I’m familiar to this. So basically if you unplug it there’s a good chance it’ll go into safe mode. Safe mode has multiple options the best is rebuild database and the next would be to initialise it which will delete everything but uploaded and purchased items (they won’t appear on home screen you’ll have to download the from the library. And to get saved data online just go to setting and data management or something and it will say download online data do that and if you didn’t upload everything you won’t get everything you’ll online get things in your online storage

Bruh this is what i got because my ps4 got freeze

I had a power cut when my ps4 was in rest mode and it kept cutting out. Then it came up with the normal playstation sign and 'the ps4 was not turned off correctly.'

Dont worry when I got my og ps4 i didnt know how to turn it off properly so i turned it off by taking cable out while in game or in update or in rest mode

One time my power went out while i was playing minecraft and its not just from ur last save, the entire world got corrupted and i lost everything. Also if u have a extended storage drive, or anything that stores data outside the playstation, it might get corrupted completely and you’ll lose everything in the extended storage unit.

Bruh my mom used to just walk in my room when I would stay up and just unplug the AC cord with the ps4 still on till one day it messed up and didn’t want to turn on so I was sad but the good part of this is that my dad bought me a new one a month later

Sadly, I had to do this twice in the span of like 5 minutes because the ps4 wouldn't turn off. Literally sat there for 15 minutes and finally just pulled the plug. Luckily it still works

I unplug the ac power cord ones because when i want to check my storage it was i cant move the thing so i did it

So I turned my PS4 off accidentally. If I had known not to, I wouldn't have. Anyway, I plugged it in, and several hours later went to play and that same thing popped up on my screen. Figured it's be ok still, played a game and now, it shut off midgame and it's acting weird. I've only had this PS4 for a week and bought it brand new. Would it still be ok or is something messed up?

Sometimes when my game freeze i tried to turn it off The regular way and it wont turn off so i unplug the power cord idk if thats the right way to turn it off when youre game s freezes or what

hey there i have a question , mine did take damage from it and is not working now . i tried total reset and update via usb . do you think its my hdd thats damaged or the graphical or proccesor parts ?

Mine is all messed up now because we had two power outages, I don’t know how to fix it but I tried rebuild database and it’s still screwed up so at this point if I want it back like brand new I’ll probably have to initialize it and lose all of my progress and saves on every single game I have, which I’m not sure I’m willing to risk that

I already knew about this. Same thing happens when you unplug it while it is on like a game or something, and if you unplug it again while in safe mode, you will go into the black screen of death, which means you basically have a reset and all your stuff goes away unless you delete it and re get your account on your ps4 which takes time and a long precess

for me its different i had a quick black out for a second and just got a message when i turned it on it shows checking data then it was showing on the screen saying ps4 was not unplug right after going to the menu I turned it off again the right way unplug both hmdi and plug wait for a minute then plug both back on it turned it on and the message did not show up again then i tested it by putting a game disc let it run for a while and so far it worked fine like nothing had happened phew....this was the first time it happened to me no save data i have was not corrupted

My PS4 doesn't enter rest mode (forever blinking orange) 98% of the time after the overwatch 2.92 patch. So I just hold the power button for 15 seconds to force shutdown and this happens, nothing is damaged every time (: I've read updated the software and rebuilt database to no avail

yo man I've unplugged by accident while shutting off and it doesn't work, I've tried to restore system defaults, as well as initialising, even rebuilding system soft. and still it's saying I should reinstall and loose all my data.. is it possible to copy games from the original hard disk so that I can just copy them from hard disk to hard disk rather than having to download 1.3 T of data ?

My apartment buildings power goes out every night so I wake up to that message that it wasn't turned off properly everyday

@@UncleKazzto unless your using the wrong cord and it's shorting your ps4 probably not its probably the PSU over heating or is just broken

I’ve had to buy 2 new ones from power outages sometimes it scrambles the data and corrupts it (you can buy a new hard drive instead which I found out after getting my second one) but yea if it happens enough times it can break it I’ve noticed it breaks a lot easier on the PS4 slim

@@kidwithfriend7360 im no expert but according to ..... overheating crashing freezing missing and corrupted data are symptoms of a failing hard drive,if you get missing textures ingame menu items ect i think its probably hd . new hdd here on mon so let ye know if that fixes it

I’ve done it for years on mine and now it messes up a lot cause the power went off during an update. So really your fine if it’s not during an update

@@ekeshow your ps4 should be completely fine. I've had my power go out and accidentally unplug the ps4 many times and still is fine. Your ps4 will just turn restart when turned off. Theres a small chance of corrupted data.

