What Does the Lyre Symbol Mean? Vandoren Clarinet Mouthpieces
Музыка
Andrew Hadro, Vandoren Products Specialist at the New York Studio, discusses what the Lyre symbol means on some of our Vandoren clarinet mouthpieces.
We have 5 Lyre mouthpiece models for Bb Clarinet:
M13 Lyre
5RV Lyre
M30 Lyre
B40 Lyre
B45 Lyre

Understood it perfectly - it is impossible to put in words the beauty of our carefully crafted mouthpiece. Try (buy) as many versions of our mouthpieces, and you will definitely find one that you like.
Very well described. Thank you
I think the "Lyre" would mean more if there was more consistency across Vandoren's line. I've played so many M13's that play more like 13 Lyres, and vice versa. Now, how about doing a video on the little symbols on the bottom of the tenons?

Hi Dale - great suggestion. Those markings at the bottom of our mouthpieces are just production markings for internal use. Hope this helps clarify!
Clear as mud. It's this, but not this type explanation. Feels like they had inconsistency in production and the lyre stamp was applied after the fact
This doesnt clarify :p

You should review the new Dickerson Resonator Ligature withe vandoren mouthpiece-the ligature is on Reverb & ebay-it's awesome
So will both the m13 lyre and m13 fit onto the same clarinet my dog chewed my mouthpiece years ago and I haven't been able to stop the itch lol I need to play again😅😂 hopei get an answer
I wish you would restructure your system....have the lyres be larger....similar to * on some saxophone mouthpieces.... Also...why...WHY is the BD4 larger than a BD5.....WTF....
Hi Andrew. Can I adapt/re-work my M13 and M13 Lyre mouthpieces to tune to A440 on my Buffet Festival clarinet, which I bought in Paris in 1990? In other words, can I adapt or get these mouthpieces in the 3000 series, which I have done for my M40, etc. Thank you. DRStutz

Hi David - both the M13 and M13 Lyre are already tuned to A440 and will fit on your Buffet Festival clarinet. The M13 Lyre is slightly more open than the M13. You can compare them on our website here: vandoren.fr/en/clarinet-mouthpieces-comparison/
oh my god... why so complicated? are they drunk at Vandoren? when you look at the Vandoren mouthpiece chart, you understand nothing, it looks like a joke... Have a look to the new Black Diamond... BD4 is more open than BD5 but less than BD7...incredible.

If you know where you are on the map of options, you might just buy one mouthpiece instead of 3 over the same period of time, so let's have a think here...
Lyre avant à l'époque du 5RV Le 5 RV Lyre était plus ouvert de même que le B45 lyre.... et maintenant M30 lyre B40 lyre plus fermé que les M30 ET b 40 ....,,, ,, Elle est où la logique.....??? ù yre
Ridiculous classification system.
I don’t believe you 😉
