What happened after TED Prize 2013 | Sugata Mitra | TEDxUFM
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences.
In 2013, Dr. Sugata Mitra earned the first ever one million dollar TED Prize award for his project "School in the Cloud." Two years later, he shares what he did with the prize and the evolution of this innovative project which is changing the life of thousands of children around the world.
Educational researcher Sugata Mitra is the winner of the 2013 TED Prize. In 1999, Mitra and his colleagues dug a hole in a wall bordering an urban slum in New Delhi, installed an Internet-connected PC, and left it there (with a hidden camera filming the area). What they saw was kids from the slum playing around with the computer and, in the process, learning how to use it and how to go online, and then teaching each other.

This is changing how we homeschool. Thank you so very much!
Sugata Mitra's work has really provoked thought and reflection on my part. it motivated me to change from a disseminator of information to more of a coach and cheerleader. As a result, 100% of my IGCSE students passed their math exam last year and 6 of the 10 A-stars in the US were my students. Almost 20% of my students got an A star when only 18% of students in the US passed. And really, it's more about what I've stopped doing in class more than what I've done.
I am so glad Dr Sugata articulated what i have been trying to say for a very long time. I have been telling people that youtube is the future of education, because i personally learnt more on youtube than my two years at a private college (one of my biggest regrets unfortunately) But hopefully the coming generations will not have to make the same mistake. Also, from a personal experience, my 6 year old nephew heard me and my friend talk about pole dancers and asked us what a pole dancer was, we sheepishly told him he did not need to know, to which he replied "Thats ok, i will google it" ;)
Excellent. Much ahead of times and needed today.
The one thing you should take from this talk *_Its not about making learning happen; its about letting it happen._* 📚📖
