Had that when I was a kid. My crappy friend broke the big head right away, should’ve taken it as a sign. That boy was epic and I utilized the parts for other figures to.

An absolute favorite! The US Commemorative reissue doesnt have the blue plastic problem. Another awesome video!

I swear that blue plastic is worse than gold. At least everyone knows about the gold becoming brittle but the blue does the exact opposite, just hardens to hell and explodes. Thankfully mine hasn't broken anywhere major, minus a clip holding the God Ginrai foot on but I managed to glue that back on.

Love the G1. It helps you appreciate what we get now more

I have the Toysrus Reissue and I love that even tho it's Optimus with Apex Armor ( hate that name) it came with a GINRAI figure instead of Hi-Q ...even called it God Ginrai for years because I erroniously thought Ginrai preceded PW Optimus until a few months back where I found out it is quite the opposite . Anyhoot, nice review as always, G1 is my childhood ( Im pretty old) so it's nice to see younger generations digging my homeline :)

Loved the American version when it first came out and the upgrades make it worth it. I know its God Ginrai, but I look at it as Apex Armor Powermaster Optimus Prime. Apex Bomber is an upgraded Roller. Great review. I'm sure you've seen my vid about it.

Yup! Had to watch it to refry my memory of the character. Cant wrap my head around calling it apex armor these days tho. Just always thought god bomber was cooler anyway😂😂

Great review. It just occurred to me I have G1, god ginri, G2 and Star convoy. All the generation one versions of Optimus prime.

It's also a holy grail for me despit that I'm not a huge fan of its design, but still he's excellent imo, the definition of G1 japanese toys with Star Saber and Deathsaurus

If I were ever to review this toy, I'd title it how to make a big dumb toy look even dumber. Jokes aside it's a fun novelty collectors piece with conceptually brilliant engineering for the G1 era. Owning a second hand of the original, I also got the Takara release with the God bomber accessory, and while it's tall, and impressive all combined the proportions are so out the window it looks more hilarious than awesome, but fundamentally it's still a G1 toy so can't complain to much. Owning also the Commemorative Prime, and Ultra Magnus they too had their smokestacks chopped for whatever reason as did the MP01 which was really sad to see. Was messing with this toy not to long ago, and those hip ratchets are scary tight so no base mode ever. Also the Ginrai figure does not remove easily from the chest on mine whereas it has no difficulty on the original Hasbro release.
