What I eat in a day at Yale! College dining hall during covid means we had to get all meals in to-go boxes. It was also finals week this week so everyone was studying all day(ish) - getting food to go was actually kinda convenient. As always, hope everyone is having a great holiday season and staying safe! I miss our dining halls so much haha

I have vivid memories of being in my high chair with grandmom coming up behind me with my princess plate of scrambled eggs and a bottle of ketchup. She would always shake the bottle so aggressively and then draw a big smiley face on my eggs with the ketchup. I will forever eat only scrambled eggs with ketchup because of that woman.

Food looks really yummy but come on... All that one time use plastic, it's so sad to see. Yale could really provide you with boxes that are returnable or made out of paper/bamboo. And if they don't do it, bring your own cup/containers. So much plastic waste...

That's my thoughts exactly! I don't know about your own container (not sure how easy students can wash dishes) but a system to reuse containers would be better

My guess is additional costs? As plastic is cheaper than investing in paper/bamboo reusable packaging.

@@Kaatiiebx that’s probably the reason which sucks because Yale (of all colleges) probably most definitely has the financial resources, knowledge, & platform to make a difference when it comes to being more ethical. They could make a big difference but they aren’t 😔

Great question. At my university they had you pay for your food per semester. You pay 8n advance and use a swipe card. About 3 meals per day. Anything extra straight out of pocket.

Loved your video and food options. Very diverse and fresh. As a fat woman I would get so much shame for making the choices you made. Happy you dont have to go through this kind of judgment.

I understand that you feel this way, but it seems kind of unfair to direct this to her. (since in your sentence you referred it to 'you'). She has nothing to do with the unfair stigma around all you can eat buffets (which; like I said is unfortunately true and it's understandable that that form of judgmental behavior is a shitty and unfair thing you have to deal with). I think it is important to keep that in mind when directing a comment at her.

Of course anybody who knows anything knows that New Haven is famous for pizza what with Frank Pepe and Sally and Modern right there is town. I've tried Frank Pepe's several times including their locations at Yonkers and Danbury. Never tried the other two.
