Where do you go to get into the hobby and what is this hobby called? Also, where can you buy the basics to get started?

I think that to get into the hobby, you just have to like and be interested in it. 1 years ago I started to get interested in aviation and today I fly in a simulator, I have 1 flight computer and several books about,you start doing things within your reach in a short time you are fully involved.

@@TheBirdThatKnowsWhatsGood well i mean he is quite literally right step 1) be interested in it 2) learn about it 3) use the knowledge learned. What you need to learn first is how to make a proper floatable frame or model boat google model boat making. Then you need to learn how to put an RC motor and propeller system into the boat. Then you need to learn how to make an air cannon for the boat. I would imagine the firing component of a lot of high power airsoft rifles disassembled and built into the boat would work. all the way to step 5) Put it all together and tweak it until you have a boat that controls how you like and use the knowledge you continue learning to advance it into better aiming and calibration and of course a cool design

As other have asked, I am too extremely interested in getting into this hobby. Is there a site or channel where I can go to learn about the boats and cannons and their construction? Thanks!

You could make a video about the architecture behind these model ships, where the machinery goes, what materials to use etc.... Let's *submarine* please :)

As for hull repair, I believe they just put masking tape over the holes mid day and when the day is over the wooden panels now looking like taped up swiss cheese are simply just swapped out with fresh ones.

Great question, I'll add it to my list. For now though, here ya go. At the pond, I patch holes with masking tape or tissue paper. Once a ship is holey enough, I strip the old armor off and replace it in a process called "resheeting". Depending on how much damage I take, this could be once per year, or as much as three times per year. Resheeting a few ships usually takes me one weekend to complete. As for superstructure, this particular ship got a new superstructure about a year ago, primarily to reduce weight and improve stability. At the rate I'm going, it'll get replaced again in another couple years. Larger ships have the displacement to use tougher materials, so they can be virtually indestructible.

Looks like Spanish American War cruisers like the Olympia based on the paint scheme. Always wanted to head to Philadelphia to visit that ship.

This is onboard SMS Schlesien, a German predreadnought. She is painted in East Asia Squadron colors, not because it's historical but because it looks so **** good.

Depends on how you choose to get in to it, ie: making your own hull from scratch or buying a kit online, I bought a kit online when I was a teenager for about $600 which included a full fiberglass hull with gel coating, decking, foam superstructure and resin molds for the turrets and some tubing, but completely un-assembled and zero electronics or firing mechanisms

What type of shells this RC boat uses? Is she armored and with what kind of material is her built? I know they are a lot of questions but i just discovered this and I am soo curious

The hobby is called RC ship combat, they're shooting steel BBs of various sizes based on the class of ship, it's being shot by compressed CO2 and uses pretty common RC components to propel the ship

How do you repair the Hull and dise it get to a point where you have to bin it?

Imagine the BBs exploding once penetrated or hit the water or ship I understand this isnt an option since it will cause to much damage to maybe expensive parts.. but would be a fun thing to watch and experience

Take a look around for the Australian Battle Group. They are active in many parts of the country and have regular local battles and an annual national meet.

@@7r47ufchfyw7twguwgu Most combat clubs have been hard-hit by economy, pandemic, etc. in the past few years and their web presence has significantly reduced. Some clubs have ceased activity but most are still battling, just without as much online activity. Your best bet right now is to visit the R/C warship combat forum and see if you can contact any Australians there. I know the national organization still exists, but I don't know about the Victoria branch in particular.

Are there rules about armor? What's stopping you from making something like old Ironsides makings impenetrable from the BBs??
