What Has to Change at Mass NOW w/ Fr. Donald Calloway

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We find ourselves in unprecedented times, where over 69% of Church going Catholics no longer believe in the unchanging dogma of Christ's presence in the Eucharist. This is a grave problem that all men must ask themselves: Why? Fr. Donald Calloway joins John Heinen to discuss the reasons this has been an increasing problem over the last 50 years and the solutions. Reverence and love of Christ in the Eucharist is paramount to getting to heaven and there are actions that everyone can do now. In addition, we discuss his newest book on the Eucharist and the Mass that will help you be a better son or daughter of the Church. This is a great conversation with practical steps we can all use.

I am 93+ years old, born and raised Catholic, went along with Vatican ll. because it came from the Pope, but I truly missed the altar railing for communion on the tongue. For me, Vatican ll and the priest facing the congregation did not enhance my faith, in fact I was not a very good Catholic for a long while 😢. Today saying the rosary a few times a day is my precious blessing, especially since I am physically confined at home (in the loving care of my daughter). I beg you, say the Holy Rosary, daily 🙏✝️🙏😊

to Evie Nelson, I try enhancing my, in uncertainty, belief by ensuring thinking gift as well as insuring feeling having faith need in keeping in uncertainty of my belief their inseparability and qualitative equality. This keeping is on the reference point of Mary given at the Rosary Mysteries based on Lk 1:29-45 and Mt 1:24, particularly Lk 38 as ensuring: "let it be to me", and Matthew 1:24 as insuring: "Joseph ... took his wife".

to Gary Manz, in uncertainty, I believe that I cannot contribute to an effective eucharistic revival without my identity-role marriage's 'double keeping' of the inseparability and qualitative equality of: (a) my procreation gift roles and my need of union identity, (b) my need of union identities, and my confession, including amends, for failing in this double keeping. This 'double keeping' is termed the "multiplier" of economic processes and non-economic progress as believed revealed at Exodus 3:14 as the "I AM WHO I AM". The "Multiplier" has been referred to in worldwide economics since 1931 by Colin Clark who as an economist/statistician of national accounts was described by famous economist, Alfred Lord Keynes, as "quite first class".

I was kind of shocked when I came to Canada to see the long lineups for the communion but the short ones for the confession. I was taught that you commit a capital sin to take communion without confessing to your other capital sins. Or maybe all these people have no sin to confess to?! 🤔

  • @Rich_Tea2

I agree. Some may not go to confession on the basis that they're not in mortal sin and when they go to Mass (maybe daily), all their venial sins are forgiven during Mass .That may be technically correct (we're required to go to confession once a year in the run up to Easter, and this requirement holds true if we're in mortal sin) but there are some who see that as a minimum. We're recommended to go to confession often (at least monthly), even if we're not in mortal sin and go to Mass at least weekly. One reason for this is that we receive graces from confession that we don't get simply by attending Mass.

On the contrary, this is all about “religion” and God hates religion (because He already finished the work FOR US when He died, was buried, and rose again the third day). There is “no boasting” but you are boasting in your Catholic Church and unsound doctrine, which is heresy (Romans 3:27 KJB). JESUS WASN’T TALKING TO YOU IN THE RED LETTERS! Gentiles were “dogs” in Jesus’s earthly ministry to Israel (Matthew - John). Peter is NOT your apostle - Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles (Romans 11:13 KJB). This is the gospel of the grace of God: Jesus can’t be sacrificed over and over. He died and rose again ONCE. Jesus has no more blood - he already shed all of it at Calvary to pay for your sin and mine in full. Don’t trust in your CC. They are lying to you. Learn sound doctrine from the word of God for yourself. “Study to shew (yes, “SHEW”) thyself approved unto God” (so you can be an unashamed workman - 2 Timothy 2:15 KJB). “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and dictribe. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2 Timothy 4:2-5 KJB) Grace and Peace!

The Priest chastised me for interrupting the decoration and asked me if I knew how busy priests are. I was crushed. I left crying. That priest, hopefully, knows that what he said and did was so wrong. I’m pretty sure that Jesus would drop everything he’s doing in order to hear a confession and give absolution to someone who sincerely wanted to confess. We have too many priests out there that are more concerned with the tangible things of this world than they are of saving souls. Sad but true.

