Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage There is a saying among religious Jews concerning divine truth written in their holy Bible (The Old Testament), which is that anything true is not new, and anything new is not true. This means that anything considered as "divine truth" is measured against the standards of the Old Testament. This idea corresponds to the following Bible verses: 1) Isaiah 8:20 20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. 2) Deuteronomy 4:2 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. 3) Proverbs 30:6 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. 4) Ecclesiastes 7:20 20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. These verses apply to all people, including Jesus also. After all, he taught them himself. --------------------------------------------- Biblical Rules concerning laws of divorcement Deuteronomy 24:1-4 24 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. 3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the Lord: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. --------------------------------------------- Did Jesus contradict the Biblical laws that he also taught? Matthew 5:17-19 & 31-32 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. --------------------------------------------- Jesus reconfirms the duration of God's holy law, but then unfortunately adds to it. Luke 16:17-18 17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. 18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery. ••• Proverbs 30:6••• 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. •••Deuteronomy 4:2••• 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. --------------------------------------------- Jesus continues adding to the law of God, saying that Moses made exceptions for the people, which was not true. Matthew 19:3-11 3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. 10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. 11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. •••Isaiah 8:20••• 20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

I declined due to my pre existing health condition (Lupus) also recently had a heart attack. Every month is a struggle I barely get by. This month I’m short on my rent. I’m so ashamed of my situation. I’m a single mom. My sons are both autistic and non verbal. My husband passed away three years ago so we are all alone. I’ve been put down called names. I’m depressed. I have nowhere to turn. Please pray for me. No matter what I’m facing. I will continue to trust God he will provide for me and my children.

I’ve just been kicked out of my church. Off the board of the church and had my membership revoked for standing on Gods Word on this very issue. My Pastor who pastored for the last 32 years was replaced by a man who has married a woman who was divorced (not because of death or adultery) and was himself divorced for irreconcilable differences (not adultery or death).I voiced that concern. That they were living in sin and shouldn’t be in leadership. Knowing that I could be rejected by the church. And so It happened. I stand in agreement with you brother!

I've been divorced for 9 years. I was given divorce papers and sent away because of irreconcilable differences. A lie from the pit. The enemy destroyed my very salvageable marriage. The state sees us as divorced but we're still married in God's eyes. My ex and I are both still unmarried. My prayer is to be content and not lonely as being single and to not to be tempted to remarry someone else.

After 27 1/2 years married, my wife handed me divorce papers after her heart disconnected from me over 8 years ago. I prayed for reconciliation that never happened, even though she claims to be a Christian. I know I am not perfect in my relationship with Christ, but have always pursued Him. Now trying to pick up the pieces of my life as the divorce finalized on Jan. 25. Just never thought this would happen and so sad that my wife listened to the enemy for so many years and hardened her heart. But God gives free will and this was all her choice.

My divorce was finalized a week before yours. (25 years in my case). No adultery (or any abuse for that matter but that's besides the point). It was a court ordered divorce so my conscience is clear. But I'm still married in God's eyes so I still wear my ring.

I agree. It's not your fault that she left. Satan whispered in her ear and told her it was fine to leave just "because". You wanted to keep the marriage, but the reconciliation didn't happen. That is her choice, not yours. I hope down the road you find a wonderful Christian woman who treats you as you deserve.

C.J. I am in the same boat. My husband was a serial adulterer. I put up with so much but trusted God would change him. He kicked us out several times. The last time for a married coworker 20 year his junior. He stopped even having anything to do with his 15 year old son at the time. He is due to get a big inheritence in May and I was just served divorce papers. So much more going on. I am struggling to heal emotionally and wonder if I am lacking in my faith for us to be going thru everything. I didn't think it would happen again....I divorced him in 2009 because of his adultery and his kicking up out for a girl 20 years his junior then also (she was only 19 and he was 39). When I divorced him it drove him crazy and he would take no for an answer when he pursued me to get me back. He even pretended to be a christian. I remarried him and I am now in worse shape this time, emotionally. My son had a breakdown and so did I. I could write a book but just know you are not alone. I will pray for you, please pray for me and my family. God bless!!

