    I'm willing to bet in a couple of these cases that the officers knew of some specific story where someone in their department had done something they shouldn't have and were thinking they were being proactive. SMH. I kinda understand where it comes from, since these people spend time dealing with life and death situations on a daily basis, but that shouldn't put them above the law. This is why we need to take things like this completely out of their hands where their personal bias can't play a role on the complaints process. Set up a branch of the FBI who's sole purpose is to process complaints around the country made anonymously online. With modern technology, it is becoming harder and harder to hide evidence of crimes like this. Once the entire country is outfitted properly with body cameras, less and less nonsense will be able to pass.

    We should do a collective flashmob complaint day. One person walks into every single police station around the country and asks for the complaint form. Then they are threatened to be murdered or arrested, and now we have something to file a complaint on. The same people then go home, file it online using the recorded material from this interaction. Rinse and repeat once a month.

I believe in a more comprehensive police reform than just firing some bad apples, although that would be a great start! Unfortunately I think that a lot of it has to do with in-house internal affairs investigations and lack of independent oversight of the process, as well as the power that police unions have, that's why I'm partaking in the protests, but we don't riot.

    The problem is that most of THESE kinds of cops never went to a "cop school". No academy training. No law enforcement degree. Nothing but previous military experience, or sometimes just a willingness to crack skulls thanks to their former "career" as a school bully. These cops are not people who give a shit about the law. They didn't become cops because they want to protect & serve, nor because they care about law enforcement. They become cops because it's a way to legally continue being aggressive bullies, or because they're ex-military guys that were too dumb to make a career in the armed forces or any other career after their discharge. We should make it requirement that EVERY cop either has a degree in law enforcement, or has attended and graduated from a proper police academy. The fast-tracking departments have been doing with ex-military applicants has been terrible for our nation. Military service is a good thing, but not every person who enters the military has the temperament or social skills to be a police officer. They're entirely different skillsets.

They should have the forms online so you can download , print, fill it out and send to internal affairs end of story. Why do you need to tell another officer who is his buddy what you are reporting. Makes no damn sense to me. They want your ID to fill out a form why? So they can get your address, stalk and harass you into dropping complaint. I wouldn't give them my ID either.

    This happened to my family about 13 years ago. I was 14 walking home at around 10pm after playing football with friends and yes some of them were gang related (I wasnt). This was in Chicago anyways while walking home with 3 other friends one of them gang related the cops stopped us and told us to get on our knees. I didn't react fast enough because i was scared not to mention the 3 flash lights on my face so one of the cops use a baton and hit the back of my knee so I can get on my knees. They checked us found nothing but still drove up about a mile or two from where we were to another gangs territory and left us there. All my friends ran but I couldn't run because my knee was messed up so I had walk. Luckily no one was hurt but I did get home late. When I arrived home I told my parents what happened and they When the next day to file a report but my dad said they didn't have forms and said one of the cops got aggressive and confrontational. My Dad ended up staying in the police station all day and night then left off with out justice ever being served. I wasn't actually friends with the kid walking with me including the gang bangers. We just lived on the same block and chose to walk together. Till this day I've had a fear of cops. A few years ago I got stopped by cops while driving and immediately started panicking. At first the cops thought I was hiding something but I was able to explain to them that I have a few of cops from my childhood and very Luckily they understood and left me go. But yeah this looks really bad and I'll bet some of these cops still work and are in a position of power

    Some of these news vids look so old. I always like to remind people of how much we need the police. Without police it would be a fucking nightmare to live anywhere. With that said, I'm very glad to see corruption like this exposed. I understand that sometimes cops can make hasty mistakes when in dangerous scenarios but having a citizen ask for a complaint form is something they should always know how to handle properly(just give them the damn form). Stop trying to cover each other's backs when it comes to exposing one another's bad actions. If there's clarity and nothing to hide, just follow the law and grant the civilian the right to complain. The way these cops treated the investigators was disgusting.

If your standing up for LE in general as I idea as a whole. Goody for you you’ll attract more flies with honey than you will vinegar. Also you don’t sound very American and if that’s the case why does your opinion matter? Ya y’all say Trump is racist but our “prime minister” (president in our case) has never had a sexual scandal with something outside his species 🍆🐖🍆🐖🍆🐖🍆 David Cameron. 🤣😂🤣😂 get a passport and see for yourself uneducated one. I actually have been tased and sprayed for training. I actually swore into a position of duty. I actually only worked for less than 2 years before I gave my 2 weeks and applied with DHL as a first officer (first officer meaning pilot this time not a cop that people want to shoot at for fun. Co pilot to be specific). What have you done? Formed an opinion? Based on? Videos? You sure are well informed. I lived it. Worked it. If you think it’s such a dreamy job move here and do it. Níðhöggr wrong again. No the purge would happen if religion is ever found to be just a dogma to protect us from people acting as such. Think about it as a kid your thought killing is wrong. Why? “Because you’ll go to hell” but if we just die and nothing happens after what is stopping us from settling disputes ourselves? Like I said, go take a look into the life of a cop and see what all is actually being changed. There are places in the cities at night the police know better than to roll through. I know of an entire street in Houston if you call 911 and you are being killed the police will not show up any sooner than 7am the next morning. BECAUSE OF POLICY. Again I thank you for taking up for the FEW good men and women trying to connect with their community and serve them to the fullest. I know. I was one of those guys. The other side of the badge is a pretty sketchy place to be. Just because you have a badge doesn’t make you Superman. If you shoot me I bleed just like you. I can get just as scared as you did, what makes me any different? Training? Training didn’t delete that voice that’s screaming at you to run the other direction. Not trying to be a asshole I just disagree wholeheartedly with what your saying. The police are not the catch all. They can’t. It’s impossible. It’s like fishing. Can you catch them all? No, then celebrate the big ones and keep fishing.

    I'd be for this. I don't know about other places, but you can file a complaint (or a compliment) online for the Atlanta PD. Pretty sure you can for most of the bigger police stations. Maybe it would be helpful to have a system to complain outside of the internal police department, however. Have a branch of the FBI dedicated specifically to looking into such complaints. Body cameras are making such things very easy to confirm or dispute these days.

  • @danagray9709

    @danagray9709

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Millenial Picasso Well, you'd be surprised how often the police will respond to any credible complaint even when not made through official channels. Usually, the answer is to release body cam footage of the instance since these complaints are often verifiably false. Most police departments take certain types of complaints with severe seriousness and will work pretty fast to dispute them (any complaint of racism or sexual assault will be answered within a couple of days at worst). I watch a channel called "Donut Operator" run by an ex-cop who goes over the body cam footage that is released and explains why cops respond and act the way they do. Whether you agree with his conclusions or not (I don't always myself), you'll certainly learn a LOT about what is going on in these encounters and it will make you see future videos in a different light when you see how much of what people criticize is specific training and policy, and why that training and policy is in place.
