Yes, that's right freeze a little less than half full, then add more water later...it won't push the bottle to breaking point.

U can't fix it. All substances contract on freezing and expand on heating and water does the same but when it reaches 4℃ it starts expanding instead of contacting. This is called anomalous behavior of water. If u don't want this to happen again just don't fill the bottle to a 100% fill it up to 80 to 90% to let the water expand. BRUH THIS IS BASIC PHYSICS
