Chitan also has her signature ear to ear smile. Captures the heart with that equipment every time!
Juna's English is very good! She had me laughing for about two hours in the British Museum in 2019 when we (Marie Fukui, Juna, Rie Tomimatsu, Kanade Sato and 'Papa' Sato (as Juna called Kanade's dad) and Katsufumi Murakami were exploring the museum. Senri's English is pretty good too.
They are not only great musicians, they are so lovely I want to give them chocolate and flowers! 😍
So much joy, fun, and personality. I’m crazy about the whole band.
Chizu is such a helluva guitarist. She would be perfect in any world-class jazz fusion band. She has the right approach to everything she does and the tones she uses are absolutely perfect and spot on. I would hire her in a second.
Another awesome inside look from Chizuru. Thank you so much! Looking forward to many more. 💓😊👍
Chizuru is a cutie!. I love watching her play because she is so into the music and enjoying it. She smiles so much through her performances
I would love to have to a more detailed rundown of Chizuru's rig and her playing. Perhaps someone who can act as interpreter. She has a style that reminds me of Larry Carlton. She has a smile that reminds me that life is good.
Please come to tour in USA!!
Ladies: Thank You for the english! Most appreciated! As you are, of course!❤❤ You are all amazingly talented, funny, and cute!
Been playing drums since around 1959. Senri is one of my favorites. Their English is fantastic. If I tried to speak Japanese,it would probably come out as “the donkey in my teeth needs a roof”. I love what these young women do and I hope that they keep doing it for quite some time.

Lol!! Your Japanese language skills are already better than the Google translations!!
They all have the same idea when it comes to playing any instrument....HAVE FUN!! I think the idea of don't worry about making mistakes is right on!! Thank you Jazz Avengers for this video!!❤
A good idea for a video, Ask every member to name one music album that was a big influence on them that they think others should listen to.

That's a great idea, and perhaps one that will actually come about. Of course there's the "Senri's Seven" video which is pretty informative in that sense. There's also a written interview with Senri from a few years back that I believe was in an Eastern European country she was visiting. She discusses many of the contemporary drummers often cited as "the world's best." As you might expect, she's very respectful and appreciative towards them all, and she REALLY knows what's going on. I imagine most, if not all of the JA members have plenty to say about influences. You can be sure Miku does! So, yeah, cool suggestion, hope we get to see that.

Good and interesting idea 👍
Never heard them talk much english, but they are secretly so good. Keep it up 👍 love these behind the scenes videos with the band. They are so much fun!! 🤩
I know Senri started playing young, but it looks like she stopped ageing when she started playing! She's what, 26 now? I'd swear she was still 13. Such a baby, but also what a great leader. She's built one of the greatest jazz bands playing in the world today. (It just needs a brass section! I'd volunteer, but I was never that good.)

They are one of the greatest bands right now. I hope they get a chance to do a world tour. There's nothing like them right now.

I often see suggestions that JA should add brass, or add a bari sax. (There IS a bit of bari on “One by One”) Of course, more horns would make them more versatile, (and I love the baritone sound) but I don’t think that is something that will happen, other than perhaps a guest appearance.. What they have now is very unique - I’m not aware of of any other band that uses S-A-A-T on a regular basis - AFAIK soprano sax isn’t often used in ensembles. So I’m guessing that the line-up they use was a very deliberate choice and not just a result of circumstance. (They could have done it differently - they are all superb on alto, Miho also plays soprano, tenor and flute, and Miku plays great soprano and Aerophone. Juna plays sax pretty well, too.) Horn sections with brass is already covered by many excellent bands - EWF, ToP, Memphis Horns to name just three. Or one could check out Senri and Miho in the Tokyo Jazz All-Stars - plenty of brass there, as well as many of the finest musicians in the world. To sum up this long-winded bit of yakking - I dig those horns just the way they are.

@@peterb7923Absolutely. I don‘t think they need a brass section either. Also, occasional brass stabs could be done by Marie with adequate samples.

