I think I’ve seen reveals where parents who don’t really like blue or pink will assign different colors for the dust/confetti/etc. Like green for boy and purple for girls. So maybe this is that. Told everyone ahead of time that if it’s purple it’d be x and if it was a different color it’d be y.

OMG, wait. What if... purple was meant to signify the baby is nonbinary! If not, then it needs to be so 😄 I imagine parents going into the color powder store being like, "Actually, pink and blue don't work for us. We're not gonna assign our baby a binary gender, so we'll take the purple powder instead" and then proceed to powder bomb innocent people at their gender reveal parties 😂😂😂

Actually though I do feel like purple means we are not going to assign their gender based on their sex we are just having a happy healthy baby OK, but I also have an issue with the gender reveal parties when people get so crazy with them like just have a cake and when you cut it open it has batter that's dyed a particular colour like honestly 😂😂

Instead of having gender reveal, them and their partner has to have a whole workshop on "How To Deal With A Child I Don't Know The Genitalia Of" including such classes as "but what do I call him... her... it? I can't call my grand niece an it!" (Call the baby by their name. Problem solved.) "How will I know what kind of toys to buy them?" (What do you mean? Just buy toys they like. If they like Dolls, get them dolls, if they like trains, get them trains. Whatever, they're kids toys, they should be appropriate for any child.) For such an innocent request, you would have thought based on many of our relatives' responses, that they might as well have set fire to half of California.

But if they don't assign the baby a gender, the gender reveal becomes meaningless...

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out when my dad said "That's hotter than a fired pistol" what he actually meant was, "Don't burn your boobs with that".

The only reason I could think for purple is if it's twins on the way. Pink for girls, blue for boys, purple for one of each...

It took me too long to understand the time ma-screen pun.
