    Thanks for your input @fufermanxyz. Were you wanting more feedback as far as how the bike rides, or what repair issues to look out for? Maybe we can do a Part 2 that covers anything you think we missed. If you're looking for bike specs, you'll more likely find that in a "First Impressions" type video...which there are a plethera of on KZread. If you have any specific questions, let us know! We're very active in the community and would be happy to help.

    Thanks for the fun review. There’s a place for a middle-weight ADV bike. When planning the MABDR I had the choice between a bike that’s too big (R1200GS) and one that’s too small (WR250R). Something in the 400-800 cc range would have been just right. Thanks again.

  • @MotoPhotoAdventures

    @MotoPhotoAdventures

    I have the Continental TKC80 up front. Best tire I've ever found for the front on this bike!!! It's awesome off-road, and actually sticks really well on pavement too. No problem with fender. I don't like this tire for the rear, however, because it wears out so fast. I'm using the Shinko 805 in the rear. It's cheaper, almost as good as the TKC80, and lasts longer.

  • @lorilgray

    @lorilgray

  • @MotoPhotoAdventures

    @MotoPhotoAdventures

    11 ай бұрын

    @@lorilgray that is correct! Not many tires come in the 160 size. The difference between the 150 or 170 is minimal. Both fit perfectly fine. I used to order the 170 because I liked the "look" of the fat tire! But Jenny Morgan taught me that the 150 is actually a better choice. So I switched to that size and am glad I did. It's still a nice beefy looking tire! But it makes the bike "feel" lighter and livelier, both in acceleration and in the twisties. Plus when you're offroad, it allows the bike to dig down through the sand so it can "grab" better on the solid earth beneath. So these days I always recommend the 150/70-17: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shinko-804-805-big-block-adventure-touring-tires?gclid=CjwKCAjw3dCnBhBCEiwAVvLcu74ifoHCpyP5Ng-PP5hZ9Oe_6gVxiW-B82Ik5vcHr0LT73z96yFwuRoCgdsQAvD_BwE&sku_id=1779941. By the way, I've got a brand new 17" Continental TKC80 front tire if your bike is a 2013-2018. I ordered it a few months ago when I heard there was a shortage. Then I sold my CB500X. So it's sitting in my closet if you want to make me a reasonable offer. Most places are still out of stock on this tire!!!

    Haha...you are absolutely right, my friend. We do accumulate a lot of "baggage" on our bikes. I think most of that is a result of the long trips we take...often in very remote areas or foreign countries where we're not sure what to expect or where we'll find things we might need. Going for a 3-day ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway is different from taking 30 days to cross the country on remote dirt roads and over high mountain passes. Plus we have the added burden of carrying all the electronics to record these adventures. Yes, this is a self-inflicted "burden". However, being able to record our adventures by packing my Nikon Z9, a drone, and several GoPros (plus all the accompanying chargers, lenses, and accessories), is something we enjoy. So it's our burden to carry which most do not need. And yes, many motorcycle travelers choose to sleep in hotels. But we enjoy camping, cooking over the fire, and boiling a cup of tea. So that all requires more gear still. Whether you ride with a more minimalistic approach, or with a more self-sufficient approach like ours, there is certainly is no right or wrong way to travel. As long as you're having fun on your motorcycle, and enjoying your adventure...we say go for it!!!

I am looking forward to taking my mini 2 drone along in my tank bag, but other than that I am just doing day rides so I don't have the need for all of the gear or the cameras.
