'cause in the beginning they refer to themself as a lone wolf in a metal music scene.. you can look at their cover album... there is a wolf... their song Nameless Warrior ( tribute to their ex-founder, leader and bass player - Miho )... there is a wolf running which is symbol for LOVEBITES that they will keep on going... this song is a last song they record together... The more you dig about LOVEBITES.. the more you will understand.. The fan itself call them Alpha.. and the fan is Wolfpack.. amazingly they notice about that....

@grantnealon5101 , sorry for not getting back sooner. For whatever reason, youtube doesn't notify me 🤔. The 80s was a great period with the likes of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Motorhead, Girlschool and Black Sabbath to name a few! I find lovebites to be the Holy Grail from that period. When you talked about their numbers on youtube, their numbers on Spotify are low also, 34k at last count! It is something I do not understand. Maybe it is a niche market, who knows. It looks like we have seen a lot between us over the decades 😊. They were the best times and have a band such as this reviving the era, it pure joy!! 😎🤟

The rabbit hole of Japanese female metal and hard rock is wide and deep...like Grand Canyon deep! Lovebites are one of the very best (my personal favorite is Nemophila, another outfit with insane technical chops plus buckets of rockstar charisma), but there are SO many others. A partial metal list (which doesn't even include "co-ed" bands or the male end of J-metal): Hanabie, Ark Royal, Bridear, Hagane, Aldious, Orochi/RagDollz, Full Moon, TELECiDE, Doll$Boxx, Fate Gear, Pinkish Crown, Moth in Lilac, Little Lilith, Lonesome Blue, Empress, Paradoxx, and more, plus some "metal alt-idols" like massive superstars Babymetal, along with Necronomidol, Broken by the Scream, and Xteen. Hard rock? Band-Maid, Gacharic Spin, TRiDeNT, Whiskey Dust, Market Shop Store, and more. Dive in!

Welcome to the Wolfpack, Sue! It was wonderful to watch your reaction as you discover what a lot of us feel is one of the best metal bands around today! This is their first single off of their new release, with their new bassist Fami. Asami is the vocalist, and she is incredible in a band full of multi-talented incredible musicians. Stand & Deliver (Shoot 'em Down) is another new one from the ladies, and it's vintage thrash metal. Check out Edge of the World (live) and Swan Song (live with Chopin intro) for some comparison and contrast and to see their range. They are just as good live, as they are in MV's!

Welcome to the world of Lovebites and Japanese rock/metal in general. As has been mentioned, there are many great Japanese bands to discover, and quite a few of them are all female bands. The band that got me into the Japanese rock/metal scene is Band-Maid (also all female) who I saw live in Dallas this past October. Another great all female band is Nemophila and I will be seeing them live in less than a month. I am waiting for the day that Lovebites announces a tour of the US. Other bands I would love to see live are Gacharic Spin (all female), Unlucky Morpheus and Asterism (an incredible trio). With the departure of Miho, bassist and band founder, in August 2021, the vocalist Asami went from primary lyricist to the sole lyricist for Lovebites. All lyrics are in English. Asami and the muscular guitarist Midori speak English pretty well. The other guitarist Miyako can speak some English while the drummer Haruna and the new bassist Fami know very little (I don't think I have ever heard the latter two speak English). Asami grew up as a ballet dancer and lived in the US for a short time to learn other styles of dance including hip hop which I would love to see sometime. When she returned to Japan, her focus shifted to singing. She began singing R&B and Soul songs in English, and also worked as a backing vocalist. It was only when she started preparing for her audition with the newly formed Lovebites, that she discovered she had such a strong belting voice that is required to front a metal band. In the last several years Asami has been working with a Japanese American vocalist named Ayako Kawai who moved to Tokyo specifically to help Japanese vocalists in singing English lyrics. She also assists Asami with better English diction in writing English lyrics. Asami's hard work since joining the band has resulted in the amazing performance you just heard from her in the song Judgment Day.

