What F1 Team PRINCIPALS THINK of Max Verstappen

Ойын-сауық

F1 team bosses are locked in a bitter-sweet relationship with Max Verstappen.
On one hand, they know he's one of the reasons the sport is getting so much publicity. But on the other hand, they also know the Dutch racer is the main reason their drivers won't win the championship this year and perhaps for the foreseeable future.
So, what exactly do they make of Verstappen? Do they enjoy competing against him? Or would they rather have a championship without the Red Bull racer?
From Fred Vasseur to Mike Krack and James Vowles, this is what F1 team principals think of Max Verstappen.

    Results 2021 season: Number of Pole positions Max 10 and Lewis 5 / Number of fastest laps Max 6 and Lewis 6/ Number of victories Max 10 and Lewis 8 / Number of sprint race victories: Max 1 and Lewis 0... So there is only one conclusion to be drawn and that is that Max's performance in 2021 was better than Lewis's! And even if Max's last win was deleted, he still managed more wins that season than Lewis! And then there were Max two retirements 1 at Silverstone where Lewis knocked him off the track and at Monza where they both went off. And then there is the fact that Max's Red Bull was inferior to the Mercedes of Lewis and Bottas. So the facts and results show that it is a completely pointless discussion whether Max's 2021 championship would not be deserved!

    Also, let not forget that race where in LH have been cutting corners during the whole race, clearly gaining an advantage timewise, then Max passed him, only just crossing the line and had to give up the P1 spot again..

    If Vowles and Seidel want to talk about Unsportsmanlike or Unfair: There was nothing of the sort done by Max, so why? Now, if LH would have won the WDC '21 THAT would be Unsportsmanlike and Unfair! If a proper penalty had been served, In my opinion a ban for at least 3 races, that would have been very mild, but fair(ish). Why? Images in Silverstone (below) show (from the front) that LH was driving on the far right with a huge cloud of dirt behind him, and therefore entered Copse with completely dirty (and not properly warmed up) tires just after the start. With clean tires his line would have been "difficult" (read: impossible) to achieve, but impossible with dirty tires. It won't be easy to convince me that someone with his experience, on his home track, didn't realize that. In my world this was an attack very potential to be lethal .👴🤷‍♂ Images: @00:02 kzread.info/dash/bejne/nHVk0NGEm9PRl6Q.html @00:52 kzread.info/dash/bejne/eIaomsqRdsWWhso.html @00:18 kzread.info/dash/bejne/oX1_x85vmrmqY7Q.html That's why the end result of the '21 WDC was more than fair.

    Yep, I (still) call it involuntary manslaughter that should have been prosecuted. There have been similar cases in football, however that was when the victim was so damaged that it was career ending. On the other hand, that sport is not so dangerous than going into a corner close to 300 kph. The few seconds penalty that Hamilton got was laughable.

    As long as Max stays at ORBR, there's no beating him. Hamilton to Ferrari wasn't a "pipe dream", it was inevitable with Merc's behavior since 2021. Horner has to smooth things over in Milton Keynes and hang on to Max.

  • @timevortex5524
    @timevortex5524Ай бұрын

    Again, one race is not a championship. And the RBR with less finishes still lead more than every other driver combined. Championshipwise it would have been ridiculously unfair if Verstappen lost that championship in that race.

    I agree that a championship win for Hamilton would have been unfair. But that last race was unfairly won by Verstappen. It is a dilemma that has no good solution. Everybody should agree on one thing: The situation in the last race being what it was, Max did what every other driver would do.

  • @wordy4908

    Yes tire management and the Red Bull team are fantastic. But Verstappen is a uniquely superior driver. Max dominates because he can drive the car tuned at it’s best (with less forward down force). For Perez and most other drivers the car is too squirley to drive.

  • @Arsenic71
    @Arsenic71Ай бұрын

    First, once you win a championship, nobody asks how you did it (at least after a few years), so it's irrelevant. Was it fair? I think yes, absolutely. Not the season finale as such, but looking at the entire season, Max was given some justice. Had Lewis not shunted Max off the track at Silverstone (and given a penalty that meant exactly zero), that season would have been Max' anyway.

  • @williamhuigens3192

    Well people can argue on the closing battle of thje 2021 season, but that's hardly Verstappen's fault. He's the guy driving. I agree with it being controversial, however, it's also a fact that Mercedes dropped the ball on not pitting Hamilton. And that's just one example. Also, Lewis has stated more than once he'd have done the exact same thing if the situation had been reversed. They both deserved the title that year, and honestly with how the race was unfolding, it was Lewis' title. Things swung the other way by decisions made by folks not actually driving the cars. I'd argue not toi blame the drivers for this, but that's just my two cents 🙂

    Max lost at least between 36 and 50 points because of Mercedes drivers, Lewis gained 50 points because of it and he lost 7 points because of the fact that Masi did justice to the season. Look at the world reactions on Max winning the world title. Except of the English the rest of the world thinks that justice was done.

    3 Races, .... 1 DNF, .... and still number 1 in the championship! How? Is he so good? Or is there no real competition? Like last year Verstappen would win the constructors championship, ..... alone! He's just an another level. It's F1 and a whole lot of people are against me, ..... but same engine and cars should be introduced! That would make the driver stand out! Schumacher winnen a lot, Hamilton, ... and now Max. It should be more close together! It just gets boring. Even for a Dutch person like me!

    F1 is about the development of the car and engine. That's the excitement of it. Yes we all want to see battles for the win. But it is no Indy or nascar race. I like to see how teams develope through the year. The other battles in the race are great to watch.
