What Filters Do and Do Not Do

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

What Respirator filters do and what they cannot do. Filters as the name implies filter impurities and poisons from the air, so the wearer can breath clean air. However filters cannot provide the wearer with oxygen or filter certain gasses.

  • @cloboak5725

    GlacierDragonPlayz Yes. Smoke is a particle. If there are buildings in the fires wake which may contain toxic materials like treated wood or old insulation; you'll probably want a filter with charcoal due to the potential vapors produced.

    Im interested what do you think about peoples saying that nerve agents aren't dangerous or that they are not very dangerous, They say things like that u can swip them off from your bare skin beacause they did not gone deeper and they say that if u do that nothing will happen. Im mostly asking out of curiosity as the mentioned video realesed this month and it is covering some subjects you covered in your videos, but is in contrasting to what u said, stating that if nerve agent is spilled/contacts your body u can swip it off or clean it off like nothing happend as long as u haven't inhaled it and nothing serious will happen. Or that if u don't inhale fatal dose it won't be very dangerous. They bring up the Tokyo subway attack with the Sarin as a proof that they are right, tho from what i remmember u said that sarin in that attack wasn't of good quality (im not sure if that is waht u said, i don't remmember). So how it is with those nerve agents, are they not rly that dangerous?

    You mean Thunderfoots video where he talks about stuff he doesn't understand, I sort of countered it in a recent video about why terrorists dont really use chemical weapons. Regardless nerve agents are WMDs, a gram of VX can kill up to 1000 people through skin contact. That says enough.

    I have found a way to make pbf gas mask safe. You need two 40mm particle filters and replace the eo19 filters with the particle filters Edit: I'm not sure if it works for filtering because you have to put the filter in the "wrong way" but if you want to look cool it will work

  • @marchello8348

    @marchello8348

    Wont do anything really, you would have to heavily modify the mask to accept 40mm, but the mask is meant for cheek filters so the 40mm filters would droop quite a bit, good luck getting a seal.

    in a Metro 2033 scenario where someone were to walk the planes of a city with irradiated airborne particles, would the minimum level of protection needed to survive be a full on rubber N.B.C. suit or just a full face respirator with a P3 filter or proper ABEK filter? My guess is the N.B.C. suit.

  • @Weaponsandstuff93

    If there was no gamma radiation and just alpha particles, a regular mask would be fine, however if there is meant to be gamma radiation as well nothing will protect you short of a lead suit.

    i dont think you understand how HEPA filters works. The filters are not a colander as most believed. If thats the case, one may possibly question that why the filters works best at trapping small and large particles but not the medium sized ones. for large ones, yes the filter works like a colander but for medium and small particles, it relies on electrostatic force to attract the particles so that they wouyld stick on them.

    Firstly why is running water audible in the backround? And secondly what if you had a filter connected to a filter connected to a filter etc like a straw, each filtering different gas? Would you survive if gasses those filters filter. The only reasons i can think of that this may not work is it could be difficult to breathe

    Fish tank in the corner. Nope that wouldn't work for the same reason having an ABE filter on one side and a K filter on the other, the gas will go through the filters not set up for it.
