    I'm going to Argentina in May/June. I'm not worried. I'll book local hotels and flights from my home country, no sweat. I might take a little hit wit local ATM's, but i don't expect anything out of the ordinary. As long as cash is still accepted on the street. Food for thought bro. ty 4 vid.

    Even on the same day that I recored this video the exchange rates changed again. The dollar blue is now lower than the MEP rate which Argentine companies use to buy USD. The situation changes minute-by-minute. But the idea of this video stays the same: make your calculations.

    I would think the complication would put off a lot of tourists also! If Argentina wanted to bring in value from foreigners then it should do away with the headache! How long until it abolishes the peso?

    Right now official rate is 850, MEP and Blue both around 1100, and toruist rate 1300. So that would mean paying everything with foreign credit card is advantageous?

    is there now a difference between Debit and Credit Card. I thought that before, you only get the refund on the exchange rate on a Credit Card, and not on a Debit Card.

    Apparently some debit cards do offer the refund but my test and comment of other tourists are showing that debit cards often have problems with the refund. To be sure, I prefer to use a credit card.

    So, in summary, use your credit card for all purchases of goods and services while in the country. For your hotel - if you can pre-pay in dollars online, then do so with your credit card before your trip. Is that correct?

  • @SecretsofBuenosAires

    @SecretsofBuenosAires

    It's important to make the calculation. It can be that the hotel has a cheaper price in ARS. But make your calculations how much it would cost in USD/EUR/... against the ARS. Many hotels are changing their rates due to the changing situation.

    Can be. But that the website from AFIP mentions differently: La normativa exige dos requisitos básicos: · Que el servicio de alojamiento sea prestado a un turista del extranjero; y · Que el pago por ese servicio se realice con tarjeta de débito o crédito emitida en el exterior o transferencia bancaria con origen en el exterior.