After returning, it took a little while for me to feel the transubstantiation. Today, I am brought to tears as that host becomes the body and blood of Christ. I have to take a knee and receive the Blessed Sacrament on my tongue. I love the Catholic Church. My heart breaks for those who do not understand or believe. I have also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Afterward, I go to my pew and cry for those who do not believe they have truly received His body and His blood. To all the Priest that are watching this video, you can make the changes in your Parish. Just get some Kneelers and place them in front borderind the Sanctuary. It's not hard to do. And the men reading this comment who has the financial ability to purchase enough Kneelers for the Parish that you attend, please take the initiative to do so. Talk to your Parish Priest about it and hopefully you can get it done. Let him know that it is much more efficient and no need of a so called Eucharistic Ministers. And if the Tabernacle is not front and center, try to accomplish that. If any men can accomplish this it would be a huge blessing to the Parish and would make a huge impact in the Parish. Be an example to the women and children of the Parish. With effort it can be accomplished.

I can't help but wonder why a priest that witnesses week after week, people, especially the elderly, go down on their knees to the floor to receive Our Lord on the tongue, and struggle to come back up. They definitely seem to have no compassion toward them.. They don’t even make an effort to place a kneeler or two for those who wish to reverence Our Lord in such a humble way. It almost seems cruel. God's mercy I pray. There is only one parish that I know of in this Diocese , where that priest puts a kneeler for those who prefer to receive Jesus so humbly. It's so easy🙏

Not necessary if you love Jesus. You will see Jesus in every language on earth and everybody are seeing even, tribal people. But our, form of worship is different that's all. We believe when the priest says This is my body and This is my blood the bread and wine changes into the the real Body and blood of Jesus. This is the most important part of The Holy Mass. I saw Baby Jesus in the hands of the priest when he lifted up The Holy Eucharist and said. " Is the Lamb of God" I saw Baby Jesus in his hand. Baby Jesus was wearing a white shinning dress. The next week I saw Mother Mary was standing at the priest place when the priest said " This is the Lamb of God " she was helping Baby Jesus to stand on the Altar. They were clad in the traditional Jewish costume. From a little girl I love the mass I long to, receive the Holy Eucharist. God Mother Mary know me that's why they showed themselves to me. Dated July 2019 .i also had ''a message A day will come when the church will be closed '' just before covid. Reason I didnot have transport to go to church and I wanted to turn back from the bus, stop.it will take one hour to travel by light rail transport. And then walk to the church. So I will be late no point going I thought so I got the message. I was never late I prayed on the way and I will be there when the priest was giving the sermon. I thanked God I was happy because I can receive The Holy Eucharist. Pls pass my message. Thank you.

I went to Catholic School in the 60’s until grade 5. Then our family moved and I started going to a public school. My 2 best friends were also Catholic, we used to go to Church together on Sundays. But we started going and only staying until the collection. Then by the age of 15-16 we stopped going, this was the time the NO mass was implemented. I started going back to Church right before we got married. I started receiving in the hand and from lay people, not knowing how wrong I was!! I started listening to you tube videos and realized how wrong I’d been. About 4 years ago, My husband and I moved our seats to the other side of the alter so as to recieve communion on the tongue by only the priest!!

Also, I am 77. I’ve watched this all my life when I was a little girl in the Catholic school. I used to go to the church and they always explained that when the light candle- was on Jesus was there the red light. And I used to go visit Jesus and we learned that as we were young in the Catholic school. We just automatically knew Jesus was there. Unfortunately, this generation or two hasn’t even learned that which is pretty sad. You’re right Father there’s bad teaching …and honestly if somebody really explained the gospel of John, chapter 6, and around that they would understand the biblical understanding of His presence, if they understood the depth and bible it would help.

