The Radiants were afraid they would knock Roshar off it's rocker, because Ishar did.

    When they released the Way of Kings leather bound, they talked about putting in sketches reminiscent of Gustav Doré’s woodcuts for the Bible, Paradise Lost, and the Divine Comedy. Ever since then I’ve taken those as established sources of inspiration, not just my interpretation.

    First time viewer. I am often very critical.. but I don’t want to sound negative lol. I’m not sure how new your channel is. It doesn’t seem quite as established as most of the book tubers I tune in to. But it seems like you’ve got a solid foundation. I just wanted to take a moment and say I am impressed with your presentation. I truly found it beneficial.. I am just returning now to catch up on cosmere novellas I missed. Had been away for awhile. Anyway. Going to subscribe. I have thought about how wonderful it would be.. to something like Daniel Greene does. If this is something you enjoy- I encourage you to push forward and grow. I do think you have what it takes to cultivate a really interesting channel. (I’ve just had surgery and am laid up.. I don’t typically get up in strangers business online. I feel a little awkward I think.. hitting ‘comment’) again. Appreciate it

    Consider this. The multiple levels of bonds are stacked on top of each other. Base level, the Trap: whatever Honer did to bind Odium to the Roshar system. Level 2, the oath pact: It is an extension of the trap binding Odium extended. Using the cognitive shadows of Honer to bind the cognitive shadows of Odium. The heralds and the fused. Level 3, the Nahel bond and the ordering of the surge binders: the spren imitated the Honorblades, perhaps using the same mechanics that allowed investiture to become blades, ting them into the Oathpact. If not already, the ordering of the surge binders, assigning spren and surge to each other did the trick. Level 4, mishrams prison. We know from the sample chapter that she is trapped in the spiritual realm. What if her prison is an extension of the chains that bind gods and men, the nahel bond. Her prison could be made from the living ideal, a spiritual realm equivalent to spren. The living oaths of radiants. Creating the prison interfered with the nahel bond causing the spren to become stuck in the deadeye form. Surgebinding could damage the prison, not only freeing mishram but causing a cascade failiur in all levels, even freeing odium. Hence Nalans anti surge binder crusade. Bonus theory. If I’m right freeing mishram or destroying her prison will result in all deadeyes spreen resuming normal form.

    I followed until level 4. It’s not clear to me how a prison made of an ideal would sever connection. But It’s not yet clear how any mechanism would do what was apparently done (besides aluminum foil)

    @@MeMySkirtandI I don’t think a severs connection is the problem. I think the deadeye state is an in-between state the spren bot trapped in. a transition for one state to another in the process of unbinding, caused by a flaw in the whole structure of the Oaths. A flaw introduced by the creation of mishrams prison. The effect could be compand to the way elantrians got stuck in an in-between state when their transformation/transition mechanism had its flaw interfere.

    I really enjoy your videos. I do have to wonder though, if she is the spren of desolation, why would so many singers, their entire race, bond themselves to her? (In my mind I consider the slave form that all singers got trapped in to be a result of an unfulfilled oath- though I’m currently unable to explain why it would be hereditary?! Perhaps something something stormlight 5 previews - spiritual realm prison?) I would love it if you could come up with a theory for why singers were born in slave form instead of dull form from the time of ba-ado-mishrams imprisonment.

    My understanding of the holdover idea of seasons was that it came with humans when they left Ashyn and came to Roshar. Ashyn was where Cultivation resided for quite awhile, so Cultivation’s Intent of taking away and regrowing aligns with the idea of seasons you talk about. I think that if Roshar originally had seasons that it would be something the Fused would talk about, considering that many of them were alive when humans arrived on Roshar. Also, if the Nightwatcher is spring, the Stormfather is summer, and Ba-Ado-Mishram was fall/autumn, then who’s winter? The only option is the Sibling, but they don’t really fit the themes of winter. Other than them sleeping for a long time, but that didn’t happen until the False Desolation, if I have my timeline right. Which is after the seasons would’ve stopped

  • @MeMySkirtandI

    @MeMySkirtandI

    You are quite right that I skipped winter. And I agree with you about the sibling they have the sleeping/snow vibe up in the mountains, but as a mix of cultivation and honor winter is a weird fit. My three top sub-theories are: 1. there is no spren of winter (Romans/Greeks/Babylon didn't really have a concept of winter. www.britannica.com/science/Roman-republican-calendar) 2. It's another unmade. 3. It's King Boreas and the Queen of the Snows (this is a Minnesota joke). As for relying on the fused, while they don't talk about seasons, they also don't use the phrase "for a season" as we would say "for a moment". The Alethi toss this phrase around a lot in early RoW chapters. I find it suspicious.

  • @reidjetton9167

    @reidjetton9167

    I think the “for a season” phrase comes from how short “seasons”are on Roshar. If there is a spren of winter it would probably be an unmade, idk who it would be though. The Sibling most likely doesn’t predate Cultuvation’s arrival on Roshar. I still that using the Fused as an anchoring point for the pre-human culture of Roshar makes the most sense, and since they don’t mention seasons at all, I don’t think Roshar has ever had seasons. The Storm has always blown across it, even before the Shattering, so idk how there would be our concept of seasons with the storm being the way it is
