What height do I attach a hose reel to a brick wall

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

What height is best to install a retractable hose reel to a brick wall, let’s get started…
This hose reel was in a really odd place, I’m going to install it here, in a better location near this tap.
The height you install the retractable hose reel is personal preference but here is a guideline, some manufacturers say to Install at waist height or between 800mm to a metre from the ground
to get the opening inline with your hand, or where it’s comfortable for you.
Installed at a height where it is clear of anything it may hit when it swivels left and right, and near enough to a tap that it can connect to.

If manufactures had videos like this for their products you'd have a lot more people that would be comfortable with doing installations themselves versus hiring someone. Good stuff!

This is perfect. I have a new reel waiting to be installed. My wall is rendered. Is there any way to check that I'm drilling into brick and not drilling into mortar before I start drilling?

Hey Michael, I don't know if there is an answer.. if anyone else can help out that would be great. Can you stand back and see any pattern through the render? If not, I suggest you ask at the hardware store for a fixing that suits both brick and/or mortar👌 that should keep you out of trouble. Best of luck mate, let us know how you get on 👍 Kent

If it’s a rendered brick wall just mark out where you want your holes and try the top left hole and use a thin drill bit and see if it’s mortar or brick , if it’s mortar , it’s more of a possibility it’s the horizontal part , so you can use that as a gauge and then measure your holes above or below that marker. Because you know where the mortar is so now you can imagine where rhe brick would be. As long as the top and bottom screws and securely in brick the hose will be fine. Just make sure the attachment is level or the hose will turn on its own towards the lean unless that’s what you want it do . Ps your rendering must be pretty good if you can see an outline of a brick anywhere 👌because you could calculate where the wrest of the bricks roughly are