I did this cause my ps4 was stuck on the going to rest mode it was on that for 20 mins glad I found your channel

That happens to me a lot when my internet just randomly decides to crash. The system software just gives up on me and when I try to restart my internet it freezes and I can't turn it off I just says putting the PS4 into rest mode... and I stays like this from a few minutes but nothing happens and the only option is to unplug it from AC power cord

There is like a 5% chance if you turn off power or unplug it for a part of the cord (you can just buy a new one [not a part of the ps4)] the be completely broken if you just turn it off most likely nothing will happen but sometimes some corrupted data

Today, I was playing some games and then a power outage happened and now my PS4’s not turning on even after the outage..

I’ve done it so manny times from rage quitting and not it broken. I can play for like 10-15 min and it turns off

What would you expect? You would get unlimited ps+? It would take a lot of unplugging your ps4 to see some serious problems or damage Uplugging it for curiousity is really stupid and it might cause the console to not turn on or sumting like that and is not advisable

U could try this out. Unplug the extended storage device when it says “repairing... Do not disconnect the extended storage device.” I know u will probably have a high chance of corrupting all your saved data, but it’s still worth a shot.

Mine has never had an improper shutdown but it did triple beep going into rest mode once. I made the mistake of not disabling auto-upload when getting PS plus. One day, psn was down and when I put it into rest mode, it took a long time and then triple beeped before it finally went to sleep. When I woke it back up later, I didn't get any errors or warnings. I later found out that it triple beeped because it was unable to upload my latest saves to the cloud because psn was down. Does anybody know if this could cause any corruption?

So my PS4 was freezing on the home screen and I hit turn off and it froze and I was forced to unplug it, but now I’m having trouble with turning it on and off, when I hit the turn on button i have to press it twice now. And when I put it in rest mode it says I didn’t turn it off properly when I turn it back on. It there a solution to this? I really need help here

You never unplug a system, whether that be a pc, Xbox, or ps4.. NEVER do that it WILL damage your console at a certain degree, it could be file loss, corrupt data, or loss of ALL data, in bad cases it will break the system and it won’t be able to start up at all and it’ll require money or someone who knows tech to fix

@@aviatron01 There is a ps site with the files for the update and there are 2 files the one for an update and the bigger file for reset update you want to get the bigger file. You need to go to safe mode and then put the usb and choose the right options. For details just search for videos ps4 stuck in safe mode loop and how to fix it and dont give up! I was searching for hours with no Idea what to do try everything videos tell you to do. I hope i helped

This happened to me too. I was on Red Dead Redemption 2 and a power surge happened. Luckily I wasn’t playing any missions, it was just paused while I was looking up something online. It gave this same message as if it was scolding and accusing me of deliberately unplugging the ps4 I was like “I did not turn or unplug you off! It was a power surge! Luckily no data seemed to be affected.

I wouldn't worry about it; I've done this tens of times because my PS4 power cable is often loose or gets jostled out of place- It's just annoying

I've unplugged it before, however, it seems like its the same thing even if your not suppose to.

i'm just really skeptical because my game crashed and was stuck loading on 'Please wait...' so i decided to restart it and it's now stuck on that screen and i can't do anything other than unplugging it

I am sending in my ps4 pro for repair and I am terrified that they will tell me they will refuse to repair it because this has happened to my ps4 (the power went out a few times to cause this and once I had to unplug it because visuals were not showing at all). I am worried they will claim user damage caused it and refuse to repair it even though I'm within the 1 year warranty. I'm stressing out about this big time.

Joshua Manjania you either have a back cord or it’s the AC input port, which u can replace by opening ur ps4 and finding the power supply and taking out the port and putting a new one in

I do this a lot, I do it when that glitch happens were you go to put it in rest mode but it stays there and does nothing I unplug it. I know that your not supposed to that but I haven't had huge problems.

this happened just now i had a quick black out for a second and just got a message on the not unplug it propererly afterwards I turned it off again the right way unplug both hmdi and plug wait for a minute then plug both back on it turned on the message did not show up again then i tested it by putting a game disc let it run for a while and so far it worked fine like nothing had happened phew....this was the first time it happened

@@Ayumuobsessed You should be completely fine dont worry about it. It wont break ur ps4 it could cause some problems when saving data or updating the system but other than that its ok

i,ve done this thousands of times over the past 3 years and my ps4 never messed up and still works perfectly like brand new so I don,t know if I believe in this being able to break your ps4.

