    This is what you get from Houston being the only major US city to have NO zoning laws. There are still codes, and some neighborhoods do have private deed restrictions, but there is no actual zoning law in Houston proper at all.

    I agree I left Houston after 5 years. I had a 500k home next to a trailer home, I was like WTH??. I moved to Castle Hills that’s a suburb of San Antonio, zoning laws here are high and day here between Houston.

    This the very outskirts of the city. That’s like going to NYC and driving in NJ. You should have started in the inner city neighborhoods of Montrose, The Heights, Downtown, Museum District, Rice Village, Upper Kirby, and Uptown. I mean you’re in the boonies.

    I used to love going to Houston during the summers when I was a kid. It was my summer vacation from school. I’d stay there the whole summer with my older sister and brother-in-law. AstroWorld theme park, NASA, The Galleria, Houston Oilers and Houston Astros at the Astrodome, Battleship of Texas just outside of Houston in San Jacinto, Galveston Island just a few miles from Houston as well, were some of the places I used to go to. Was there back in 2012, but it was just for the day to take a physical for an offshore oil rig job, other than that, I hadn’t been there in ages, I know a lot has changed throughout the years. So many fond memories spending my summers there. Maybe I’ll move there someday and start a new life if God gives me more years of life here on earth. I’ve been fighting cancer for little over a year.

    This area you see is about 15 miles from downtown. Houston annex a lot of these unincorporated area around the edge of the city. Developments continue moving further out or back inside the loop giving it a donut effect. The inner city and outer suburbs are nice but everything in between is bland and kind of run down

  • @thejacka24

    @thejacka24

    2 жыл бұрын

    This is literally the same for Kansas City, Missouri. When you go to the inner city it's very dense but you can go 10 miles from Downtown and it is kind of run down and you can even run into some "rural" parts. It's not like KC is a small city either, the city itself has over 500,000 and the metro has around 2.3 Million. So you end up with a dense inner city but as you go out you can get random pockets of low density or even ruralish parts but when you go out further you end up in dense suburbs such as Blue Springs, Lee's Summit, or even Liberty.

    It's weird😌 but Houston is the type of city that no two sides of town look alike so titling the video implying that this represents how Houston looks as a whole is a little misleading, and may leave some residents who are not even familiar with this type of area offended. This looks foreign When comparing to the area that I live in. It looks like two different cities. To be honest I'm not even familiar with areas that resemble this, so that tells you how different and unique this place can be. I enjoy your videos😌

  • @dagneytaggart7707
    @dagneytaggart77072 жыл бұрын

    Oh my gosh. I drive that all the time. I have an adopted aunt in that area. Houston doesn't have formal zoning, so you get many mixed use areas. Subdivisions may have deed restrictions that govern property use and upkeep, but those apply only to that particular subdivision.

  • @yunyunpilled

    I’m glad you made this video because you do show the REAL side of Houston. Where about 50% of our suburbs still have homes from the 50s-70s and 80s. But the reason why ppl don’t change bc it just works. Yes, you could go to the flashy nice new parts of houston and just make your judgements that way but showing this just goes to show that our city still needs a lot of love and has more potential to be even greater. We’re glad you came to visit and you’re always welcome to come back. Be safe and God bless y’all.

My Dad bought a house out there . The residents use to ride their horses on Richmond Ave. The road was made of dirt , shell's. People had Stables in their yard. It was very beautiful 🌹❤️. Clean. The ease of getting around Houston and its 30+ surrounding cities and unincorporated Harris County makes it a good place to be. Diversity is a huge plus. No matter where you are from you can find other expatriates from your home country or your former state. No zoning helps keep down FRAUD and extortion in the construction industry.

    Man everyone makes Houston sound like Barbieland. Truth is Houston sucks. I'm a 30 year old virgin, autistic empath, & I despise this city, especially it's suburbs. The worst planning in the world, the most inefficient road system ever built, it's as anti-human as a city can possibly be. It's built strictly for cars yet traffic is horrible everywhere. Find a place a bird could fly to in a minute & it takes half an hour by car. Now I am not a virgin out of karma. I have a feeling if I lived in some European cosmopolitan city I would have gotten plenty of female lovers by now. I am not around females enough for them to find me charming or creepy. Most young adult ladies I do see in public don't even know I'm there.
