You know the answers beforehand, both prosecution and defence or in this case, whether you're for or against a ban. You don't ask questions for the sake of hearing the answer. You ask questions to make a statement that supports your position.

This was a show trial. They asked so many loaded questions, didn't give him any chance to respond, and demanded YES or NO answers.