I do it all the time whenever I have it on sleep mode Does it have any consequences if I do unplug it on sleep mode or I'm good Or is it not working is just a myth to scare us

so i did this when a game froze ps4 wouldnt do anything so unplugged,since then ive been getting errors corrupt data games half loading textures crashing random shut offs clicking noises blod ive hard reset the console 5 times now done everything there is to be done,i assumed its the hdd so i ordered an upgrade,ive been playing for a few days with problems waiting for new hdd now its just dead it wont read any games says i dont have plus when i do cant even access ps store

Is there a way to fix it because everyone thought it was just ok to unplug my ps4 and now it’s saying I need some sort of usb

I used it while it’s was a lightning storm and the lan cable slot ain’t working

That's exactly what's happening to my Playstation 4 right now but the thing is the controller is not connected we had to buy a new controller and we try to connect it and when we turned on the PlayStation it said that and since the controller is not connecting it won't press any of the buttons like if I press the PS button it will not do anything because the controller is not connected can you help me solve that problem

My og PS4 says it needed restarting but now it stays on a black screen with the PS4 white flashing light and it’s not coming on ?

I unplugged my ps4 when it was flashing and said do not to then I turned it back on it light up and beeps but won’t appear on my tv so what do I do?

*Warning* DONT do this alote of times. I did it several times by mistake and in purpose. One day the ps4 read error couldnt read harddrive. I tried taking out cleaning and etc. So then i changed to a 1t seagate harddrive and ps4 is stuck in safe mode. I tried all the options except the usb option. No luck yet i might have to take to a pro to see what they say.

@@nobap5354 Either a power cable issue of even worse a power supply fault. Try different cables and make sure the cable is seated firmly. If that doesn't work, your power supply is probably gone.

@@yameteonichaann7189 Nothing will likely be damaged if the hard drive was not in use during rest mode. However, turning off a hard drive whilst it's running could corrupt files and possibly make the system boot into safe mode.

Funny story so when I bought this ps4 I would power off the ps4 and then before the white light turns off I unplug it I did this Avery single time to turn of my ps4 I thought it was the correct way to turn it off but it was not and my ps4 was still og fine like literly and I did this Avery single day back in 2018 now in 2020 March 6 when I find out that the way i turn off my ps4 is wrong I was cared and then I learned how to turn it off correctly and then it was fine but I was still scared that all pass these 2years I have been not turning it off correctly and my ps4 was still fine I had a ps4 pro btw reply today this comment and then tell me your story of your cool ps4 please like this comment it took me 10 minutes to write.

Fire Monkey i am late but there are 2 methods #1 instalize ps4 but this will delete all of your games and data so far but will most probably work and #2 rebuild database because this one is usually used to stop lagging but it may fix as well and if you want to know how this works its very simple you turn off your ps4 hold on power button until it beeps twice and connect controller via wire but first i would recommend rebuilding database wich won’t remove anything from your ps4

What if i'am in safe mode and controller doesent work (ik why it doesent work but i dont that kind of cable) what im gonna do???? Unplug in safe mode?? Or wait tull morning??

I'm happy for you, but my playstation got turned off last night and now today it's fucked, won't restart, won't download anything, I have to clear the whole thing and even that won't work. It's currently in a box on the way back to Amazon, luckily I just purchased it about a week ago.

@@jeffery4871 yes I did. Luckily this all happened just a week or two before Black Friday, so I ended up getting a way better deal with free games!

It happened accidentally the power plug wasn't connected properly so I pushed it and it turned off . Hope nothing bad happens. I turned on the ps4 there was no problem but I am kinda scared rn if it like corrupts the system or the motherboard gets fried . Please let me know if anything will happen .

Please reply* Does this affects the game performance?? I mean it has happened to me many times but i havent noticed any major changes in games except sometime the fps drops to 20 for like 1 or 2 sec

Don't know about performance but it can corrupt game data sometimes

No it does not, but it can corrupt game data. Corrupted game data can result in game performance getting changed, But if you don't have very obvious symptoms of game corruption such as many glitches, errors, crashes and game texture getting altered Than idk
