Guys, my words come from experience.... Absolutely avoid coffee at all costs. It's a diuretic and will only leave you even more severely dehydrated! If you're looking for a quicker cure, try drinking salty water. Working in the bar & restaurant industry, my crew and I have taken to drinking seltzer soda with lime juice in a large glass with a salted rim. Swear to fucking god, it's about the best remedy I've found in a decade of drunken shenanigans.

I have found that if I begin drinking water once I have begun getting an alcohol buzz, I can prevent the worst of the hangover symptoms. What I do is, once I'm buzzing, yet still want to drink, I begin alternating alcohol & water (until I reach that certain point where I know I need to drink only water). This way I can get as drunk as I want, and wake up the next morning with nothing worse than a slightly queezy, bubbly stomach. Of course, I sometimes need to vomit while drinking, but I'd rather vomit a little bit while drunk than to vomit a lot in the morning.

my preferred hangover remedy is as follows, 2 beers, eggs and shredded hashbrows with bacon, chopped tomato's and hollandaise sauce, water through out the day. however avoidance is better than antidote. the best meal ive found for preventing the effects of drinking is striploin steak with procusstio wrapped asparagus, then dancing whilst intoxicated and finished with 2 bottles of water.

I'm a little confused when it comes to darker colored liquors (not the wine). The oaking process is what adds congeners? All liquor is distilled, and comes out clear. My understanding was that the color is from either aging in oak barrels, or some other form of coloring.

i don't really get hangovers beyond a few very minor symptoms (never really understood why- i'll drink till i literally pass out and wake up feeling fine), but in my experience water is HUGE. you need to re-hydrate yourself. beyond that, i tend to crave some real greasy, crappy food. there is a whole in the wall mexican joint near my house i tend to swing by in the morning. in my experience, i tend to feel waaay more awake and together afterwards.

When you talk about the anti-vasopressin effect of alcohol, do you happen to know the exact amount of water lost per ml of alcohol? When you said that 250 ml yields about 600-1000 ml, I figure that the 250 ml you are referring to is a bottle of beer; which is about 2-6% ABV.

Cure is not to get hang over in the first place. 2 ways to do this best don't drink in excess. 2nd take a vitamin b tablet or source and drink sweet drink such as cordial before going to bed not coke it is a diuretic. It has guaranteed me not having ever had a head ache or hangover symptoms in the morning. I am not a heavy drinker but I do tend to binge drink a couple of times a year. I am 6'3'' and weight about 190lb's(85kg) my binges usually are about15-40 standard drinks. solution 2 brocca tablets and 1 litre of sweet cordial (which i hate) worst I have been in the morning is thirsty.

Whisky, when it's produced, is clear. This product is called moonshine or poitin. It's the barrel aging that makes it take its darker colour, pulling the colour from the wood. It wouldn't make sense therefore that it contain more congers if it's as clear as vodka.

Lucky me, alcoholism runs heavily on both sides of my family so other than a headache, which I have daily anyway, I have never experienced a full blown 'hangover'. For my less fortunate boyfriend on the other hand a sprite, or any clear soda, and whatever food sounds the least nauseating usually does the trick. I also try to remember to force a couple advil and a bottle of water in him before we go to sleep. I've heard Blowfish Tablets are supposed to cure a hangover very quickly but I haven't seen anywhere to buy them except online. Has anyone tried them?

Apple cider vinegar. Take a shot of it. It probably is worse going down then most alcohol but it alkalizes your body and will help alot with stomach issues of a hangover. Then it's just as much room temp. Water as you can possible get down at that point.

Not the healthiest thing in the world, but I take a 4 pronged approach. 1. For hydration- I start with coconut water to restore my electrolyte imbalance. Then switch to water. 2. For headache- I take 2 excedrin migraine and 2 ibuprofens 3. For stomach issues- since your esophageal sphincter does not close properly, your body produces that acid, so I try to eat clean to prevent additional acid, and take antacids. 4. Nausea- if I am nauseous, I take Dramamine

My question is this : what if you drink water while drinking at a party ? Let's say that after each couple of glasses you drink some water, I am sure that this would prevent your hangover, no doubt about it. Now will the water that you drink make you less drunk (i.e with the joyful / high / inhibited state of mind, which is kind of the reason that makes you drink) ? I personally don't mind drinking water while drinking alcohol at parties if I can feel the sought good effets of alcohol while avoiding the hangover. I would appreciate some answers about it. Thanks in advance !

