dr Georgia Ede who's a psychiatrist that is really pushing to look at the link between food and mental illness etc., and something she said immediately made me think about you and how you were struggling to stick to gaps when you fell pregnant. She said that after 3 months of pregnancy anyone who has histamine issues will have major benefits because your baby will cause your body to release huge volumes of a chemical or hormone or whatever. So in second and third trimester its like you have taken loads of anti hestimines / allergy tablets. Anyway amongst other things, histamines and estrogen affect one another and the reason that your pregnant body doesn't like histamines is because it can cause you uterus to contract or something. But for the first 3 months of pregnancy you don't have this protection yet. So foods that are high in histamines are foods that aren't extremely fresh. So foods that are preserved for a bit with nearly any method from refrigeration to fermentation have more histamines (freezing might be better if you freeze very fresh stuff). Like aged or cured meat and cheese etc has a lot of histamines or histamine growing bacteria or something. What I'm getting to is that I think that even though a gaps or keto or whatever diet might generally be very nutritious and good for you; it might put your baby at risk in the first trimester which is maybe why people really struggle to stick to a diet that was fine before pregnancy. Like your body would rather have you purge your food if the histamines might harm your baby. So my hypothesis based on all of that; in spite of my low carb nutrition and dietary preferences; I would probably live off of potatoes and rice for my first trimester if I fall pregnant. Basically I think you're doing great by listening to your body during this period and avoiding say your normal fermented foods etc. Sorry for this long and rambling message! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

It's awesome you mentioned Natasha's newer book. I bought it when it had first come out. I'm going with a No Plants version of Gaps. Do you think eventually us No Planters could move on to the actual Gaps diet?

Do you have any recommendations for pregnancy while doing full GAPS? My body is craving carbs and I have really not wanted to eat meat (as much). I know I can have potatoes, fruit, and whatnot, but I've been feeling really weak in the mornings, so I know I need to eat a bit more.

Good question! I am going into this more in detail in an upcoming video, but since doing heavy metal chelation with Dr. Becky Plotner, he can come off of GAPS with no issues. But for the most part he is sticking to full GAPS for another 2 years :)