Amen sister, and that goes for teaching people how to find and use a Lexicon which defines biblical words (in context of book, chapter, and verse). Given that, check this out! The Greek word for "life" that Jesus uses in John 6:53 to describe the life we only have with Him through the Eucharist properly received is "Zoe"; and here's the definition: life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last forever I also heard Dr. Hahn say once that was the same life we lost in the Garden before getting kicked out so we wouldn't be in that fallen state eternally. Jesus has been working to get us back to our original state, but better with knowing good and evil now, ever since. His flesh and blood in the Eucharist is the culmination of His passover work on the cross for us in that regard. Amazing! Check out the 4th Cup by Dr. Hahn if you haven't already. In Christ, Andrew

I remember when changes came to our parish church after Vatican Ii. Fortunately I was well grounded, and never lost faith in the real presence of our Lord. I started wearing a mantilla again in the past few years, and actually had a fransiscan at our parish, as I came up to (face to face, unfortunately) confession, I was told to take that off, you aren't 11 years old. Bring back: only the priest, with the Altar Boy holding the large plate?- I don't recall the proper name. Receive kneeling and on the tongue,at the altar rail. As you also said, bring the Sacristy back to the Center , behind the Altar. Dare I add: Sacred Music, and Sacred Silence- not conversing in the pew before Mass, gathering in the aisle after to make small talk. Can I hope for the return of a bell, at the Consecration??? The faithful and the liturgical committee have to live the faith for others to see. If the Mass is Sacred, act in that manner. Collectively, the actions belie the words spoken at every Mass when we say together the creed.

Father Calloway you can get Consecrated to pray the Tridentine Mass as their must be provisions in Cannon Law for Apostacy times like this in the Council of Trent. The Bull Qou Premium of Trent of St Pius Fifth is in Perpetuity. If anyone should change this Canon of the Tridentine Mass let him know he invokes the wrath of Almighty God and Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul. This Bull is Perpetuity given at the time of Luther, Calvin and Cramer. As all three Reformers didn't believe in the Transubstansiation or the Real Presence of the Glorious Body of Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass represented for our generations in the Altar in Heaven. It needs to change back, and we need prelates that will actually walk in Christ. To be firm and courageous about our ancient and beautiful and TRUE faith. That's some "changes" the Church needs: to undo the Protestantism, infidelity, worldliness and modernism and other errors and heresies and go back to the Apostolic One True Faith instituted by Jesus Christ, God the Son, in person.

I am so fortunate to have a parish that has a communion rail where 99% kneel. Even with that only a small % receive communion in the hand. We also have a beautiful Latin Mass every Sunday and during the week. The confessional lines are long and confessions are held before every Mass. Father Calloway is correct and hopefully the Church will wake up and return to tradition. Tradition meaning all the old rules to bring back belief in the Eucharist. 🙏 Thank you this wonderful talk.

As a senior over 70 who lives alone, I find it difficult to come up with sins that make confession worthwhile every 4 weeks. I feel guilty taking up the priests time for one or two small matters.

If there are so many people viewing and commenting on this video, these are the people that need to pray for renewal in our Church and parishes. After growing in prayer, these are the people that need to support the priests of their local parish and help in the ways that are needed in time, treasure, and talent. All three of these.

At a Novus Ordi funeral Mass three years ago I assisted in a high-end Scottsdale parish with a packed house. I happened to find a pew seat right behind Bishop Thomas Olmsted who was not a con-celebrant, but simply a member of the congregation. That Mass was a certain eye-opener for me. Not one rubric was followed, there were secular songs being sung, not one person in that church building knelt during the consecration or the entire Communion Rite, except for myself and Bishop Olmsted. The culture of that Scottsdale parish was avant guard, modernist and caucus. It was a disgraceful departure from a typical reverent NO Mass, not to mention a TLM Mass. After the funetal Mass was all over and most had left the Church proper for the auditorium for a luncheon, I stood and looked around at the empty Interior. There was no Tabernacle, not one icon anywhere of any sort ---- bare walls in a futuristic interior. There was not a statue of our Lord on His crucifix, not a likeness of Our Lady, nor of any Saint anywhere. It was stark, empty and cold. There was a full orchestra pit built into a section of the pew in front of the altar. This was a parish church that held easily 500 people and only five years old. As I was walking out to the parking lot, I walked by the funeral limousine, parked all alone with noattendant. The body casket was present and unattended. I was staring at the auditorium and heard music and noise. A person walked by and asked me, "What do you think of our beautiful parish? I said, " Gorgeous gardens you have and a nice Protestant Church you have here." Bishop Olmsted was our Bishop when that parish was built. Why didn't he put a stop to what happened there? After being at that funeral for one of his priests, why has the church not changed? People tell me that nothing has. Bishop Olmsted was one of the "good" bishops. He fell asleep on the job. He knew that the big money in that north Scottsdale location demanded a Protestant veneer. This is how we dove into an empty pool face first. This is what Vatican II gave us 60 years ago. Your discussions are useless unless priests and bishops wake up from their longhibernation. Our Father knows who is sleeping.