@@playitagainsue Asami not only wrote the lyrics to this song, she cowrote the music. The most impressive member of the band is Miyako. She is a world class guitarist, world class pianist and world class composer. She has been involved in composing almost half of the Lovebites catalog, all but a few of them as a solo composer. There are several songs that highlight her skill on the piano but the best is Swan Song which she composed. In a live version she plays a Chopin intro before the actual song begins. You can see how Asami (Vo), formerly an R&B and Soul singer, has transformed herself in a Japanese heavy metal band. Since the First Reaction music was a little too fast in BPM, we recommend the following slower music. LOVEBITES has uploaded the second music video from their new album. "LOVEBITES" / Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'em Down) Asami(Vo) Miyako(G - Key ‐ Piano Black hair) Midori(G) Haruna(Dr) Miho(Ba) First bassist New bassist from 'JUDGEMENT DAY' songs. Fami(Ba) New bassist

Japan´s have "all female bands" from years ago. Some of the most famous starts in the 80 and some of them... are still active. One of the first female metal band and the most famous was Show-ya. Still active. Another famous band, this time punk-rock is Shonen Knife, again still active. Along the years, Japan has produced a lot of all-female bands, lot of them with really high quality. Even now they have a strong rock and metal scene. Names like Nemophila, Destrose, Stereopony, Mary´s Blood, Doll$Dox, Bridear, Fate-Gear, Aldious and a lot more. "Cute dress and Heavy Metal" is not a novelty, Aldious was doing this for years (and still do it). Rock bands like Band Maid, Scandal, Gacharic Spin, Chai, and the list goes on. And i´m talking only all female bands. If you add the male bands and the mixed ones, the list is really huge. Of course the main problems is... japanese. All of them sings almost everything in japanese. Lovebites is a big exception singing in english. Japan´s rabbit hole is really deep. And Lovebites... this song is from their 4th album, on sale this month. They starts in 2016 with some of the members of Destrose when they disband. Some bands are playing for more than a decade, some even more, even more than 40 years. Just see those ladies kzread.info/dash/bejne/aHqMxM-cpNPYkbw.html They arent "young girls" anymore, but they still rocks. From years ago, there´s a concert every year in Tokyo only for all-femala bands, produced by those ladies.

Thanks for the reaction! LOVEBITES are the GODDESSES of heavy metal ! In 2018 , LOVEBITES won the prestigious Metal Hammer GOLDEN GODS Award for "Best New Band" (London,UK). The winners of the GOLDEN GODS Award in different years and in various categories were such famous bands and musicians, such as : Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Zakk Wylde, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Slayer, Saxon, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy (and this is not a complete list). LOVEBITES is a Japanese all-female heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by former Japanese heavy metal band DESTROSE members Miho( bass, backing vocals) and Haruna(drums). The band has successfully performed at various major international rock-festivals many times .In the spring of 2018, LOVEBITES performed on the Japanese leg of the Warped Tour. In August 2018, they performed at Wacken Open Air (Germany), becoming the first Japanese all-female rock band to perform at the festival. Also in August 2018 they performed on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air (UK). In 2019, LOVEBITES performed at the Download Festival in Donington (UK) and Download Festival in Madrid (Spain). Their performance in Donington was named by the festival organizers and Metal Hammer magazine as one of the highlights of the festival! In the same year they performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) and the Summer Sonic Festival (Japan). Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic that began in 2020 prevents LOVEBITES from performing at festivals and forced a drastic reduction of concerts. LOVEBITES is a phenomenal band, all the ladies are talented musicians! They have recorded about 60 original songs and all the songs are very good ! 🐺Miho - bass, backing vocals (in August 2021 she left the band). 🐺Haruna - drums. 🐺Midori - guitars, backing vocals. 🐺Miyako (Mi-Ya)- guitars, piano, keyboards, backing vocals. 🐺Asami - lead vocals, piano. 🐺Fami - bass, backing vocals(since October 2022). 🐺Miho has been playing the piano since the age of 5. She started playing the bass guitar at school. Great bass player! The fact that such a wonderful band appeared is, first of all, the merit of Miho. She came up with the idea of starting a band and what kind of music the band would play. It's a mix of power metal and "old school" heavy metal (New Wave of British Heavy Metal). Miho brought these talented ladies together in LOVEBITES. 🐺Haruna has played drums since she was thirteen years old, she also plays keyboards. Haruna is the smallest (4 '9 ") , but appearances are deceiving. When Haruna sits down at the drums, this is the "little BIG Engine." She is one of the best drummers in Japan. 🐺Midori (blond hair) has been playing the piano since she was two years old and the electric organ since she was eight. She started studying guitar at the age of 20. Super guitarist, "Crazy Shredder". She surpasses many male guitarists in speed and technique of playing the guitar. Graduated from ESP / MI JAPAN ( Osaka ) , GIT-DX department (superfast guitar department). ESP / MI JAPAN is an International Music Institute , headquartered in Hollywood, California, USA. 🐺Miyako (black hair) has been playing the piano since the age of three, received a classical education (piano) and wanted to pursue a career as a pianist. She has been playing the guitar since the age of 18. Super guitarist! They call her "The Golden Touch" and she is a real musical genius. Miyako is the main composer of the band, she wrote 50% of the music. * In terms of teamwork , synchronization / harmonization of guitars , Midori and Miyako today are perhaps the best pair of guitarists in the world playing metal. One music critic said that two guitarists of this level (Midori and Miyako) in the same band is a crime!😊 🐺Asami started with R&B and soul music . She studied classical ballet for about 16 years (this is noticeable in her movements on stage, especially the movements of her hands). Started ballet lessons at the age of two. After leaving school, Asami lived for some time in the US, where she came to study jazz and hip hop dance. Plays the piano. Asami wrote most of the lyrics of the band's songs. 🐺Fami is 20 years old, plays bass, keyboards, guitar, writes songs, sings. She has already released her solo album, which she dedicated to graduating from school. Despite his youth, Fami has experience of collaboration with famous musicians.. All songs LOVEBITES are written in English. Unlike other metal bands, LOVEBITES are always on stage in white dresses . White dresses are their style. The Wolf is the mascot of LOVEBITES and is featured on all band's albums except the first EP "The Lovebites". The band's fans call themselves the 🐺Wolfpack🐺

