I don't know how I feel about this new mechanic, It feels to me that just having a big chunk of silk after you die and lose all your money is less rewarding and interesting than having to fight to get your money back.

If it helps, there is an item called “rosary strings” that you can buy and also find, which lets you keep a certain amount of money when Hornet dies.

I feel like the cocoon will become relevant in new ways. Maybe it will be as tech, maybe as lore. Maybe it’ll have properties the demo didn’t show us.

I never understood why people think Hornet is void when there is literally a dialogue with her after getting the shade cloak where she says something like "You're lucky to be born from the void, even if we have things in common, unlike you, I don't come from here", not exactly that but likely

Actually the two quote outside the vault are: "to accept that void inside yourself, that casts you as something rather exceptional." and "I won't be joining you in this. That space is built to sustain your likes. Its bindings would drain me were I to join." There is also this quote after getting the shade cloak: "Ghost. I see you've faced the place of your birth, and now drape yourself in the substance of its shadow. Though our strength is born of similar source, that part of you, that crucial emptiness, I do not share. Funny then, that such darkness gives me hope. Within it, I see the chance of change."

I think one of the confusing lines is the one stating that the Knight is born of two voids. I don't think it was ever really confirmed what the other void is.

I like how some people still think Hornet is part void when she's clearly a child between the Dreamer and PK. You know, the child that allowed the PK to even *go through* with his plan of the vessels made of void.

I do like the idea that when you get back to where you were you have that small advantage to help push your further or just enter the difficult fight as prepared as you can be. And I'm assuming that with the way Rosary strings work and how your unstrung ones are constantly at risk that they will be plentiful enough to not harshly punish player for dying often.

I feel like this could be used in bosses to first die purposely, and then have a little refill for the actual try.

Having a still cocoon instead of a moving shade might be an attempt to inhibit a shade-skip equivalent

Personally I like the idea of this. Dying in a boss fight could actually make the shade a liability in hollow knight and dying basically forced you to trek back to your shade. Without it you risk permanently losing your money and have to deal with a crippled soul meter which kind of discouraged less experienced players from looking for alternate paths and exploring. Meanwhile the cocoon can actually act as an advantage to help in a tricky part of the game by giving you back a free heal whenever you want it, and if a challenge is too hard you can simply leave it with no penalty. I think the loss of the ability to hold onto your money is a decent price to pay, especially since rosaries can be kept anyway through strings.

You actually do get your money back, but not always. You will need to find a item called a rosary string. It will give your rosaries back when you die. I'm pretty sure it uses up the string when you die however.

Thats the thing i hate lol. Its not permenant and you have to constantly pay money for new ones if you arent decent at the game, i mean hornets controls are completely different from the knights.

@@Jonrocks7 Yeah because she's Hornet no dur but i do wish it was permanent too because i do rage over losing 1500 geo to my shade ( yes i'm that bad ) but i'm glad it's different because it's means i have to "git gud" a lot faster or i'll lose all my money but i'm trash at hollow knight already so not very high hopes for me XD

I suggest watching it. The wait is decreasing. Possibly in the next direct or indie presentation we could very well see it!

the best way NOT to see the cacoon that often is by observing the enemy before going in for a strike and once fimiliar with the pattern go into the rythm and strike when an oppening presents itself, to then go back into observe mode when a phase change occurs

It more because they can't. The shade thing work with ghost, who is made of void, but hornet isn't, so they have to change that.
