Okay, hypothetical case, becsause I'm writing a book with themes of child abuse in it: a seventeen year old girl, has the side of her face smashed in by her father--broken jaw, broken orbital bones, horrible concussion--and her twin brother gets himself concussed by the dad, too, when trying to defend her. Their younger sister goes off to the nearest CPS agent, tells her everything that happened. Since that is OBVIOUS abuse, and the twins and both their younger sister and brother are in physical danger if they stay in the house with their dad, what happens?