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” kzread.info/dash/bejne/n2epqcypXbOddKw.html The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” kzread.info/dash/bejne/a22u1apvmarFZsY.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” kzread.info/dash/bejne/oXyiral-mpSpfcY.html, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzread.info/dash/bejne/paBkj7dmqc6wc7g.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzread.info/dash/bejne/noycwdeGfZyamrg.html; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” kzread.info/dash/bejne/c5ls0rOPpZC4fps.html; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJt12tJ-oKjJntI.html Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXac1tOgmburcZc.html. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4SXkrqEYM-0nbg.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y62i0Lp9lqjUnrw.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKah0c6nZarepdY.html This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" kzread.info/dash/bejne/moB6x86CaZa8m7A.html "Glory to the World" kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6t-1qZriKi-eJc.html "Winds of Transylvania" kzread.info/dash/bejne/eqd5lrebj7PQmJs.html. You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

To be honest, when it comes to Rock and the classic rock sound in Japan the ladies seem to rule the roost. You have obviously Lovebites, also Band Maid and Nemophila who have a large international following. Gacharic Spin "Mindset" being the song that blew up internationally. Hanabie relatively new but came in with a bang from single one. Also, Telecide, Dollsbox (Both sadly disbanded) Bridear, Mary's Blood. Then the female fronted bands like Unlucky Morpheous and Mardelas. I could list numerous but the ends of my fingers would go flat. All I can say is, if you wish to check out the Japanese rock seen will you not be disappointed with the quality of the musical talent on show. Enjoy your journey, if you care to take it. I see some others have mentioned other Japanese bands. Here is a short guide with links: You want more girl metal bands? Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. There are hundreds of all-female or female-led bands, and a lot of them are bona-fide monsters. Here are a few you should really check out: Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They belong in any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” kzread.info/dash/bejne/oX6Tl6mvY9msmrQ.html Aldious (2008 Glamorous and kick-ass rockers-one of the first generation all-girl metal bands, along with Destrose) kzread.info/dash/bejne/pZqfrLZpotXHXZs.html Band-Maid (2013 OK, there are 130+ great songs by them. @@playitagainsue They're all female too. There are a number of great all female bands out of Japan, I think you'll like them. For Band Maid everyone listens to THRILL first because it's their first video that saved the band's recording deal. For the newest thing, check out FROM NOW ON to see how far they've come (it's an instrumental but they still have their vocalist). Another thing, the new bass player plays on this video but if you want to watch them live watch SET THE WORLD ON FIRE for starters. With Band Maid you can watch anything live. They're both really great live bands and you might think they're even better live than the MVS. Have fun. This was the first video from LOVEBITES' fourth studio album. It's also the first video with their new bass guitarist, 20 year old phenom who goes by the stage name Fami (no clue what her real name is). LOVEBITES was the second of three Japanese female five-piece bands I discovered a few years ago. The first was the great BAND-MAID and the third was Nemophila. All three have different styles, but all three are worth taking a look at. For LOVEBITES, I'd recommend their newest video, "Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'Em Down)", for Nemophila I'd recommend their video for "Revive," and for BAND-MAID, I'd recommend the live version of "Play." Japan has some *_great_* rock and metal bands.

