Depends on the server edition, each user OR device using the server needs to be licensed (web hosting does not require additional licensing). Unfortunately Windows Server is the only (viable, scalable, and reliable) way to manage dozens, or hundreds of windows boxes on a network (Active Directory, WSUS, BranchCache, and of course Group Policy)

Vintela is used as a shim for the Unix estate.

We still have a literal handful but all of those are on death row and will be uplifted by the end of this year. We still had a single, solitary, one-off Windows 2000 box running as late as 2017 but it's gone now. We still have a decent number of 2012 R2 boxes (base 2012 is banned) that are allowed to stay _for now_, but the acceptable minimum at our place is 2016. That makes up the bulk of our estate and we have about a 70-30 split between 2019 and 2022 as well.

I don't get on the internet with it because no browser will install on it any more. I use a different Win10 computer for accessing the internet. I got the server free over 10 years ago before we had 8 TB drives. Today it probably wouldn't make sense to set it up as I have but it's still working so why change it, although other newly available options would certainly use less power.

Pretty idiotic you didn’t try hosting a GeoCities esque page on the server onto the public web so you may test your audience towards running each and every unpatched vulnerability exploit through some sort of announcement post as to spread the word. Server ‘03 on the surface is no different than XP, the real technicality is the feature set besides ofc licensing; in other words, we’ve seen this already.
