Being a child of the 80s/90s, and growing up in a small neighborhood, We had a lot of independence and freedom from a pretty young age (young as in 5 or 6). With no parental supervision, we were allowed to walk around or ride our bikes up and down the street and we really didn’t have any limits as to what we could do or where we could go as long as we stayed in our neighborhood. We would tell our parents where we were going initially but It was not uncommon at all for us to start at one friend’s house and end up at totally different place. Thinking about it today, it’s insane to think about how our parents normally had no idea where we were, what we were doing, or who we were with 95% of the time.

The box of Barbie dolls given to her by a little old lady a couple of weeks beforehand, the pretending to run away to her 'new family' and the fact her body has never been found raises the hairs on my arm. I would have been looking into all the women in the area who had suffered the loss of a child in someway, whether through death or separation of some sort. I think it's definitely interesting the things she said to her parents. When you put it all together it definitely does sound suspicious. I know as a mother myself, none of this would be an immediate cause for concern because kids do say these kinds of things. My kids have brought toys, bikes, and coins home that I did not give to them saying someone gave it to them. But if my kids ever went missing I'm sure I'd start overanalyzing every single thing. It could mean something, it could mean absolutely nothing. It's hard not to link every little detail to your missing child I'd imagine.

I think there’s a lot more to the Matthew Curtis lead. I think it’s more than just highly disturbing, but also rather telling that he stated “if I was involved in her disappearance, you would never find her”. That’s not something an innocent person or a person with a sane mind would say. Even if it doesn’t serve as an example of him being involved, it is very telling of what kind of a person he was. The idea of him being ruled out as a suspect because there was no trace of LeeAnna or because his house was in the opposite direction from which LeeAnna was walking, I think, is a bit flawed. For one, even though Matthew lived a few houses down in the opposite direction, he still frequented the neighborhood and knew it well, and easily could have been prowling around the day she disappeared. Similarly, just because his truck wasn’t involved in her disappearance doesn’t necessarily mean Matthew wasn’t involved. I mean if he was looking at cp on his mom’s computer, he also could have been corroborating or corresponding with people nearby with similar interests. He could have been in chat rooms or forums and found other people who he could have formulated a plan with. I mean, that’s the kind of way this stuff often works. Human trafficking occurs because of networks of criminals like this, so who’s to say that Matthew wasn’t a part of one of these networks? I don’t know… I also find it highly suspicious and very telling that he took his own life the day of his court hearing. I wouldn’t be surprised if in time we come to discover he was more involved in this than we know. But at least through this case, the community was able to find out about what Matthew was involved in so it could be brought to light, for the betterment of the community and the safety of everybody’s children.

I’m guessing it was the same situation in Leanne‘s neighborhood. I feel so horrible for the mom.

I have heard from people who lived in Chisholm at that time saying everyone knew Leanna because she was this little girl running around during the day and night, in and out of bars by herself, all around town.. but placing blame on her parents does nothing to help her and I can’t imagine the guilt they felt.

Over *FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND* views and less than twenty thousand likes is absurd. Y’all… when you watch these videos, *like them.* Its a free way to show appreciation to these people who put so much time and effort into making these for us. It helps to push the algorithm. It literally takes less than one second to do it. *Just do it.*

Please, don't allow your young children to walk anywhere alone, no matter how close their friend's house is, or how safe you believe the neighbourhood to be. Always astounds me when I see children as young as five with no parent in sight. Their safety and wellbeing is your responsibility. Don't become a parent or have multiple kids if you can't handle this responsibility. And no Kendall, this has to be said, as a warning to other parents.

Yes THANK YOU its absolutely insane to me how irresponsible parents are who let's a 5 year old walk anywhere alone? Kindergartners literally are scared to go to school for the first time and cry and miss their parents so who would let their 5 year old walk anywhere alone I wouldnt even let my 5 year old play In the front yard alone.. wouldn't even let my 9 year old walk anywhere alone.. absolutely horrible

Yeah I think parents who allow their children to go off alone are just as guilty as the ones who harm the child. They should be jailed also

The effect LeeAnna going missing had on literally EVERYONE on the Iron Range is truly staggering. I always remember seeing her missing posters everywhere I went (I always remember seeing it specifically on a 25 cent candy machine, being she went missing when I was 6, in the Virginia bowling alley, about 15 minutes East, & it stayed on that machine until that bowling alley closed over 10 years later. Just a core memory etched into my brain). Even now in 2024, every time around Father’s Day, in every household, workplace, etc. for miles people will talk about wondering whatever happened to LeeAnna & hoping a miracle happens that she’s found. Especially after her mother passed. You almost can’t find anyone who lives in Hibbing/Chisholm that doesn’t know about this story, even to this day.

I was born in 1990 and walking by yourself as a kid was definitely the norm back then! I grew up in Los Angeles so I can only imagine how much “safer” it was to walk by yourself as a kid back then. I wouldn’t dare let my 9 year old son walk anywhere by himself now days just because times have changed so much but i vividly remember walking to the store with my sister in the late 90s and early 2000s.

At 5? Really? I was born in 1990 aswell. And we did alot of crap but theres no way i was allowed to wander the streets alone at 5. I swear you people say anything to condone foolishness. The only victim in this story is the child, IMO.

@@byunniq9060 “you people?” Hmmm. 🤔 😒My sister and I were allowed to walk by ourselves as KIDS. Never mentioned an age. Maybe you people need to learn to read before commenting. Reading is fundamental boo.
