We know the ears and gloves were from Finger, but Finger never described changing the boots from Kane's design. As Finger (and Kane when he was being humble)'s descriptions are so vague it is hard to tell who actually came up with what part of the costume. Mostly we know that Kane's original design had no bat ears, visible pupils, a domino mask, no gloves, wings from a DaVinci sketch, and he looked "an awful lot like Superman."

@@Scrinwaipwr We have no pre-Finger Batman drawings by Bob Kane. Finger said the costume was "reddish." I really wish he was not vague. Does that mean red highlights? Red all the way? Dark red? red symbol?

Harleen Quinzel being assigned to be Bruce Wayne's shrink? If that's not a nod to Batman helping her get out from under Joker in other continuities, I don't know what is.

I like a technologically minimalist approach to Batman where he is simply wearing a cloth material like costume as opposed to armor. It emphasizes his Skillsets framed as his superpowers as how he functions as a superhero. The World's Greatest Detective And The World's Greatest Ninja all in one and that's Batman. Meat and potatoes.

Conroy talking about how his batman/Bruce split was directly inspired by him being out to some/closeted after facing Homophobia in the industry was what made it real

Thank you for showing James Tucker some love!!! I keep seeing Timm, Reeves and JJ Abrams only because of the trailer! You can see Tucker's art style from Batman the Brave and the Bold infused in here. In my opinion it's the curviness of the characters over Timm's boxiness (not that boxy is bad) and idk the colors are a bit more vibrant and have more contrast. I think Tucker hinted in the Caped Crusader announcements Fandom clip that Bruce would go straight up black and white/sepia tonelike the 75th Hugo Strange clip of had his way lol not that there's anything wrong with that. Though the last piece with Timm's art style, The Phantom Stranger meets Charies Manson basically... The colors were pretty vibrant...

I have high hopes for this show, it honestly looks amazing. I'm sure Linklater will do a great job as Batman :)

A little fun fact for ya is that Batman (and Superman) was heavily inspired by Douglas Fairbanks, Sr.'s performance in the 1920 _The Mark of Zorro_ where Diego's civilian persona is extremely foppish. _This_ actually originates with Baroness Orczy's _The Scarlet Pimpernel_ which easily might be the original, original masked vigilante. In addition, I wanted to point out the Alfred here is shorter and round. Now, any person could say that takes inspiration from the original comic version dubbed Alfred Beagle, but any who did would be leaving out that the true original Alfred actually does come from the 1943 serial where Alfred (no surname given) is tall, slim gent. Why then did he appear in comics prior to the serial's release? Because even though the role of a butler character named Alfred had been invented, the actor had not yet been casted thus either Alfred could arguably be the 'first' one. I'm just hoping we see something similar to the original bat's cave from the same serial; the giant bat hung on the rock interior is a thing from nightmares.

Batman is back! And I can't wait to see The Caped Crusader Show! Batman is definitely a legend to all of us! When I heard his voice while watching the trailer, I was definitely happy about it because he sounded so amazing! It definitely reminded me of Kevin Conroy's voice a little bit.🤩😁🦇🌃

Now I want to see a Superman show, in a similar vain to the Fleischer Cartoons. But WB would probably write it off for taxes, like they tried to do with this series.

Great video. I'm so psyched about this series! August 1st can't come soon enough. Beware the Batman was an underappreciated show. Glad you gave it a shout-out. Also, I'm glad you mentioned Batman: Ego, which I read about a month ago and really enjoyed. I would love to see an adaptation of that as an episode in this series.

Hopefully Two-Face only becomes a thing in the final episode of this first series but is a big thing for the finalé and goes on to stay a big deal in series 2.

I have begged for a series like this. More Batman being a detective, working against the corruption in his city. I love it when Batman isn't super, he's talented, intelligent, and a skilled martial artist but he shouldn't be this larger than life super hero like Superman, simply because he works best a very strong wounded man who decided to do something because that status quo makes it impossible to get justice in the system.

You can't do EGO without Dick Grayson Robin. The whole reason is 1 Batman hasn't killed the Joker and 2 he brought a sidekick a child (who was going to be a vigilante even if Batman said no. So Batman protected his new adopted son and made him his sidekick)

Hey saw you ask someone about a comic that could be adapted my mind first that could fit in a Batman only setting is Batman: The Knight where Bruce... has a deep relationship with Anton Knight and it falls apart over Wayne's No Kill Rule. The othrr thing that comes to mind is the Sandman tie in episode proposed for BTAS as described by Watchtower Database. Thought it has a small role for Robin it could be refitted for Catwoman quite honestly. Sandman ties in with other DC properties and now they don't have to worry about scaring us.

Well, if they're gonna do Neil Gaiman's Sandman, will it be a crossover with the comics iteration or the Netflix live action iteration?

We're so used to seeing Batman in current time with all the depictions in movies, animation, video games as somewhere in the late 90's to present with all kinds of technology at his disposal. To bring this character back to his roots, back to a very limited technology world of the Great Depression, would put a creative straight jacket on the writers.

Bruce here gives us fans exactly what we wanted… a noir ish hard hitting borderline psychotic Batman on his own, no sidekicks, no Joker and what looks like mostly night action and one mean Batmobile!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I’m going to be honest. What they’ve said about Batman is why I’m not actively exited for the show. I’m very curious but I’m just tired of this idea of “make Batman darker!” In almost every new adaptation they always say he’s a cold vengeful man. I know that it leaves him room to grow that’s fine but I just miss when as Waller puts it in jlu “no one cares for his fellow man more than Bruce Wayne.” I miss when Batman was a dark knight a compassionate protector not a cold vengeance filled knight.

I'm definitely going to binge it as soon as I'm able. Probably the weekend of the week it releases.