I agree with adding brass, plus a great Hammond. / Leslie sound.
"English Challenge" was SO much fun, and very helpful to those of us who haven't learned Japanese very well. But the sense of fun and spirit is just as evident when they're speaking Japanese, or playing their incredible music. For me, the best part came from Marie (who spoke almost nothing in English) - "Don't worry about making mistakes." It's been said many times before, but probably not enough times. There is a very famous quote by Charlie Parker about how to become a great musician. I doubt if The Jazz Avengers would use his choice of words, but in my opinion, they are one of the very best examples of that philosophy.
Great English skills on display. I’m impressed! It’s wonderful how this band has gelled so swiftly. Also Senri Kawaguchi is incredible!
Very well done and very interesting. Nice to see what happens behind the scenes. And of course the friendly relationships you seem to have with each other is also good to see.😎
Wowwwww...Senri can speak English. I am surprised and impressed. Keep it up. Awesome! 😊
Credit to all the team in preparing for "global invasion" by practicing their English. Juna has performed in US and has been working on singing in English's for some of her other commitments. I have followed her for a few years and this is the first time I hear her with conversational English and I was super impressed! Team, please keep up the good work. 😎
I love you ladies 😊!!!❤!!! You sound awesome 👌!! You have amazing sense and appreciation of smooth jazz!!! All of you are very talented 😊!! Please let me know when you are in Los Angeles!!!😊!!!
So wholesome and wonderful and Chizuru is just adorable and a great guitarist. Also always wondered if her guitar is worn out by herself or if is delivered with some weathering similar to jeans that is washed and torn a little.. The band in general has very good players like Juna, Senri and WaKaNa...

The tenor sax player, Miku, is my favorite. She is so small, yet climbs the walls with that tenor. Senri is next. Even smaller than Miku, but such stick technique, and she is so relaxed even though she is just tearing it up. But every person in the band is extraordinary. I am glad they are so nice to each other as well. That seems to be a Japanese trait. Come see us in America soon!
This was so cute! I like to see the cool gear they are using! Chizuru has a Bogner, and a couple of Strymon pedals. Very nice! Senri's drum kit looks expensive, she is so worth it! Those Yamaha keyboards are nice too! All these women deserve the best gear to play on! Good advice from them: "just buy and play!" 🥰
You girls are the best! I've been following you from the beginning and as a jazz/funk/soul lover I'm flabbergasted at how much you've all grown. You have a serious fan in the Netherlands! ❤️🇳🇱 Thank you for this fun interview by the way!
Domo arigato gozaimasu for anato no Eigo subtitles and your English speaking is good, so easy to understand. Loved the gadget talk :)
So much fun! Thank you, ladies. ❤❤❤
That was fun! Nice interview :)
Great job Ladies!
It's so nice you Ladys talk in english ! Have fun for your next event , I hope to see you live one day !
Girls you are just beautiful! I kept smiling during the entire video, just because you were smiling and that felt so good. I'm a former drummer from Ukraine and thanks God you have peace in your country so you can play music! God bless you!
Such extraordinary musicians can only use the best equipment possible!!! ❤️🖤💙
These girls are extremely intelligent and "invested" in themselves. Every time they play they show just how smart that investment was, because they are all professional studio class musicians and their talent shines though. Then, when you add their youth and beauty they are the complete package.
English is fine ladies, but you gals have the INTERNATIONAL language of Music. 🖖🏼🤟🏼 I really enjoyed your gear update. Thanks. 本当にありがとう、そして神のご加護がありますように!
You ladies are amazing! Your music is great, and your English challenge is greatly appreciated! Yoku dekemaska! Gombate! (Sorry - my Romagi is not so good!)
This was fun!👍🏼👍🏽 Hope to see more.
Hello Ladies, I want to say that the rhythm section of Jazz Avengers has some very pretty musicians! I was also grateful to hear your comments in English. I know that this is not easy for you to do. Thank you for sharing your gear descriptions with your American fans! Arigatou gozai mashi ta! Will Ortiz👍👍👋👋😀
Great job, ladies!!
Charming and encouraging, thank you! 🍾❤️
Thank you - I love you guys 💕💕
Great video!!!
Whatever you do, have fun! When I was about to finish high school, I went to an advisor. He asked me about my interests. - Photography and aviation, I said. - And what are you planning in the future? he asked. - Engineering, I replied. - You should do what you like to do, he said. - There's no future in that, I thought. But I never became an engineer. First, I worked with photography at a professional level for 7 years. Then, I became a pilot. What I have learned is that it is important to have fun in your life. Therefore, it is so fantastic to see the memebers in the band having fun together.
Thanks for the English what a treat. The music is universal but I think interacting some in English will increase your audience even more.
You are all just as delightful as you are talented 💖 And you clearly have fun 😃 Thank you for sharing (I will go “buy and play”)
Thank you. You girls are awesome!!!!!
Very cool video... the girls speaking in English, after all they are big music stars and have fans in many countries around the world.... thanks girls... you are very nice... you have many fans in Brazil