This is a very tough and sensitive topic so there is no judgement here. This is a subject where you must pray and fast for answers from God right now while you are still alive!! Don’t wait until it is too late. For there will be no chances left to argue your case. After your life is over, that’s it your judgement will be decided. My first marriage to an unbeliever ended with domestic abuse and adultery - he got another woman pregnant and ruined her life too. Now he's in prison for nearly killing his new wife. I could have ended up dead. I divorced him even though it tore me apart to have to file for divorce, it meant I would be a single mother. Years later, I am remarried to a man who loves God as much as I do, he was abandoned by his first wife, and now God has fixed a very broken situation for us both- we are now a family and my now husband has adopted my son and is helping me raise him as a Christian. I thank God for mending a broken situation, not just for me, but my little son. Remarriage in the right circumstances, led by God, can be absolutely fine 😁

If people really read the Bible before getting married, a lot of people wouldn't get married until they're truly ready to get married. A lot of people look at marriage from Disney movies, Lifetime, or someone else's marriage. But if you follow God laws and his commandments when it comes to marriage, people would have a better marriage.

Yes because c if you follow God's laws period you will make wiser choices concerning who to date, court, and marry, which will gestalt reduce the risk of messing an adulterer, abuse or anyone who would violate the laws of marriage. It makes for a stronger marriage from the start.

I wish so much that i waited, but i was committed. She has a borderline personality and she used and abused me(me the husband). She thinksbonly of herself and cannot be trusted. I was blinded by my lonliness and eager to show her i wasnt with her just for sex. It was a weak justification for marriage. Had i waited i wouldve seen who she really was. I have 2 awesome kids by her, but im afraid if i remarry, i will commit adultery. Ive heard pastors say that i could remarry because she cheated. Im not sure who to believe, all my life ive been taught remarriage is adultery ex -spouse lives. Im.so sorry i ever got married.

"But if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage." One of the great mysteries of the Bible, when you think about that "law of marriage." Because God's people left Him and worshiped other gods, then God could never be with them again because they committed spiritual adultery! The only way they could ever be reconciled back to Him, God himself had to die for the law of marriage to be broken! The husband had to die so she could be released from the law! I heard that before and it blew me away...

For I am merciful,’ says the Lord; ‘I will not remain angry forever. Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the Lord your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,’ says the Lord. “Return, O backsliding children,” says the Lord; “for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. Jeremiah 3:12‭-‬14 NKJV Marriage is not ended by anything but death. We are in the church age that began at Pentecost and ends at the rapture. We are the betrothed "bride of Christ" the Son of God. The Father is still married to Israel, and the church is not Israel, so after the church is raptured, God will save the Jews beginning with the 144,000 literally male virgins from each of the 12 Tribes. My wife left me (for someone else she was seeing) and I'm alone now. She cheated on me (three different men), verbally, and emotionally abused me. I stayed though, and I tried to work through all of it. She eventually kicked me out and I lost my home and most of my property and our marriage. The aloneness comes and goes. It's been many months now. It's brought me closer to Christ again (one of the reasons she left me) but I still feel lacking often. Just learning lately that I can't remarry even though I was the victim... Knowing I'll never experience the touch and love of another again (I'm 37) is utterly heartbreaking to me right now. I'm holding on to the "one day there will be something better" after this life but I don't want this one to feel this bad. I try to keep a smile on my face every day and tell everyone "I'm okay" and that I'm doing well. Try to just go about my life. I pour myself into scripture, prayer, and meditation but it still feels daunting to know I will feel this hurt for probably many more decades. I don't really know what to do to feel better. It is deep despair and I'm not sure I'll be able to live with this much pain.

You as the non-adultering party should divorce her and be free to remarry (to someone in the Lord). What is marriage? Gen 2:24 and Mat 19:5-6. When is it ok for a Christian to divorce? Mat 5:32 and 19:9. Biblical marriage 101: you can't be one with your spouse and with someone else at the same time.