Sadly that seemed to be wishful thinking. Bruce Timm came out of hibernation to post on a forum he used to frequent to say that Kevin wasn't able to record any lines for the show.

0:48: Doesn't sound as different as The Batman 2004, until the gadgets absence bit. 0:57: Probably because the times are more fit for a Justice Society. Hmm, the idea of this Batsy being a bit nutsy on his true Batman self brings into mind a lotta LEGO Batman works. 3:20: A move that miffs fans to this day. 4:30: Alfred's suggestion, hmm? 5:19: We'll see how that goes. 7:21: Makes for a strangely dull world though. Batman being the only superhero in the entire CC Earth just feels weird... if the likes of Green Lantern Alan Scott aren't allowed, why not keep the likes of Muggles like Green Arrow and Wildcat in implied subtlety? 7:39: Best bet's at least 52 eps. A 100 eps is very unlikely nowadays.

This is Gonna be interesting, I was born with Two Batman series the Brave and the bold and Beware the Batman This will be the Third one (too bad there isn’t for the Italian Dub Marco Balzarotti For Batman but also love the New Actor and looking Forward to the English Dub) my one Last hope that there will not be the Joker in this Series (a lot of other Batman rogues Deserves the Spotlight like Gentleman Ghost,Ratcatcher, Great white Shark Etc Etc Etc…) or at least not in the First season. No worries, and not to defend Bob Kane (grifter that he was!) but Bill Finger provided feedback on Bob's original design, rather than actually designing the costume himself. Bob Kane still interpreted his suggestions and put them to paper. I think I was also indirectly quoting Bruce Timm when referring to it as the Bob Kane design, but all those interviews blur together in my head.

@@SerumLake it’s like learning Conan Doyle didn’t create James Bond- it’s just long, known fact that Bob Kane = Batman- it’s like the controversy with Stan Lee and his illustrators- there’s so much grey area with these characters- who made what and where one design started and where it ends. Love the channel- I look forward to every episode. I’m more excited about more serumlake with the addition of cape crusader.

I think it's to indicate that it's Harvey Dent that's the bad person, not his new scarred personality (if he even has a split personality)

As a secondary hero, Batman, I think question would be good or green arrow

Clowder industries, cute they have it as the backdrop for the Catwoman chase scene

The way the describe Bruce's relationship with Catwoman reminds me a lot of his relationship with Andrea in Mask of The Phantasm, where Bruce nearly considers giving up Batman to be happy and live a life outside his mission. But I guess that's how these two Batmen are different. BTAS Bruce still had his humanity and a drive to do good with our without the mask on. CC Bruce doesn't have anything other than Batman, so to lose that means he would have nothing...

I know where you're coming from, and believe me, I don't like coming across like I'm defending Bob Kane, but he was the one that took Bill Finger's feedback about the costume and drew it. In the IGN interview with Bruce Timm and James Tucker, the costume is referred to as being inspired by Bob Kane's work (insert joke about paying other people to do all the work for them and pass it off as their own)

7:25 If they do introduxe a new hero I'd quite like to see Green Arrow; this show seems light on the superpowers (though they aren't absent with Clayface, Nocturna and Gentleman Ghost) making GA fit well. If Batman continues to go through lots of introspection, Green Arrow might prove an onteresting character for Batman to compare himself too, given their similar backstories. There's also a potentially interesting dynamic there with Onomatopoeia. If the show does get more super powered though, any of the Green Lanterns might be cool other heroes.

Ya not every super hero needs a connected universe- it’s okay to do this as a single character story.

I wonder how much inspiration they took from The Batman live action movie. Pattinsons Batman was certainly not mentally well and Batman was his real persona

I never realised it has been 10 years since Beware the Batman aired. As for the new version in Caped Crusader he sounds too similar to every other version of "young" Batman we have seen before in other media. Arkham Origins, Beware the Batman, Batman year 1 and other retelling of the same story. I know execution is important but if the execution is the same tale just told differently what is the point? I do not mean to be negative but the more I think about Caped Crusader the more weary of it I become.

I want to see green arrow in this world

I love the idea of batmans parents not being the cause of his problems, but rather the lack of control for a spoiled rich kid. Keep In mind lack of control is what causes PTSD

One thing that has really turned me off to Batman for a while now is the urge that so many writers have to top each other in showing that their version is more broken and mentally unstable than the last guy's. No thanks. I understand that he's obsessive and that's part of what makes him interesting. But while there's clearly an audience for what they're doing, I am not part of it.

I find the angle of Bruce being the mask, and Batman being the real persona a tad bit cliche and on the nose. Personally, I view both Bruce and Batman as oposite extremes, with the real persona being somewhere in between. Both Bruce and Batman have to put on a performance for their respective company, whereas BatBruce in private can be himself. Also, I hope the greater DC universe stays out of this new show. I'm not a fan of supernatural characters like Superman and Wonderwoman existing in Batman's world; and I wish DC would make two universes to seperate the grounded characters (Batman, Green Arrow, etc.) from the unnatural characters (Flash, Aquaman, etc.), in a similar fashion as with Earth 1 and Earth 2.

I think if there more episodes than they would bring robin into the fold

Yeah, I’m a little concerned about changes in the depiction of Harlequin. It seems like a bit much for a 1940/50s depiction of Batman. I am thrilled with a 1940s/50s Batman but am not even one bit interested in overlaying “modern sensibility’s” 40s.

I didn't like how what they did to Harley. Quinn and Jim Gordon, they sure just left them alone I feel like we don't need any race swapping I just think that we have to have every character.Be re-imagined in some different way.I just think that's really ridiculous.If you want characters, make even make new characters.Or just or take or just add some characters.I just this is the only thing I just do not like about it

What do we know? Cheap shitty animation and mediocre at best writing. Seems like all their budget went into drawing posters.
