I remember the truly democratic KZread. It was the best thing ever! No one was making a cent uploading & sharing. No trolls. A big community that felt very personal. VEVO (the music companies) ruined it all. Then everyone else who owned anything jumped on board as well. It was fun while it lasted. It's still #1 by a long chalk, but you can feel the walls closing in. Thanks for the upload. Seeing those early clips helped me remember how all of the good times were gradually vaporized. YT fought long and hard to keep the wolves at bay.

Other artist like Linkin Park & Souljah Boy channel have been uploading content & music video before the bullshit VEVO came in. Other music video were just been stolen and reupload. So then came Vevo who wanna be a hero for most artist and all artist that just established their YT channel started to upload theirs in 2009

Really fascinating to watch. Makes you think what would have happened to KZread's growth if vevo did decide on having the music videos exclusive to their platform (esp when considering the majority of the most viewed content on YT are the vevo music videos)

True I wonder how many people would have jumped over for just music video content if they are already paying for a music streaming service probably not many.

Google actually does own a small percentage of Vevo, so they're likely not even taking a huge cut.

You didn’t need to insert the origin of audio and video recording. I know you wanted to extend the run time and yes it’s an interesting fact, but that had nothing to do with the question that you asked in the title.

I feel like it died wants music artist started making their own channels.

Just got tormented by a VEVO video after years when looking up an old song. Thank you for this reminder and some information I didnt know

forget the music side of things, but Vevo used to have amazing short film content, beutiful short movies...KZread feeds me trash via algorithm like Google nowadays..so basically useless...I miss Vevo
