What Happened to Roy Hibbert’s NBA Career? From All Star to Out of NBA

Спорт

What happened to Roy Hibbert’s NBA Career? From All Star to Out of NBA. Talking about the nba basketball story of Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert probably had the one of the quickest declines from NBA all star status I have ever seen in my time watching the NBA. At his peak, his use of verticality bothered LeBron James and other NBA teams.

Hibbert was a victim of small ball evolution. Even small ball is starting to fade in favor of hybrid basketball where a big guy can dribble up the court like Simmons and Giannis.

I wouldn't call it hybrid. It's positionless now. It's all defined roles instead of positions. The evolution of the game has destroyed his career though. He wasn't quick or agile enough to defend the pick and roll and he got decimated by faster players easily after the verticality law was enforced.

\/ibestr disagree hibbert during his good years was exactly what you want in your center DURING small ball . A center that doesn’t demand the ball on offense sets good screens and plays great defense .

Hibbert was a relic from the bygone era of dominant centers. Basketball just evolved into something different. The lines between positions became blurred and every player could stretch and play at least 2 positions.

He was never good. He just had the luxury of playing on a good system oriented team that had great players like Paul George and prime David west . I remember Coach Vogel even said all they asked of hibbert to do was go straight and contest shots on defense because he was so tall. Dude wasn't talented at all and he got exposed when he went to LA

Pretty sure he got exposed in the series where he could barely manage 2 points and 1 rebound most games. By the time he went to LA, people already knew he wasn't good.

Hibbert making an all star team was misleading, because they were still picking centers, where there were not that many. Career highs of 12 and 8 is not all star calibre, so a decent drop off in a game that is getting called more and more soft, to advocate smaller players shooting 3's, and driving to the rim in open lanes, could easily lead to a player like him not being used anymore.

The 2014 Indy/ATL seris is the moment I realized Vogel was a shitty coach. He refused to bench Hibbert when Indy had a backup that could play D outside of the paint. Nobody is THAT bad of a player unintentionally. Hibbert got his revenge on the Pacers by tanking the series as a big "Fuck You' to PG for beating the brakes off his girl.

Sophomore yr of college I remember....he blocked melo, I'm a Knicks fan if u would have told me Roy would be out the league in 4 yrs....😡😡 he was talking about put that block on his man cave etc...😂😂😂 good trash talk, i thought he would last longer but the 3 point explosion, and pg exploding in his girls guts ended his career/ motivation i guess But I guess he accomplished his goal and made it to the league. If he uses his money wisely, he won. Time flies your prime, could be now. Everybody prime years are different
