00:09 What is an HSG Test?
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a radiographic procedure.
It involves injecting a contrast dye into the uterine cavity.
It assesses the patency (openness) of the fallopian tubes.
It's commonly used to investigate infertility or recurrent miscarriages.
00:32 1st Result: Normal Result
The dye flows freely through the uterus.
Both fallopian tubes are open.
Dye spills out into the abdominal cavity.
Indicates no blockages or structural abnormalities.
01:06 2nd Result: One fallopian Tube block
The dye flows through the uterus.
Dye enters only one fallopian tube.
Blockage was detected in the other fallopian tube.
Can affect fertility but natural conception is still possible.
01:55 3rd Result: Both Fallopian Tubes blocked
Dye fails to enter either fallopian tube.
Indicates bilateral tubal blockage.
A significant cause of infertility.
Further evaluation and treatment are required.
1) Cornua
Proximal part of the fallopian tube, Closest to the uterus. Blockage here is called a proximal tubal occlusion.
2) Fimbriae
The distal end of the fallopian tube, Closest to the ovary. Blockage here is called a distal tubal occlusion.

1) HSG Cannulation for Cornua:
Used to clear proximal tubal blockages.
A fine catheter is used to try and open the blocked section.
2) Fimbrial End Laparoscopy:
Used to assess and treat blockages at the distal end.
Laparoscopy helps visualize and potentially clear the blockage.
02:56 No Interpretation
The dye does not enter the uterine cavity.
Instead, it comes out of the cervix.
Indicates that the test was not performed correctly or there is a significant obstruction.
03:41 Cervix Abnormalities
The cervix is abnormal due to stenosis (narrowing).
Tablet Misoprostol is inserted to dilate the cervix.
A uterine sound is inserted to help open the cervix for further procedures.
04:16 IVF Treatment in HSG Context
Recommended when both fallopian tubes are blocked.
Confirms that natural conception is not possible.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) becomes the next step to achieve pregnancy.