Just want to preface this video by saying that the proposed mechanism in this video is just the leading hypothesis, nobody really know how hangovers arise. We know for a fact this mechanism is not entirely correct, because it fails to explain many aspects of hangovers, but all factors mentioned will play a role. (it's complicated)

The best thing for a hangover is a couple of aspirin soon after your last drink and drink a couple of bottle waters slowly.........But it still dependens on how much alcohol you drank that night.....and another method I use is closely monitoring the time between drinks.....2oz per every 45 minutes is my threshold. ...And I always chase my liquor with orange juice or water.

A board certified anaesthesiologist told me that the best way to cure or diminish a hangover is to take action ahead of time: before going to sleep but after drinking take 800mg (I'm a big guy so adjust for body weight) with food and water/Gatorade to replenish electrolytes. If it doesn't cure a hangover it will at least make it a whole lot more bearable.

My rule of thumb is to stay overly hydrated while drinking (you can start hydrating long before you start drinking, which really helps too). If I do succumb to a hangover, I drink lots of water, greasy food and use Advil or another anti-inflammatory for the headache. Gravol for the nausea if it's that bad. I believe the greasy foods work because I'm sure your sodium has been depleted with all the over-diuresis (urinating) and I'm also sure your body needs carbs as a quick energy source to process the alcohol. However, you're liver does have to process all that extra fat from the food, which is probably not good as it's hurting already. I use anti-inflammatory meds over Tylenol because Tylenol is metabolized in the liver - anti-inflammatory meds are metabolized by the kidneys. Just giving the 'ol liver as much of a break as I can.

Keeping myself hydrated has helped prevent hangovers. I've never had hangovers when I keep myself hydrated. Tip: make sure you have enough water before u get drunk :P

Kind of shitty of them to leave out the most effective way to prevent hangovers. Are you ready for this shit, it's some got some pretty intense science behind it, so try and keep up: Drink more water than you do alcohol while you are drinking. Boom, bam, dehydration annihilated, hang over decimated, awkward call to your boss obliterated. There is also stock in eating greasy food before you drink to give your body more time to process the alcohol(some even go as far as to straight up take a teaspoon of olive oil). Also your body burns through B-vitamins, especially B1(thiamin), when you drink alcohol, so taking some B vitamins before can help with the sluggishness next morning. Like he said, prevention is way easier than curing. He just left out the more realistic options, because your not going to stop drinking, amiright?.

Simply water the best cure or anything for that matter, that will replenish your body fluids more rapidly such as electrolytes or water with a bit of salt to do the same. And you don't want to mix in another alcoholic beverage as you will only prolong the inevitable. P.S do not drink beer with other alcoholic beverages as the carbonation effect achieved with beer, will increase the severity for the next day. :)

I don’t feel bad, sick or headaches of hangovers like others. Instead i get a high feeling, like all my senses are numb, and i get slightly paranoid. Ambient noises are intense but distant and i hear high-pitched details very clear like they are inside my head. I have hard to not chuckle about things and tend to think stuff is funny. I don’t know if other people get this bc when i meet the friends i was out with the day before they have the regular symtomes like headaches, are tired and think i’m just trying to annoy them. I usually lots of stronger liquids like whisky or vodka but don’t get totally wasted. I’m 18 which is legal age here in Sweden so maybe it will get better/worse with age but is there anyone else that feel this way?

My best cure is the hair of the dog. Have another couple beers until I'm sufficiently numbed up. Then it's safe to begin drinking water, and eating (without the fear of vomiting). Energy drinks like Monster Rehab usually help. Also, though this may sound strange and counter intuitive, extremely spicy foods actually calm my stomach and help me get going.

Before drinking heavily, leave a bottle of gatorade on your pillow and drink it before going to bed. Stay hydrated while you drink and maybe ingest a teaspoon or two of salt, that'll keep you from urinating as much, though it's not very healthy.

I have never found anything better for a hangover than Gatorade. It is magical for hangovers that don't involve a lot of throwing up. If you are throwing up, I advise not drinking Gatorade as it is unbelievably disgusting on the rebound.
