What Does AMERICA do better than BRITAIN??? 🇺🇸🇬🇧

🇺🇸🇬🇧12 things that the US does better than the UK - SUBSCRIBE to find out more: / @shaunvlog
In today's vlog, I ask a very important question: What Does AMERICA do better than BRITAIN ??? Except this is silly because there are hundreds or thousands of things America does best.
My FIRST every experience of American Football: • SCOTTISH REACTION TO A...
It's awesome to see so many people from America who celebrate their Scottish and Irish ancestry so keenly, and come on to KZread to seek out people celebrating these cultural nuances. You only have to look at the success of the Try channel, Facts channel, Joel & Lia and Diane Jennings to see how people love seeing Irish and British People trying American things for example.
I feel sad that, for our part, so few in Scotland celebrate this amazing connection between Scotland and America, and I want to change that. So to start, here are 10 of my first impressions of America, and then i'll go on to talk about other aspects of us culture from a Scottish perspective.

🐺🐗🐆 Just to clarify something. A turn of phrase we in the UK use is “that belongs in a zoo” or “that’s a zoo creature”. We obviously don’t mean that literally. It basically means a wild animal that could be exotic, unusual or dangerous, of the type we simply don’t get in the UK, and the only place we would ever be able to see them is in a zoo. Even if we are opposed to zoos as I am, I’ll still use that phrase which basically means, wow that’s a scary/cool/unusual animal.

I'm SO glad you chose to clarify that statement, because I was formulating a lengthy rebuttal which, thankfully, I now have no reason to type. Grew up in "the woods" in Rhode Island. The forest was relatively calm and safe in the 60's and 70's, when I was a child. In my life I've had the great pleasure of watching otters, mink, weasels, skunks, and various ground rodents, also have since had the honor of seeing the return of wild turkey, beavers, bears, and the coyote/dog hybrid which now fills the niche of the wolf/coyote. But you guys gave us Dr. Who for 50 plus freakin' years! Thanks! (Fell in love with Tom Baker when I was just a child.)

Shaun we in Oregon dont use your zoo phrase! Was watching your Portland shirt video, listening to u talk about cougars! I grew up west of Portland ore living now in eug or!,a few hot summers ago, a housing development displaced Cougars and wild turkeys! Walking down the street I came face to face with a female cougar! Never ever run from one!'they are cats! If u run they will chase u down play with u like prey and maybe kill u! When they want food they also imitate a human baby cry! So ud better know the differences in crimes between cougar and humans!-?my daughter faced that situation! And luckily didnt go to investigate! An hour later she learned it had been a cougar soliciting assistance!

As a landscape photographer based in the PNW, I've had black bear encounters and survived them all right, despite one that was a little touch-and-go. I've only ever seen Grizzlies from a vehicle (thankfully, they give me nightmares) and have only glimpsed a mountain lion (possibly). But I have to think about such things (and snakes) all the time while I'm out and since I've been following more Scottish photographers on IG I've wondered what it would be like to explore mountains like you have there and never have to worry about getting "et by a bear." Oh, and we have wolves now where I live in Oregon. I've even seen one, not 45 minutes from my house. I've been obsessed with wolves since a child. So that was one of the highlights of my life when that wolf stepped out onto the logging road I was walking, took a good look, then vanished back into the forest.

When my older sister went to college she eventually spent a year at Sussex. I was fourteen at the time and at the end of her year we all flew up to see her. After 2 weeks my parents left me with her to go up to do another month of just she and I wandering England and Scotland. She and I had so much fun but the point of the story is the day we went to Loch Lomond I refused to stay on the trail. I dragged my sister all over the beautiful Woodland area surrounding the lake until we were completely lost lol. After two hours we decided to just head in One Direction. It was the wrong direction and wound up at a fence. After arguing about who gets to find out if the fence is electrified or not (i lost lol. Even after reminding her that she was 20 and she's had more years than I did therefore my life was worth more) we couldn't tell where a road was and we could not get our bearings to get back to the lake so I was sent up the hill to see which direction we needed to go. About five minutes later after walking up and over the hill my sister said she heard me screaming and she saw my head pop up from the other side of the Hill. I was running. I was being chased by a bull LMAO. It's really hard to run while you're laughing at the same time. But I live. I'm 38 now and that was one of the funniest things that have ever happened to us in our whole life. Thank U Scotland!

Dude! I clicked on your video thinking this was going to be a slam on the USA and I wanted to see what an outside view thought of us. I was pleasantly surprised at how energetic and full of love you were in recounting some of your experiences. I truly loved your video and how you presented it. We have a lot of problems here in the USA, but it is always nice to hear someone from outside say something nice. I will be watching more of your videos as I feel you are a good guy who just wants to put his experiences and thoughts out there. Great job, sir!

