I ask for my 10c often. I save them up and give my change to Tears.
Bread nowadays goes off even before the Sell By Date.
We have a Bargainizer in our area. We go multiple time a month buying food items, luxuries, toiletries, etc. Perfectly safe to use and eat. 👍🏻

The best before date is based on accelerated testing at 40 degrees and high RH. If it passes this period of 4 months it is deemed to be shelf stable for 1 year. However this rule applies to all i.e. if it passes the test by any measure the. 1 year is approved. This product could actually be packed in a way that it would be fresh for 3 years but if the company policy is 1 year then the coding would have a BB date of 1 year!

Why don't we retest a sample of each batch and approve an additional shelf life. Test moisture, micro, stability when used as directed...
The sell by date on tinned foods is rubbish. Tinned foods last years after the date.
