Someone should make an actual informative video talking about how this repair grifter never fixed the plane everyone donated money to see fly. In the meantime, Rebuild rescue is selling overpriced t shirts and small glass jars of paint chips from the 401 for fifty bucks a pop

I stumbled across Rebuild Rescue on the 1st episode for the 401 project. The cost, effort, and hurdles to jump through seem overwhelming when watching every episode. I'm no expert on aircraft restorations, but I'm impressed by the commitment Jason and his team have. You can tell they are not cutting any corners on this project.

What people don't understand is that when an aircraft has been abandoned every nut, bolt, cable and engines have to be replace by an A&P(Aircraft & Power Plant Mechanic) and an A&P Inspector has to certify that the work and part are FAA approved. These are parts that have to be certified by the FAA. Every thing has to be document and recorded. Some aircraft have 20 or more folders of paper work of every thing that has been done on it from when the aircraft came off the assembly line.

I see you don't know much about airplanes . . .

Imagine taking it slow with an old airplane that has set outside for 10+ years. If you watched a few episode's you know there's always something unexpected. Cant take any risks!

I do wish he would set 100% of his efforts on the 401 instead of finding other planes to rescue it annoys me because Im not invested in the other planes the way I have been with the 401.

Toxic clickbait, and an AI voice? Sounds like this video is the controversy, not rebuild rescue. The doubters are also the ones not watching weekly updates and think a plane like this can be fixed in a few months.

I think he is legit and restoring a airplane that was in as bad a condition as the 401 is not an easy task and yes it needed a complete restore because of cracks and stress in the air frame. They are very Strict when it comes to air planes it is not like restoring a car or truck. They have been pretty up front with problems found and what they needed do to solve the problems. There is always a possibility of scams now days, but I do not think it is one of them. Time will tell the whole story:P

@@skyboy1956 Completely new wings, which are already installed, as well as the new FAA-required spar. The latter was the primary reason it was abandoned in the first place.

@@krozareq it does NOT have completely new wings. The wings are from a ragged out 402 and probably have more hours in service than the original wings.

If Jason is a married man, somebody is lying because he refers to his fiancé. I have been watching Rebuild Rescue from the day he was offered the 401 if he could get it started. He and his crew have had many successes and setbacks and may have missed a deadline but it sure isn’t due to anything nefarious. I plan to continue following until the day the 401 takes to the sky.

Same and at time this was the only plane he was working on now he has project after project in that hangar he is milking that plane for cash flow from his viewers he messed up asking for that go fund me that money showed up then the tesla and all these other projects after

It was a rescue that became a rebuild. It ran, it moved, it did plane stuff, but it was knackard. Just after it was polished it became obvious that it needed a full rebuild and it ain’t a car :o)

I enjoy rescue rebuild, The channel sheds a positive light on being an a mechanic and a aviation enthusiast.

I had no idea there was a controversy lol. I've been watching the rebuild since it started... They got the engines on and all the parts back on. Outside company is doing the interior... Just need wiring and a paint job. What's the deal? The restoration is a big part of the channel, why rush it?

I have watched and enjoyed every episode concerning the re rebuild of the Cessna 401. Nothing fake or Foney about it. Jason made a video explaining about why the 401 would not be ready by July of 2023 in time for Oskkosh WI air show. Any thought of Jason " cooking the books" in regard to the funds to restore the 401 is laughable!!!

People who think this is a scam and taking long I want you to try and rebuild a plane that was sitting for 20 years if anything he has been making crazy progress and I knew his July 2023 deadline would never happen.

Anyone who complains an airplane restoration takes too long really doesn't know the costs, parts availability, and time involved in doing it right. I want the 401 to be finished too but safety is paramount too. Gotta do it right, and by the regs. Oh and you left out the Mr Dent he owns as well as real estate etc.

It literally takes years to take an abandoned airplane that has been abandoned on a runway and return it to flying condition. The CAF has been doing that for decades now, and many of their projects take a decade or more from start to finish. There was a B-25 that sat on the runway of the Van Nuys Airport for 2 decades, with multiple attempts to restore it to flight condition until it finally got certified to fly again. The "Heavenly Body" was a local landmark for 2 decades, visible from one of the most traveled roads in the city. And it is now one of two operating B-25 bombers in the world.

You’re wrong about the number of B-25’s flying in the world, there are a lot more than 2, you’re thinking of the B-29s Doc and Fifi.

@@Sean-yr2th Actually, I am not. Notice, I did not say "B-25", but "B-25 bomber". Most of the surviving and flightworthy aircraft are indeed B-25s, but they were not bombers. Most of the survivors were J models, that were used as gun platforms and not actual bombers. And many others are recon or even logistical aircraft. An amazing number of B-25s actually never carried bombs.

You have no idea what you’re talking about it , it takes a lot of time and money, to do a complete restoration of anything, but even more so with aircraft, I know I belong to two aviation museums, I’ve seen and participated in the restoration of aircraft, everything has to be done according to FAA regulations, the old adage of “when the paperwork equals ,or exceeds the weight of the aircraft, then it can fly”

It's a genuine project, for sure.

I love RR , and have since late 2019 , Anyone complaining about the length if the 401 build shall be ignored, The only conspiracy is the plane that was donated to him (actually donated to the rebuild rescue charity before it was fully established)from deceased estate has completely vanished, Ive asked multiple times and get ignored, As for history he was on a tv show i cannot remember, jersy shore like show To finish off , I love RR , but recently a couple videos have been flat out 40mins ads. I miss the old videos, getting a truck thats been sitting for years and making it start again with minimal tools, Its a bit opposite now.

I subscribed to watch them build the 401 and am getting disillusioned by the videos of everything else they are building. Finish the 401 and then move on to other projects.

With the money he had he could have bought a new plane.

The recent loss of the Grumman aircraft, and death of its pilot, brings this whole series into question. I am no expert, but the investigation seems to point to water in the fuel, which was inevitable given the lack of a rubber seal in one of the fuel caps, and the pilot's omission to take a fuel sample before flight. It seems to me this whole KZread format, with $ and time limitations, is not condusive to safety. Cut corners, and disaster will follow.

No, THIS plane didn't crash. The GA-7 Cougar from Marshall, MI crashed after what appears to be an engine failure after takeoff.

I stopped watching the day he levered the tyres off with an auto jimmy bar.

I love Jason's honesty, his commitment, his transparency, he is simply a one of a kind, just the fact that he make progress with the 401, meantime; there is so many other projects going on, we love rebuild rescue and team 👌💞🙌🙌🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

This video is essentially useless tripe. That's 5 minutes of my life wasted.

An airplane that sat abandoned and in the elements for 17 years is going to need a complete tear down to replace all bad components and to fix corrosion issues and that is going to take a lot of time, not to mention, finding parts for a 1969 Cessna 401 is not going to be easy. I'm actually surprised they they have gotten this much done this quickly. This is a big "nothing burger".

Better to have brought a used running aircraft

Ungawa said that Rebuild Rescue got a government contract to help rebuild old aircraft that has to run on solar panels attached to the wings! They also have to be painted Green !!

…and it seems there is the possibility that aviation doesn’t lend itself to “reality TV” style KZread channels with unrealistic time schedules and budgets. It works for Richard Rawlings… not RR. They paid the ultimate price. Have enjoyed the channel. RIP Sam & prayers for your family.