Yup, metal has officially moved to Japan and is quite happy there. 😋 LOVEBITES = 5 virtuosos in the relentless quest for PERFECTION. I think you said you're a casual listener of metal; another example of how infectious these ladies are. They suck you in, regardless of the music genre, because their music sounds so wonderful. I am a huge metal fan, have been for 35yrs, seen many of the greats from the 80s live (including Maiden x2, and Bruce Dickinson is his name!), and none of those bands measure up to these 5 ladies (imho). I listen to them pretty much 24x7. The talent in this band is mind-numbing. Presume you'll do Stand And Deliver MV next rightfully so (tip: turn on cc if you want to see lyrics, this song had it to). After that I strongly recommend A Frozen Serenade live 2021 kzread.info/dash/bejne/c5ls0rOPpZC4fps.html. A slower 80s-like MASTERPIECE with a nice surprise in the middle that is unforgettable. You have stumbled by chance upon one of the best metal bands on the planet. The name of Lovebites' fandom is "the Wolfpack"; so on behalf of the Wolfpack, welcome to Lovebites! To answer your question first, yes, they are a metal band, they want to be a metal band, and they always play metal. That said, not all metal is as fast as this song, and Lovebites span a spectrum from classical 80s metal à la Iron Maiden, which was a big influence on them early on, to thrash metal à la Metallica, and increasingly and especially on their last and and on this new album (this song is the title track) to power metal à la Halloween, Dragonforce, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica etc. (If you're not familiar with the term, power metal is a fast, melodic, virtuosic, mostly upbeat subgenre of metal that has mostly developed in Europe, South America and Japan starting from the late 1980s.) Lovebites also have a few hard rock/glam rock/soul influenced songs, and a few ballads, but their mainstay has become a (comparatively very heavy and fast and thrashy) form of power metal as of this album. Lovebites were founded in Tokyo in 2016. You wanted to know the name of the singer. Here is a list of the current lineup. Since the Japanese guard their privacy very tightly, we know only odds and ends about the members, and for two of them we don't even know the full or real name. Vocals - Asami (no family name known). Used to be an R'n'B club singer and rock backup singer before being invited to sing for Lovebites; she did not have any prior experience in metal. Seeing her in Lovebites, while she has taken her new role seriously from the start and has always done her best, over the years she seems to have become increasingly comfortable in her new skin, so to speak, and now even writes maybe a third of the music (and all lyrics), and her output is among their heaviest stuff. Her voice, while always good, is really, really superb on this new album too. Trivia facts: she studied ballet and spent some months in L.A. to learn hip hop dance; her English is not perfect, but for a Japanese person better than expected; she is one of the two more fluent ones in the band, the other one being Midori. She got married in 2021 and had a daughter in the summer of 2022, one of two young mothers in the band. Guitar (blonde) - Midori (full name Midori Tatematsu). Used to play in a somewhat anarchic Metalcore band called Gekijo Metalicche before Lovebites, but her musical tastes include everything, from metal to Bruno Mars and from deathcore to gospel. (Black gospel music that she heard on a trip to the states prompted her to write the Lovebites song "Glory to the World".) She doesn't seem to write much music; to date, she has written two Lovebites songs and co-written another ("We Are The Resurrection", the opener of the new album). Trivia fact: She has taken up bodybuilding since the pandemic, runs in Japanese competitions, and recently made 2nd place somewhere. You saw her guns. Besides the fact that when she was 20 or so, she quit studying pharmacy to enroll at a prestigious Osaka music college, nothing whatever is known about her private life. Oh yes: she started to learn the piano at age 2. Guitar (brunette) - Miyako (full name Miyako Watanabe). She is a classically trained pianist as well, plays keyboards on the studio recordings, and