Giddey will not be used the same way that was used in OKC so .... the liability of him being spaced in the corner isn't even a viable concern because he will have the ball in his hands in Chicago.

I have a bad feeling this is going to get even worse. I don't think this is what people think it is. I don't think this is the start of the rebuild we all know we need. I think our front office believes they just got the next Lonzo Ball. The missing piece. I definitely think we look to trade Lavine but I don't think it's going to be for picks or for even another young player. I think we are looking to get a veteran defensive big, like a Clint Capella. We will attempt to overpay for Derozan and we will look to make the playoffs again next season. He will have to choose between us, for a much bigger contract, or go for a championship somewhere else. Maybe he will accidentally do us a favor and choose the championship. But I think we are STILL shooting for the sweet sweet play in. I pray I'm wrong and this is a sign of us accepting that we aren't good enough to contend so we have to rebuild. Even though I really didn't like this trade... If it means we are actually committing to a rebuild then I think it's ultimately a good thing. But I think history will show that the Bulls front office is always going to be delusional enough to somehow make things worse.

@@TwistYourDreams No he wouldn't. Did you watch him this season? He was left wide open and was afraid to shoot 3s. He was awful. I will admit I would have loved this trade 3 years ago but Giddey has REGRESSED since his rookie year. We should have gotten more in return. This trade was horrible and I've been wanting us to rebuild for years so I WANTED us to trade away Caruso.

@@794edgar Derrick White is 10x better than Giddey. If you're acting like Derrick White is just some dude then I know you have some questionable judgement. They said the 2020 draft class was really weak. Anthony Edwards, Lamelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassel, Tyrese Maxey, Jaden McDaniels, and Desmond Bane all went in that draft class. Giddey needs a new contract. We are going to have to PAY him. This was one of the dumbest trades I've ever seen. There's a whole bunch of players in this draft whose upside I would rather have than Giddey.

Giddey went 6th in 2021 as a 19 year old. Look up who went ahead of him. A 19 year old Giddey would be in consideration for the #1 overall pick in this draft.

Giddey has no baggage... just let him play

Alex Caruso is definitely in line for a head Coaching job when he's ready.

Caruso and Derozan (sp) epitomized the Jordan Bulls culture. Without them, what's left? Who will carry the mantra: it's all about winning? Zachman is all about money me, money me, money me.

Understand what buy low sell higher is...we bought Caruso at a really cheap price he has taught the young guys ayo dasumo pat Williams and coby white how to play defense and communicate and how to get better in weight room he's set the culture already now its time to get paid and we got younger and better probably based on the lack of playmaking we've had...all for a free agent signing that should have stayed in L.A. a win is a win

Why would they go from we want to be a competitive team and don't play their best team then go the next season to basically a rebuild all about young talent?If they that bad with managing talent then throw it away for a rebuild they not worth following. As a matter of fact Jerry should sell the team to Chicago fans we'll be owners and play the talent right when we have it ,it doesn't matter if it's a championship caliber team or a rebuild.

Cowley is right. It's a good move if the intention is to tank. Ideal scenario is Giddey has a bounce back breakout years in 2025 and the Bulls still tank to get within a top 10 pick (anything 11 and up goes to SAS). Then they come back in 2026 with that top 10 pick + a more confident Giddey + a rebuilt Lonzo + Coby + whatever AKME was able to get for Demar, Lavine, and Vuc.

Thunder fan here : A starter for OKC is worth more than just about any other player on any other team.. The success of OKC and the mediocrity of the Bulls disguises the value of this trade.. we have bench players that would be starters on the Bulls... and don't think for a second that one of OKC's starters isn't going to better than just about every other player on this Trash Bulls Team. Thx for Caruso tho.. we're glad to have him back

So very true. Look at Tre Mann at Charlotte - couldnt get on court for OKC and had some excellent games starting for Charlotte. Win/Win this trade and I think Josh Giddey will absouletly star in a weak East conference.

What it signals to me is we are the worst run team in the league. I have WANTED us to blow this roster up for 2-3 years now. We wasted most of the value our vets had. Now that their value is the lowest it could possibly be we trade our best asset for a player who was just exposed in the playoffs, was being left wide open, and had a whole bunch of off the court problems. I would be shocked if we didn't have at least 5 better offers on the table. Even though this is supposed to signal a rebuild starting. I don't think thats what this is. I'm terrified that this is a retooling and our front office believes that if we can get our next Lonzo (who is not as good as Lonzo was before his injury, not even close) and we move Zach to get a defensive big, we can still compete for a playoff spot. We could have gotten draft picks. This off season is going to be disastrous. Maybe I'm wrong... maybe they actually are FINALLY starting the rebuild 2 years too late. I doubt it, but MAYBE. I doubt it though, and even if we are this was an awful way to kick it off. If this is what we got for Caruso we are getting a couple vending machines for whoever else we trade away.

Another thing that is maddening is watching so many former Bulls from the wasted Jim Boylen era contribute with their new teams (most cases in the playoffs) the past 2-3 years years -> Markkanen, Strus, Gafford, Cam Payne, Wendell Carter Jr). Jim Boylen really wasted those years where they had nothing to play for but at least could have developed a team and not just the Zach Lavine show.

@@ryansmith290 I could write an essay about Lauri. I swear on my life when everyone else turned on Lauri I was saying "I know the second we trade him he's gonna be a star". I'll be honest and say I always pictured him going to the Spurs and I thought Pop would develop him and that was a huge part of it... but I just knew it would happen. But he's exceeded even my lofty expectations for him. I always felt like that because whenever any reporter talked to Lauri he was basically like "Please, I just want to be allowed to take other shots than 3s" "I want some touches in the post". Everyone was hating on him for being soft. All the while he's begging our coaching staff to let him be more than a finesse floor stretcher. I don't think Patrick Williams is a future star but I'm 100% sure when he leaves us he's going to become a great piece to a winning team (sounds like OKC really wants him). Everyone hates P Will now but what opportunity have we really given him? Since he's been here he's been at best a 4th-5th option on offense. Any successful player development has been accidental. Ayo and Coby are the bright spots on our team now. They wouldn't be getting anything over 15 mins a game if our team managed to be fully healthy. Players can't develop when every single "star" we have only brings offense to the table. Player development is not happening when the only thing our best players bring to the table is their ability to get shots up. So even the people who argued tanking wasn't a good idea because sometimes good teams find players late like Nikola Jokic. Denver had to send away a pretty good player in Nurkic to give Jokic a chance to grow. Maxey didn't shine until Harden was gone. Haliburton wasn't a superstar until he could spread his wings without Fox. You gotta make some space for young players to develop.

No point of trading him since he is at his lowest value as is, just need to squeeze every ounce from him unlike what they did with Lauri. I was ready to give up on Coby a couple years ago but was shocked how well he did last yr filling in for Lavine. P-Will, Ayo, Coby, and Terry are only young players that Arturas (a.k.a Art U R Ass) has brought in during his tenure. They have nothing to lose from keep playing those guys more to see what they got while they get rid of old players and hopefully start tanking because attracting the big FA option is out of the question as usual...