Same situation but I'm 33.. In the end here there are two schools of thoughts some simply comes down to which translation you read KJV or other due to the fornication vs adultery argument. The other like in our case abandonment. 1 corithians 7:15 they argue that if Paul gave another reason for remarriage he would be contradicting Jesus words on the sermon on the mount EXCEPT fornication/sexual immorality (based on translation). Which I don't believe is correct. If we look at context Jesus spoke to Jewish folks and their culture. While Paul spoke to the Gentiles.. we end up with legalists which push people away from the cross. Some people will say it's our cross to bear for actions of another.. do your own studying and consult God. I hear you man sometimes you think it be a blessing to get hit by a bus and just have it ended so you don't have to go through life alone.. then die alone.

I'm 35 and in a very similar situation. My wife cheated on me and divorced me to be with another man. I briefly continued a sexual relationship with her after she broke up with the guy and it has messed me up even more. I'm not fit for anyone sexually now. Only reason I'm alive is for my son that I have with her.

Not what Daniel says, but the BIBLE SAYS: But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother [to establish a home with his wife], and the two shall become one flesh; so that they are no longer two, but [are united as] one flesh. Therefore, what God has united and joined together, man must not separate [by divorce].” In the house the disciples began questioning Him again about this. And He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; and if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.” Mark 10:6‭-‬12 AMP Or do you not know, brothers and sisters (for I am speaking to those who know the Law), that the Law has jurisdiction [to rule] over a person as long as he lives? For the married woman [as an example] is bound and remains bound by law to her husband while he lives; but if her husband dies, she is released and exempt from the law concerning her husband. Accordingly, she will be designated as an adulteress if she unites herself to another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law [regarding marriage], so that she is not an adulteress if she marries another man. Romans 7:1‭-‬3 AMP But to the married [believers] I give instructions-not I, but the Lord-that the wife is not to separate from her husband, (but even if she does leave him, let her remain single or else be reconciled to her husband) and that the husband should not leave his wife. A wife is bound [to her husband by law] as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry whomever she wishes, only [provided that he too is] in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:10‭-‬11‭, ‬39 AMP Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were sneering and ridiculing Him. So He said to them, “You are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts [your thoughts, your desires, your secrets]; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God. “The Law and the [writings of the] Prophets were proclaimed until John; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God has been and continues to be preached, and everyone tries forcefully to go into it. Yet it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for a single stroke of a letter of the Law to fail and become void. “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from her husband commits adultery. Luke 16:14‭-‬18 AMP But you say, “Why [does He reject it]?” Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously. Yet she is your marriage companion and the wife of your covenant [made by your vows]. But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And what did that one do while seeking a godly offspring? Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with wrong and violence,” says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore keep watch on your spirit, so that you do not deal treacherously [with your wife].” Malachi 2:14‭-‬16 AMP

I have been watching and enjoying your videos for a few weeks now since discovering your channel, Daniel. You are a very good Bible teacher. You explain things clearly and always use your Bible. I just want to be clear on what you say about divorce and remarriage, when it comes to divorcing a spouse that commits adultery against you. This happened in my first marriage. He cheated more than once. I was single for about 10 years, but then I did remarry. I understood what Matthew 5:32 says to mean if one divorces their spouse, EXCEPT on grounds of sexual immorality, and marries another they commit adultery. In God’s eyes only death or adultery break the marriage bond. But, of course, as you mentioned, the innocent spouse can forgive. I did the first time. But his gambling and drinking made many problems. So with that and the cheating I finally decided to divorce him on those scriptural grounds. Thank you.

Death does end a marriage. So does abandonment by a non-believing spouse (1 Cor 7:15). The Book of Matthew discusses adultery being another reason. It does mean that a believer HAS to divorce but those events can sever the marriage bond if the innocent party so chooses (yes, there is an innocent party). Death severs this bond, also. As for Romans 7: 2, 3. Great verses. I would hope that my wife, while I am still her husband, would not marry another person. That would definitely be adultery. If she did, I would be justified in divorcing her.