I have no way of attending a TLM. I feel abandoned by my catholic church. I miss all the wonderful ways we worshiped in the 50s and early 60s. No more retreats, Holy Name Rallies, or even frequent confession. We must return to altar rails and Communion on the tongue. Put the altar back with the tabernacle on the altar. Put the reverence back in our noisy church.

Every morning at 2.30 AM EST - I'm awake and attending Mass online at St. James in Accra, Ghana (where it's 6.30 AM) This is a NO Mass but done with reverence and commitment. The parish Priests are excellent and their sermons are full of grounded practical wisdom. The people are very involved - and every weekday at 6.30 AM there are at least 40 or 50 people there, well dressed and dignified. This is SO different from ... daily Mass at my neighborhood church here in Pittsburgh - St. Paul's Cathedral - where the Mass is perfunctory and somehow un-spiritual, despite the beautiful white marble architecture. I also watch the 8 AM daily Mass online from Milan's Cathedral (one of my Greatgrandmas was from Milan) - the Cathedral a dark cold place, the Priests professional and rather aristocratic - and there are 10 or fewer people in the pews. I grew up before Vatican II and the Latin Mass was the center of my childhood. Left the Church during the subsequent confusions. Have had a complicated relationship to the Church ever since.

We left our parish last year when the new priest was consecrating in glass dishes, embarrassing those who receive on the tongue and handing out the Eucharist like a pez dispenser….holding about 7-8 hosts in his hand. When it came time for us to receive on the tongue he paused and was pondering how to give us Jesus with 7 hosts in his hand.

"Putting on your best" means different things to different people. Not enough is said about modesty. It boggles my mind when I see a 75 year old woman who shows up to Sunday Mass wearing a tight, short, low-cleavage nightclub dress that you typically see on a young twenty-Something yr old. Is she serious 😳🫣 ??? Sadly, yes. 😔 Obviously, she has no awareness or understanding of modesty. I can only pray for her illumination by the grace of God. I belong to a TLM parish and it's not the laity's place to approach someone like this with the "dress code". We leave that to our pastor/priests. Side note: Calling the young ladies "honey" is not appropriate, especially given the scandals of the church, overall. Just say'in.

My parish, handed over from the Vaitorians to the, now, archdiocese of LV, is now being run by two different orders. I have seen a growth in the confessional lines (many are the same). I go once to twice a month and I feel the need to appropriately use the sacraments to protect my soul from what is going on in our nation. I am hopeful it will continue to grow, the priests have been pressing the people in the parish about the Holiness of the Eucharist. When the letter from a parishioner was read, I was in shock…..

It was sometime between 2011-2015 that I visited a parish in a state I just moved to. The parish was having a weekly meeting to discuss a poll that showed that very few Catholics believed in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. I was so aggravated with this parish and how it went over their heads that part of the problem was the lack of teaching in their own church. The priest wouldnt hear me when I spoke to him. This was a church that had the tabernacle off to the side and everyone genuflected towards the altar. The woman, I don't know what you call her, the Sacristan? The one with the key to the tabernacle who retrieved the hosts or put them away, NEVER genuflected to the tabernacle. She bowed to the altar, had to walk at least 20 feet to the left, I don't think she even bowed to the tabernacle as she approached. When I asked random parishioners why we genuflect (acting like I didn't know) the response was about giving reverence to the altar. With all this, the priest is oblivious to why people don't believe in the Real Presense? None of the people even know why we genuflect!
