    I had a similar experience last year (but with a foothold). Tracked the coyote for about 2 miles through hell and high snow hoping he would get tangled on something. Finally gave up, considered publishing my experience on KZread but decided against it. Kudos to you for putting it out there for others to learn. Now I almost exclusively use drags for my coyote sets. We can't use cable restraints in NY... But I no longer try to assume a coyote's strength

    Only reason I posted was to hope to teach some people, drags would work on that property but my other places are pretty wide open so idk how well drags would work

    If that is the case just use regular types of traps instead of restraints, types of traps. It takes a man to admit that they made a mistake and learn from it to change the way they do things and not repeat mistakes. You are still very good at what you are doing keep God's work up. Thank you for what you do! If you are still going to use the restaurants use a stronger, type of wire to build that type of trap or install a type of shocking system, that allows them to do what they want to do and still be in the same place. Sincerely! R.S.V.

    dang ... I would never set just a 2 foot small T rebar for coyotes ! I've had them pull out 36" half inch rebar with a big washer welding on the top. I now use 36" chain & bullet style anchor driven in ... they don't get away now ! Trapper J is really going to ride your ass now buddy !! Let us know if you're missing that 650 tomorrow - cuz a big coyote will pump that small stake out of the ground my friend !! Good Luck!

    That’s the first rebar I’ve lost in 15years I’ve always tan 30in rebar and have never had a problem but I also haven’t ran much cables, only caught 34 coyotes last year and like the 14 years prior never came close to losing rebar, but I’m also trapping in newer places and this ground is so damn soft but yes need king rebar for this place

    I think we all make mistakes here and there. Good time to be out setting steel! Question though, no offense. I struggled to see why you were using t bar, but sounded like you ran out of Wolfgangs. You could double those t bars in the meantime if you needed. I'm only saying if it happened once chances are probable that it could happen again. Good video, only here to help and be a blessing.

    @@trappedupoutdoors2409 , I run pogo myself. The most I've had a coyote pull the stake in my cables was 3 inches. I run the bigger washers 18 inches. Not much investment, cut if I want to. Don't let me change your ways. I'm just making a suggestion.

    @Trapped UP Outdoors think about it, you wouldn't have to run the cameras and rush out to dispatch. I will say though Missouri needs to change our entanglement laws. I have a few chew out every year, usually happens when it's real cold out, even though I check early in the morning, it still happens.

    Shit happens, buddy. I don't look at it being lazy. If you didn't have a camera there you would never have known it till you got there. 98% of the people would have never shown that. Great job in keeping it real. 👍🏻

    That's why I never use steel Stakes everything I set is with a disposable steak they won't pump them out like I do still

  • @randymyers5086
    @randymyers5086 Жыл бұрын

    Those T handle steaks shouldn't be used because of wrape up on the T. They pump the steak up a little the cable can wrape. You can use the steak but it has to have a nut or washer on the top. Do want you want but one day you'll find out.

    Appreciate the comment and yeah I learned a little from this happening, I’m used to trapping on harder ground, I went back and doubles my steaks and crossed them for the mean time until I can get more Wolfgang or longer rebar with washers made

    I have this happen all the time if i dont have entanglement. stakes are not the problem but i get chew outs.. thats why i think the "no entanglement" laws are dumb. I live in Ohio and we are allowed entanglement but must use relaxing retraints. I wont set unless there is entanglement. When i dont have entanglement the coyotes chew my snares right off. Im always amazed when i see trapper J catch coyotes without entanglement. Never used a earth anchor in my life. Stakes or quicklink to trees is what i do.