You should look up the word “dead” in the Greek. The word Paul uses doesn’t mean dead literally. It also means dead figuratively. There is another word they use for the word dead that means deceased. So the word dead Paul used applies to both widows and those who are divorced. Also “the law” freed women through divorce from the marriage. They were required to receive a bill of divorce. The bill of divorce freed her from the marriage. She could remarry but could not return to her former husband.

Romans 7:1-3 7 Now, dear brothers and sisters-you who are familiar with the law-don’t you know that the law applies only while a person is living? 2 For example, when a woman marries, the law binds her to her husband as long as he is alive. But if he dies, the laws of marriage no longer apply to her. 3 So while her husband is alive, she would be committing adultery if she married another man. If a man is leading his family as Jesus leads with love, submission is natural. Jesus earned my submission to Him for the rest of my life, because He deserves it. My submission is a gift I present to my husband because I trust him. If it is necessary to berate with the Word of God, instead of letting the Word live through you in action and deed, allowing the wife to lay their submission at his feet as a gift. Is a sign of weakness. In this age of extreme deception, women has to really seek guidance from the Holy Spirit.

You misinterpreted 1 Corinthians 7:15 and I quote “ if the unbelieving partner…” which state that only if the unbeliever wants to separate than let it be so and not the believer and also that does not mean you are free to remarry if the unbeliever chooses to separate than separate but you will need to remain single as long as he/she lives or decide to reconcile. God does not make certain exceptions in regards to marriage His message is clear if you remarry while your ex-partner is still alive you commit adultery.

You are correct regarding 1 Corinthians 7:15 as Paul not referring to divorce. However, in Matthew 5:32 and 19:9, Jesus does allow divorce for fornication.

I had a similar life to the one did. You was brought up in a loving family who Worshipped Our Father God Almighty and his only Son Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Blessed Lady Mary. I wished I had been in a family union like yours. My Earth father was Catholic, my Earth mother was Jewish. I don’t know which Religion I had when I was a baby. Nothing what so ever was ever talked about Religion, the only thing I had was a tiny silver bracelet which my Earth mother gave away with my permission I wasn’t told what it meant only it was yours when you was a baby. I’ve always had this Great Urning to own a cross but it had to have Our Lord Jesus Christ on it and the same Urning for a figure of Our Blessed Lady Mary but I never knew why?? I met Our Lord Jesus Christ and through him I found Our Father God Almighty and Our Blessed Lady Mary when I was 56 years old. When I was I was a little bit older I learned how to ask Our Lord Jesus Christ to hear my full Confession. I don’t know how long I wash telling him about every sin I’ve committed but I couldn’t remember every one of them. When I woke up the next day I felt so so light hearted it was like a Huge Bolder had been lifted off of my shoulders You’ve No Idea How Free I Felt For The Very First Time In My Entire Life. I would’ve jumped up and down and Screamed for Joy 🤩 I did the Screaming bit but I can’t walk but I don’t want to get into that. What’s More Important is what I’ve just shared with you Daniel and of course all your loyal subscribers. This is my very first time I’ve ever made a comment on your KZread channel, I’ve been watching you for a very long time. I wish I could help you with donating money to you but I already do Our Great Saint Pedro Pio for both my Partner and I. We live nearly 3 hours apart because I used to live with him but I couldn’t get the proper medical help there because I cost too much money in Medication let alone every operation I’ve had to have. We wasn’t happy but I had to go back to where I moved to when I was 31 years old, it’s the only place I’ve ever called my home. He still comes to stay with me and he brings our grandchildren which is so lovely, not only I got a loving Partner but I have 2 step daughter’s and 4 Beautiful grandchildren. I’ve had a fantastic day today Praying and reading the Bible when my times my own because I have carer’s But I’m not telling you a tiny bit of my problems and I Certainly don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me because I certainly won’t thank anybody for that. I have my Faith and my family what else can compare to that. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