So sweet women. Amazing musicians. Wonderful hard workers. I love you The Jazz Avengers.
Van Halen keyboardist is a hottie!😍 Senri is one of the top 5 drummers in the world - she can play any genre.
Senri is amazing and so is the band. I play Sonor and Yamaha and they’re the best to my ears.
Very good english from everyone! You are already global, I’m following you from England! Being a keyboard player myself I totally agree about being able to carry it yourself self. 皆さん頑張って!
Their all just naturals 😊
Waiting for "Jump"-cover by Marie Takeda.
ご苦労様でした。 Beste Wünsche.

Très très charmantes et fraîches jeunes femmes.....et talentueuses
Las más grandes músicas de Jazz!
Excellent. : )
Great job with the English challenge!!! Ocho Kari Samu deshida!!!
"Just buy and play" only works in Japan - for everyone else, you must rent and practice for 20 years just to play C major scale. 💖💗💓

It should be: Do what it takes to play. Does your school have a music department? Join the band. Ask your teacher if you can stay after ours to practice. Borrow a friends bass Visit that cousin you don't know that well or pester your parents for a cheap knockoff. ANYTHING. Do whatever gets your hands on a bass and play. 🎸♥

@@OG_Mereles Yep, it's more about discipline, desire, and putting in the hard work necessary to improve and grow. My comment was more of an observation about the insane level of talent and skill let loose in the Japanese music scene over the last two decades - and these ladies are no exception! 💖💗
みんな英語達者だから直ぐ海外でも戦えるね、Buy and play❗
Loving you girls. WoW what beautiful music. Love you Juna. Come back to America. All of you. You need to record a record here.
I love Senri. She has become my favorite drummer. 私は千里を愛しています。 彼女は私の好きなドラマーです。
Just buy and play! 😁
I’m from Chile but living in Montreal, Quebec and recently I discovered The Jazz Avenger and this Group is fantastic. My daughter visited Japan this year and fell in love with this country and its culture, especially its gastronomy, she even told me that she would love to live in Tokyo . Congratulations from Canada you are amazing young musiciens !
Senri is an angel
Thanks for the summary! I've been waiting for a rundown of Chizuru-san's rig, as I was curious about the colourful multi-button box. Now I know it is a "switcher". Do you use it just to switch between pedal combinations on the board, or also amp channels? I used to use one external switch of the Roland GP-8 to switch amp lead channel on / off according to the preset. I really like your wah-sound; comes through nicely in the mix without dominating too much.

Baldwin piano, and lots of other goodies.
If they Said those things are expensive in Japan, I don't even wanna imagine how much they coast here in Brazil 😂😂😂
Hello all beautiful I have questions how perform practicing band ,everyone should know chord n Melody from home so we can play together is that right?