I really like that you approached the cannabis issue so openly. My body is beyond destroyed from my time in the military, and so many people look down on me for using it just so I can forget my pain in my body, and just feel normal. I respect that a lot. For medical use its amazing. My issue with my nephew is how much he and his wife smoke it like it's cigarettes all day long.. they have 2 children/toddlers that rarely get to go outside except when parents are having a joint. I know this isn't necessarily the pot that's the lazy parenting but I smoked it some in younger days and know it's part of the issue as it makes you lazy/tired. Honestly, if they just had one joint a day in evening..I wouldn't take issue at all with how they live.. but like we had family over to our home for pool day when my father died, just so everyone could get outside and eat, visit, allow the children to play, adults to visit, etc. They only stayed an hr cause they had to get home to smoke their weed. They use the excuse the kids need a nap.. but I offered them to put them to bed in the house .. nope.. cause they can't smoke pot at my house they had to get right home.. they literally don't go an hr without pot. Then there's ppl like you whom it helps so much..I have fibromyalgia so I understand if there's something that helps, by all means use as needed and you shouldn't be looked down upon at all. Yet ppl don't look down on us when we take rx drugs that are way worse in side effects and such.

Great Video. Having lived in multiple Countries as well as all around the United States I have to say I have heard your comments or echos of them quite often. People from one country like to compare another country and find so many things they prefer. You like our Fast Food and I like your Toad in the Hole, the Bubble and Squeak and don't even think of getting between me and a Steak Pie. (Yes I have even had Haggis and find it rather nice on a cold day, as long as I have a couple of Pints to wash it down.) You think our wild Animals are great and they are. But then again so are the "Beacons" in the Winter. Oh and Ben Nevis is an incredible climb. (1985) You like our optimism and I like the Scottish Stoicism. You like our Comedies and some of our Drama's. I grew up on "Are you being served" and "Keeping up Appearances". In the 1980's I started watching and still watch the good Doctor. (Yes I am a Whovian.) There are great and wonderful things in each Country and we all are guilty of overlooking them.

Contrasted with say southern California (stationed there with the military) where the sun shines constantly- people are soo much happier there than in New England. It's a strange culture shock, but it turn out to be fairly common difference between the northern states and the sunny south.

From Portland Oregon, speaking of "badass nature" about five years a young bear wandered almost to downtown, and every few months a coyote or even a cougar is spotted in the eastern part of the city (about 10 miles from downtown.) Possibly the reason for that is that the city stops abruptly and the wild starts at the Sandy River. City on one side, farms and forest on the other.

lol I have a large 10 ft deep diving pool. Our road system is better. While in Scotland, I was driving a motorcoach and I cant tell you have many roads I traveled that was one lane with laybys to pull over to if a car comes. Not to mention when it is two lanes there, they are so narrow that you nearly hit passing cars. Parking is better here. Some places there, you have to just park on the road somewhere away and walk to it (which I liked, kept the lazier people away lol). Our junk food has caused a majority percent of citizens to be overweight to the point that the average size of person is an obese size (that companies have now advertised as healthy). I was relieved at how healthy food was cooked in scotland, especially the mac n' cheese dishes. They were great every time I ordered. All your key numbers are pretty spot on. We are a very large country with such diversity and opportunity that optimism is easy here. I want to visit scotland again very soon and we can sit down over coffee and chat about this! UK has stronger coffee by the way.

It is true that an American invented a streaming service that focuses on British tv called BRITBOX. There are many Americans who like to watch imported British dramas especially murder mystery dramas set in England. Many prefer the calm, cold, logical way the British crime detective talk in British crime dramas instead of the loud, passionate shouting in American crime dramas. I think it all come down to being curious about people speaking at a different speed, a different volume and using slightly different words.

Also loved a cooking show with these two women, one who died, and they ended the show by going off on their bike and side car. Forget the name. Loved Nigella Lawson’s cooking show. One morning I forgot to do this, and what ended up happening was this black bear sitting on a boulder we have in the yard looking at me looking at him. Lucky for me, the bear wanted to run as much as I did, so I just slowly backed up and, once he was out of my line of sight, I then ran back in the house :D Some years ago, I also had a family (mama and 3 cubs) of bears who always stopped by the yard every tuesday during the summer. I think they knew it was garbage day in the area. so while mama bear ate left over ice cream she found in the neighbor's garbage, her cubs played on the trees we have in my yard.
