What does an aversive level e collar correction looks like when the dog is properly trained
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
I was clear in the training. Showed her what I want. Taught her how to do it. Motivated her to do it. But now that I know you know you have to do it. With the tool she was prepared for this moment, with very low levels, and now when needed a highly aversive level, is clear, and no negative effects, as tens of thousands of others have experienced. Simple

PROPER training PROPER Tools used CORRECTLY. Thank you Larry for keeping it so clear.
Excellent demonstration. Thank you.
This was very helpful thank you.
Thank you
Larry with the e-collar no reward combo do you still mark with a yes or just a good girl that they did it right?
I use one and find in the am a lower setting is ok as my pup responds but if she doesn't it goes up til I do. She is very much responsive to my verbal now and rarely have to us it.
Hi Larry, I purchased an e collar after watching lots of your videos. After having to change out collar case due to breakage, the ground metal at charge port was lost. Any idea how to fix this? I called e collar company, but they do not carry this part. Any advice appreciated, thank you.
Larry at first, due to the wind, I could not hear you and I thought you said 15 was the level but later I heard you say 50. I always wondered what number a stern correction would be. Thank you for these awesome real life scenario videos 🙏🏼 would it be around this same number if the dog goes after a squirrel or other small animals? I have a GSD with hi prey drive. He’s generally good with his commands but when you add other stimulus he gets stubborn.

The number will change depending on the specific dog and the situation. You figure that out by working with the dog and seeing what level they need. For some dogs a 20 would be a "stern correction" Some dogs need more. Some need less. In general though 50 is on the high end for the majority of dogs.

@@connor_phillipz5689level 50 would make my GSD scream...her normal working level is around a 7, and a stern correction would be around a 15 to 20. I use the Dogtra Arc E collar though.

Great topic: my last dog was a Lab mix and he was a killer. Small animals, cats, he was always ready. His normal working level for stuff where he was under threshold was around an 8-10 on a Mini Educator like Larry is using, which has levels 1-100. If he was pretty aroused, a 25 or so would get his attention and we'd go about our off-leash time. He was a great example of a dog where having a remote collar as a safety net/seatbelt gave him a life of freedom he very likely would not have had otherwise. My current Lab is the biggest softy temperament-wise, a dream dog for many. He doesn't even blink until up in the 30s. I thought the collar was broken or I had the fit wrong even though I have almost a decade of remote collar experience. Nope, he just doesn't feel it the same way my last dog did. ALWAYS ALWAYS start at the bottom and slowly work up depending on the individual dog and the circumstances.

@@a.e.s.n. Yep. Exactly my point. I've worked with several dogs who have strong rections to anything higher than an 8. Only way to find out is to work with the dog in front of you to find out what they need.
What do I do in a situation where I have a well trained Labrador with poor recall and I took it to a balanced trainer. In short in the first session he immediately put the collar on my dog and started to stimulate her. I don’t think my dog liked the experience. Is there a way that I can reintroduce her to the ecollar after going to a bad trainer (he pushed the continuous button and made command at the same time) or how do you recondition the dog after it’s went to a bad handler? He broke almost all your rules when starting a good dog on ecollar.
Can you put a link to that leash?

You can probably get something like it from Elite K9
The problem with my dog is losing focus when excited/aroused. This could be due to playing with another dog or when he smells an intact male. Recently, I don't let him off leash anymore as he has been behaving in a concerning aggressive way with intact males. I've read e-collars don't mix with aggression yet the behavioral trainer I contacted says if needed she will use it with him.
First thing I heard about lerry is he can teach someone who is destined to screw up the ecollar how to correctly use it haha
It’s my understanding that the Compliance/learning Phase comes first. THEN once the dog understands how the e collar works (what turns it on & off), I can move up to the correction phase. Do I have this right? would this be considered phase 2 of e collar training? After I’ve taught teaching the dog

He’s got videos covering the whole process watch them again until your sure of everything so you don’t mess your dog up
Oow i though 5 is enough finally one video remove my hesitant in increasing the number in public area
I saw your podcast with Tom Davis and really enjoyed, and I understand what you said about your method on youtube on doing it the simple way, without big production and all. But the only thing you should really look into it is a microphone stuck to your shirt collar, when it gets to a point where we can't hear you, it's very bad for us
The volume makes this video unusable
Man...that sound🤐
Just because you don’t see the behavior that the dog is stressed out by the ecollar, doesn’t mean he is use to it or is not stressed out by it. It’s not always the pain but the anticipation of when he will be hit with the shock or vibration. These are aversive tools that harm dogs. You even use “Aversive” in the title of your video title.

What is your recommendation for very stubborn dogs? Positive reinforcement, treats, stern voice, claps, whistle, you name it is not working for my dog.

@@1packatak he could just buy a microphone for his shirt collar, DJI makes good ones. He said on Tom Davis that he enjoys this type of production, even talked about the wind blowing. I really enjoy his videos and this simple recording type without big production, but when we cant hear what he says because of the wind, its time to improve