will occasionally throw in a Chopin étude at a Lovebites gig. She started to learn the piano at 3 and through her mother's tastes grew up on Deep Purple and Rainbow. Before Lovebites, she played in a rock/metalcore band called A Drop Of Joker and in a melodic hard rock band called 21g (21 grams, the weight of the soul according to an urban myth), which was fairly well known in Japan. She writes close to half of Lovebites songs and also arranges them together with their producer, Mao. Trivia facts: she is a huge Star Wars geek and has a cute little white dog called Wampa, after the yeti monster in The Empire Strikes Back; she married in 2021 and had a child as well in fall 2021, sex unknown. In their most recent live footage from 2021, she is four months pregnant. She is originally from Osaka. Bass - Fami (real name not known). Is only 20 years old and a sophomore in college. She has her own KZread channel and became fairly well known on Japanese KZread for her bass covers of J-pop hits (over 600,000 followers). She even published a first EP, "Graduation Album" (Japanese: Sotugyou Arubumu) about her memories of highschool, which is in a Latin/funk-infused pop style, very bubbly, very upbeat, very charming, very good songs. (I bought it in download form, and it is a great morning-before-work record.) She replaced former bassist Miho (full name: Miho Rosana) in an open three-round casting held in spring and summer last year and so is brand new. There is a short video about the casting (with subtitles) available here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYp2k5ulpJapfqw.html. (Miho had quit in August 2021 and was one of the founding members and most prolific contributors in their early years.) Trivia fact: Fami named herself Fami for what she thought would be a throwaway Twitter account after Family Mart, a Japanese convenience store chain that she liked, and the alias stuck when she became better known, the only musician I know named after a convenience store. Drums - Haruna (full name Haruna Yosai). Was one of the founding members together with Miho, with whom she had played in one of the earliest all-female Japanese metal bands, called Destrose ("Destructive Rose"). Destrose never really went anywhere because of multiple lineup changes, but those lineup changes meant that half the female metal scene in Japan has some form of connection to that band; it has spawned such bands as Mary's Blood (from which came Nemophila, who are also getting well known at this point even in the US), Lovebites, Fate Gear, Mardelas and recently Lonesome_Blue (for whom Asami has written some lyrics and who also sing almost exclusively in English). Trivia fact: Haruna is only 4'9" and is nicknamed "Little Big Engine" or "Pocket Nuke". Many Wolfpack members will show up and give you their personal recommendations, but really all 60 or so songs of their repertoire (four full albums, three EPs) are great. As I said, one of the best metal bands on the planet. But a fun song for your next reaction might be the second video off their new album, a song called "Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)", where you will see an entirely other side of the band. If you want a softer song, try "Empty Daydream" from their second album, still with their old bassist. Stand and Deliver: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zn2hqaNwk7PfotY.html Empty Daydream (live): kzread.info/dash/bejne/noycwdeGfZyamrg.html

@@playitagainsue, to be honest, nobody knows why she left the band. Some people say that it was because she still was depressed by her father’s death, but neither Miho nor the management said anything specific; so everything about this issue is just speculation. We their fans were really in shock with the announcement of her departure. The band went into hiatus for about a year and a half, and at the beginning of this situation some people speculated that the band might break up. They make SONGS, if you know what I mean! 😀 From "Nemophila", I would recommend you (for start) song "Adabana" (one of my favorites) but as I said, you could check any song!

I see the Beatles' "White Album" is on the shelf behind you. Then this Lovebites song is probably the first heavy metal song you've heard since "Helter Skelter" in 1968?😂
